Do you run calves with your “cow” feeders? Wondering how pairs can do with these feeders for fall calves.

Little calves won’t be able to eat out of them or climb in to them. Right now, I have eight month old calves eating from the “cow” feeders. Does that kind of answer your question?

How easy is it to move those bale feeders around with a 38 inch bale Speer and two 18 inch speers on the side for stabilizers.?

I place the spear where the angle iron connects the feeder& between the black bale bars in which the bale hangs. From there I just lift up and slowly move around. It’s flawless and keeps from denting anything because you’re pushing against the heavy angle iron. Hard to explain unless ya have a photo or I can do a short video!

Why do you use bale feeders vs your bale processor or feeder wagon?

We feed round bales using the processor pre winter snow. We use the feeders only after the snow gets to deep for the cows to properly clean up the hay. Once we have a lot of snow in the corn stalks or cover crop, the cows don’t clean it up as well. I feed a alfalfa/grass ground hay ration with my corn silage through the feed wagon each day also.
