Syndicated Repeats of The Dick Tracy Show was pulled from syndication in the mid-1970s and mid-1980s, and was not seen for years afterward because of what some perceived as racist undertones and use of ethnic stereotypes and accents. Some Asians and Latinos charged that Joe Jitsu and Go-Go Gomez were offensive stereotypes. Two stations in Los Angeles removed the airings and edited episodes were then sent out while one station, KCAL Channel 9, which at the time was owned by Disney, continued when syndication broadcast The Dick Tracy Show until July 4, 1990. Henry G. Saperstein, then the chairman of UPA, stated "It's just a cartoon, for goodness' sake." Saperstein also pointed out that Hemlock Holmes and Heap O'Calorie (who are British and Irish respectively) are also ethnic stereotypes. The ethnic stereotypes are also the primary reason the diginet MeTV Toons will not air the series until further notice.

I remember this commercial in 1968 when I was 10 and 11. Although I don't smoke, some of the cigarette, beer, and soda commercials I saw in the 1960's had entertainment value. That is the reason that many people became hooked on cigarettes, beer, and soda!

After 80 years the only "remains" that are in that sub are his shoes. That is an absolute fact and these old ships need to be brought up because of the contamination they will eventually cause in that area. Its time we stop treating the ocean like an endless garbage dump.

Boraxo used to sponsor Death Valley Days. There is still a wagon exhibit in Death Valley National Park. I still use Boraxo. Mostly for sentimental purposes, I asked for it for Christmas a few years ago. It no longer comes in the metal container shown in the video. It comes in a heavy cardboard dispenser. Same stuff though. I don't know what the Regan commercial is in reference to. It's some variation on Boraxo. You need water with the original stuff.

My father was born in 1910 at 214 Chevallos St. He told me a story when he and his brother (probably 10-12 years old) would be near Child's Restaurant and see the delivery man bring ice to Child's in a horse drawn cart. One day the man had dropped the horsewhip that he used in the gutter there and my father and uncle brought it home. My grandmother took it and placed it on the mantle piece and used it on them. They made it disappear as soon as possible.
