Remains of Pensacolian and USS Harder Found September 2023

The submarine USS Harder was credited with sinking more enemy ships than any other in WWII. Aboard that famous submarine was Pensacolian William Vernon Diamond from Pensacola High School. They sunk so many Japanese destroyers that they thought they were surrounded by American subs, not just one. Sunk by an enemy destroyer in August 1944, the Harder was found in September 2023 and reported to the news in May 2024.
