@@tubalador i wouldn't say faction, but there are a few who have strong feelings about it (though I haven't seen them try to be contentious). We have some friends right now that recently started a home church. They've had the desire for a while but it was accelerated by covid, and they have posed that question "where do we have authority/example for a building?". Now, they are not against buildings, but they do have an issue with people who say we must have a building... That issue came up recently at our congregation unfortunately.

Very misleading sermon. To be the Lord's church doesn't mean we won't get things wrong at times. But the foundation, how to be saved, worship and doctrine/teachings must be right and it can be done otherwise Jesus would not have told us what to do in His Word. (Romans 10:9; Acts 2:38; John 4:24) "Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son." (2 John 1:9)
There is no real inconsistency between the doctrine of the churches of Christ; there is only a conflict with ones understanding of "how" the authority of God translate to our life.
The church of Christ gets alot right but is COMPLETELY WRONG AND UNBIBLICAL on divorce and remarriage. They Incorrectly use the fornication from Matthew 5:32 and 19:9 to say one can divorce due to marital unfaithfulness. Which is a lie bc Jesus is clearly referring to the Jewish betrothal period BEFORE MARRIAGE in Matthew (which is written primarily to Jews) and thus once married there are NO GROUNDS FOR DIVORCE! and NOWHERE in scripture is remarriage after divorce allowed, let alone encouraged
The congregation is laughing when it should have been morning. Jesus said a house divided against itself will fall. So be it. May we see the utter collapse of “the movement”if there is no repentance.
I stopped by here today because the link popped up in a FB discussion. The video is more about entertainment (I was) than about HOW TO recognize and establish BIBLE authority... teachings which are so needed today! The video's effort wants to diminish the need for Bible authority, this by displaying the disagreements and inconsistencies that have been caused and created by man - and presenting those issues AS IF requiring Bible authority and appealing to Scripture is the cause of such. No doubt my comment above will be read as "suspect" for those same failings!

(2 Peter 3:16)
I'm sorry to say, but it's not watered down, it's dead accurate. I'm a 3rd generation church of Christ member. I grew up in the "third chair". I married a woman who came from a family 4 generations of the next to last chair (anti-located preachers). While her family and I agree on baptism, communion, and Christ-like living, they think I was raised in an unfaithful church because we had a preacher instead of rotating men of the body to take turns preaching (aka Mutual Edification). All these chairs are mostly the results of brotherhood papers 50-150 years ago. American Christian Review, Gospel Advacate, Firm Foundation, Mission Messeger, Macedonian Call, all these papers helped to create or represent a chair this speaker is referring to.

Sadly, some of the chairs toward the right end of the spectrum have no desire to re-evaluate their understanding of scripture. I have had many discussions with people like this and men have called me names and made sexist comments toward me even when all I have done is provide scripture, exegesis and definitions. At some point you have to wipe the dust off your feet and keep walking.
Unfortunately, unless you're willing to read the scriptures without bringing manmade catch phrases and ideals to the table, you will continue to read it from an exclusive angle. Pray for the Spirit to guide you as you read through Galatians. If you don't believe that the Spirit is still alive today, you may want to start reading Romans.
and spiritually shallow as well...brother Acthley is fooling himself if you doesn't understand that the mechanical instrument is much different...the human voice is the instrument that God Himself made...unlike any other of his earthly creatures, we sing "AngelSong"...all others are artificial imitations...unloving, sounding brass and clanging cymbals (1 Cor. 13:1)...so shame on us if we exchange authentic spirituality for entertainment...
....the difference between a Legalist and a Primitivist: ...my chair is toward the far right (mutual edification ministry/no located preacher- paying for one is really not the issue)...I happily worship and fellowship with every other acapella chair to the left, and literally every opportunity I get...but you are fooling yourself if you don't understand that the mechanical instrument is much different...the human voice is the instrument that God Himself made...unlike any other of his earthly creatures, we sing "AngelSong"...all others are artificial imitations...unloving, sounding brass and clanging cymbals (1 Cor. 13:1)...so shame on us if we exchange authentic spirituality for entertainment...

Jesse Woodby I’d love to find the whole thing, too.

I would love a downloadable version of this to show in a class. Is that possible?
But where's the rest of the message? This video does a great disservice by presenting a possible problem but failing to present a solution.
There is no real inconsistency between the doctrine of the churches of Christ; there is only a conflict with ones understanding of "how" the authority of God translate to our life.
As long as we are human and fallen beings, there will always be inconsistencies.

When we honor Jesus as the head of the church we tend to drop pettiness. When we think that our opinion counts then we give room for pettiness
This is wonderful!
