Homemade Wi-Fi Fish Feeder With Camera (ESP32-Cam)

- This is a video about making a Wi-Fi enabled Fish Feeder with integrated camera. It uses an ESP32 CAM board to connect to a local Wi-Fi network. You can control the fish feeder with your mobile phone or computer. The feeder can be set to an interval of 6, 12, 18 or 24 hours. You can also manually feed by clicking on a button and also turn on the light (integrated flash LED). The feeding time is also adjustable.
I've used Fusion 360 to design the fish feeder and printed it with my Anet A8 3D printer with white PLA.

Love it. Don't even need material support for printing the auger! For anyone that struggled with compiling and uploading as I did: -
Roll back your board (manager) version to 1.0.6 to avoid the dl_(something).h file saga.
Next issue: -
Compilation error: "fd_forward.h: No such file or directory" (just delete this line from the code in the second tab - use CTRL-F to find it).
Those fish probably had a lot of meals during testing! Good for them! :D

i actually made this one after searching a lot for it online. i've changed dimensions to have a bigger container, but someone mentioned a v-shape container as a good improvement i'm going to apply that soon.

Great idea. Nicely done. Do you mind me mentioning a small improvement? A V-shaped storage would help the spiral conveyor using all of the pellets. I also heared (!) that the 3D-printings are not waterproof, which can be solved by a coat of paint. - I'll keep your project in mind for future use. Thank you for sharing.

A sensor to see if there is still food in the box would be a great extension. However not a real idea how to do this.
@@rikthefrog Good point! But does it have to be a Sensor? A sight opening would work as well and could be backfitted. Requires just a piece of Plexiglas. ;)
@@rikthefrog Maybe a V-Shape as Michael mentioned and across that V-Shape storage some kind of optical / ir sensor. If there is still food inside the Light won't get to the receiver but if the food level is below it it will trigger it. Basically a light barrier. Or a distance sensor on the top that measures downwards but i guess the light sensor would be the easier and cheaper way.

You could monetize this with a website paypal so that others could feed the fish remotely. It would sell like hotcakes. Who doesn't like to feed fish, pigeons and ducks? With a free app to watch them, I'm sure that 1000's of people would gladly pay $5 for 5 button clicks to feed them 5 times. (or something)

Nice design. I made a similar one about a year ago, some times food used to stuck in hopper so I had to clear by hand.
