Wow this game taught me a valuable lesson that sounds like common sense-- that if a move seems intuitive but something is blocking it, look for other ways to divert or attack that piece..
If I'm not mistaken, I think the rook sacrifice is possible even without that move Morphy played. For example, if you play rook cptures on h7 and king captures. Then queen h5 with check. King moves to g8, then knight to h6 check. King moves to g7 and then you play rook to f7 with check. Here, black could move the king to h8 but then knight to f5 with check from the queen and black stands no chance. If he protects with his rook then he loses the queen and if he plays king to king to g8 then queen to h7 is checkmate

well spotted. i don't know how many such ai creations have you seen, so i don't know if you realized how excellent of a quality this one is. no glitches, no artifacts. it looks amazing. someone(s) put a ton of work and tweaking into this, possibly even months of work.

Hey man, so I’ve picked up chess again during the pandemic it’s a good way to use my brain while in quarantine. When I started 6 months ago i was around 400 rating and have steadily risen up to about 940 today. For the past few weeks I’ve been stuck at this range 800-920 and since I’ve started watching your videos I’ve really be able to learn a lot and get better. Thanks!

I first saw this technology two days ago - and knowing the difference between this and gifs - my mind was immediately amazed and taken back to Harry Potter "The pictures move?!?!" What I love the most about this channel is learning chess through history (Medo is great too! Lol) so I found this so fitting for breathing new life in this old world of chess!

I thought that the rendering of Paul's facial mannerisms looked completely natural and realistic. #suggestion Now that this software is available, I'd like to see agadmator use it to introduce other past greats who never lived long enough to be captured on motion film.

Imagine being so strong and sure of your skills that you have to bait some of the best the game has to offer at that moment in history into a match by losing against them, and when you are done pretending, not only claim that your opponent won't win another game, but actually keep your word. No wonder Staunton crapped his pants and never risked it. What an amazing prodigy Morphy was.
He had every chance to do what Anderssen did after losing to Morphy and then to Steinitz. He could admit he wasn't the very best player in the world, but he was still very very good. He analyzed his losses learned better endgame techniques, and he became a stronger player than he was before his losses. He stayed the second or third best player in the world until his death, and his opponents only had good things to say about him. Harrwitz chose his path. But, to be fair to Harrwitz, he did actually fall seriously ill when he claimed he had to end the match for health reasons. He wasn't retiring a sore loser.

Given that hint, we had a shot. It would have felt good to find a move the engine missed. I'm not sure I've ever done that.
There are some masters who say if Morphy appears again to play today,s chess he will come out as loser. I do not think so as he had the ability to grasp the game with one look at the board. Some speak about the modern opening theories and variations. Morphy could master all those things in matter of a few months and then even Carlsen will look ordinary.
Daniel Harrwitz is certainly ahead of his time with the types of lines that he played. However, Morphy is just a phenomenal player for this period and would certainly give some modern players a good fight. Just also want to say a big thank you to agadmator for his content on this channel. My own chess game has improved quite a bit since discovering his channel. I have been playing chess since I was a kid and really do love the game.

I read he became a lawyer , had memorised the complete book of Verbatim which I assume is some great big door stopping lawyer hard book classic, but they thought he may never had represented a case

IIRC his issue was that people never came to him for serious issues, they just wanted to get autographs or play chess. So he got fed up and threw In the towel (his family was insanely rich so he never had to work a day in his life after that).

Move order is super important! and always worth keeping in mind, never give up on an idea just because you can't play it yet.
