Because would you really want to see your starting QB who you drafted 1st overall throw that many picks? Also remember that this is the same Bill Parcells who mentored Bill Belicheck and Sean Payton so some of the things he did as a coach when it came to the QB position must’ve work when it came to Payton and Belicheck because both of them helped develop future Hall of Fame QBs in Drew Brees and Tom Brady.

What's funny is Winston said (paraphrasing) "all I have to do is get rid of the interceptions and keep the rest". This was after 4 years in the NFL, and the man still didn't understand that protecting the football meant fewer big plays, fewer yards and fewer touchdowns, than playing boom-or-bust football. Had the Jets drafted him he may have had his first Super Bowl in his 2nd year. Belicheck may very well had stayed on after Parcells retired, and Tom Brady would have been Peyton's backup for his first 4 or 5 seasons until Josh McDaniels brought him with him to Denver instead of Matt Cassell.

Peyton altered nfl history with that choice, and I’d wager anything that he’d have more super bowls had he come out to the jets, simply because bill belllichick never would’ve left for New England. Maybe we never hear of Brady then, or maybe he’s still great. Who knows. In my opinion, the biggest difference between Brady and Manning is not just that Brady had belichick, but that he, unlike Peyton, never had to play against him. If Brady had to play against him all those years, he would’ve had a few more frustrating playoff losses on the way to super bowls.

Parcells would have had a better O line than the Cokts. Manning saw the roof of the Hoosier Dome more often than the pilot of the Goodyear Blimp.
