I don’t know how much Old Hammer lore you know and maybe you know this, but there was a programming system for robots in 1st edition 40K Rouge Trader. It was included in White Dwarf 104. This was before the Mechanicum was a thing (I think?) so it was just the Legion Cyberneticia and had the original stats for the Castellan, Crusader, etc. They had a big sheet of programming blocks that were a mix of commands (move , shoot, etc), “ If/then” statements, and “Go to”instructions. You would then arrange these blocks into a program and had to pay a point value for each block you used. The robot maniple would do exactly what the program said. So if you programmed well it was fairly flexible but if you made a mistake it walk in circles of target enemies out of range etc. It was a really neat system.
Great unboxing. I was going to get me some mechanicum but decided against it for now. Still working through the unending pile of epic space marines I already have.
@ honestly my self control here surprised me. But now I have several thousand points of imperial fists painted up. I thought I would take a break from painting yellow and paint me some other legions. I would like to add some tiny large robots to the list one day. But I haven’t even got to my solar aux yet. There’s just so many marines in the way…
GW finally started to indicate the correct base sizes for the minis, which is nice. I love Mechanicum and look forward to built a Taghmata or two. Got two boxes as a start,
Getting mine delivered tonight after work, looking forward to adding them to the pile of shame since I haven’t finished the big Mechanicum box yet sigh
It looks like the cortex rule specifies that if you are ineligible to give them the orders listed then the rule is ignored. If you forget to give them one of the listed orders, all they can do is advance, which makes them ineligible I suppose? so I’m guessing they can pretty much always advance if you simply claim to have forgotten
It’s a style choice along with things like canceling/cancelling. Generally speaking I’m a simpler is better kind of person. I’d tend towards single, too.

I envy your self control.

No plans to buy them, however the new stuff has been a nice prompt to start reducing the pile of opportunity and finish some bits off!

Three weeks’ time! Preorders next Saturday :D
Looks like I'll be trading my 40K in my collection to my FLGS to buy my Mechanicum box.
Tbh much prefer one ‘s’ in ‘focusing’.
