The "TELOC" the driver is referencing here is whats known as an OTDR (On Train Data Recorder), These come in very handy in the event of an incident or train fault. additionally; drivers can be subject to random data downloads once they reach a terminal station which will check for overspeeds and emergency intervention braking situations etc. The periodic rapid beeping is the Vigilance device, a pedal is required to be held down at all times or the train will stop itself, its basically making sure you are at the controls at all times, if you lift your heels for a few seconds or make no input on the controls for a while it will beep, prompting you to lift your foot and put it back down to tell the system you are present, it doesnt go off when the reverser is set to Neutral.
The orange and black sign at 4 ish minutes is whats known as a "Whistle board". You beep when passing one, you normally see them before level crossings, tunnels etc. You may have heard a lot of beeping on train journeys in ireland and figured they were doing it for the craic, this is why. Its also done before taking on power exiting a station or when passing through a station youre not stopping at. The solid beep tone heard at 4:47 is the CAWS alarm warning of a downgrade to a more restrictive signal ahead. this must be acknowledged by pressing a button next to the speedometer, failure to do so quickly prompts an emergency brake application by the onboard computer. this is accompanied by a red indication on the aspect display unit (ADU) in the same place as the aforementioned button. In this case it was a repeater signal showing that the signal protecting the up main at kildare is at danger. (this was not a spad as its just relaying what the next signal says). The "warble" tone at 7:40 ish is a CAWS upgrade (to a green signal aspect) and is reflected by a green light on the ADU
Just a bit of handy info for those who arent aware of such technical systems.
Side note: I love how the driver is answering questions but as soon as things get busy he preserves his concentration immediately and refocuses. Concentration is absolutely paramount in this industry and drivers base their entire lifestyle around ensuring they get enough sleep, eat right and not let non work related thoughts interfere with their duties. Its that very lifestyle that keeps everyone safe.

This is beautiful footage and a great chat with the driver about the job! 🚈💯👍
Also useful for me, too - I have a near photographic memory for terrain and layouts (This helps a lot in Orienteering! 😁) so just watching recent cab videos gives me a good start for learning what is where, if I'm lucky enough to get that far. There's a reason why I might be taking Irish route knowledge in the future... 🚈🇮🇪🤞
What I've got to hope and pray - Aside from there being no issues to do with my (non-chosen) passport - Is that my out-of-region accent isn't going to pose any problems with communication. 😇
