To all the naysayers who think they’re unreliable and crap - keep up the great work, it helps to keep these classics affordable, for the real petrolheads out there.

Well put together video James, just bought my 2001 Chimaera 4.5 and love it, I agree with all you said, this was always my dream car from a teenager, I’m 68 years old now, better late than never. 👌👍

Love this story , Similar situation to my life . My dad had a Jensen intercepter for many years , and as kid’s were dragged all around Europe in it . That passion of cars has carried on down the line to my brother who has a 5 ltr v8 marcos mantula - and my self , with a 1996 / 4 ltr - starmist green chim . Long may this passion of cars like ours live on .

For all those that say this car is crap and to all those who have never had one "the ones that say they are crap" you have a happy life in what ever you drive but untill you drive a car like this then you have not had a life trust me !!! I have had them all Porche to Lotus To any bema you would like to mention.. This mad mans car always gives me the bigest smile so you who make the neg comments you keep trying to find the same smile as I get every time I go out in my rummble tumble machine !! The sound alone is enough not forgeting the road handling and that mad interior where knobs open doors and mirrors open doors from the outside etc etc etc Go on get one you know you want one Oh and by the way the depreciation these days is zero so buy it drive it and sell it for a profit cant go wrong !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Happy happy days are here for good if you have a ????????????????????????? Make your own mind up !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Loved mine, some of my best live experiences in that car. Did Goodwood, Nurburgring, Stelvio pass, Trollstigen, Lofoten... So many road trips, never a hiccup

I have a very strong 80's memory about having one of these. I had a 4.5 as a company car (Yes, ad agency). Specced it from new - blue with ivory dials. Picked it up from kensington, drove home to clapham stalling it all the way because the clutch was so stiff. gradually my left leg got strong enough to drive it :)

Can't beat these little chims for their smile factor. Mines a 95 too, started out much like Matts :)

Truly inspirational and congratulations Matt, you have literally won the game with this stunner! TVRs are some of the greatest cars ever, truly stunning to look at, to hear howl up the road. I'm sure that behind the wheel things only get better!
I LOVE TVRs and would have this or a Griffith in a heartbeat. Also my ultimate is a Cerbera due to magazine write ups and Clarkson videos! The Tuscan, T350, Typhoo and later cars. But I also love the earlier Capri V6 engines cars and the wedge V8s too. The UK.I'd a sadder place without TVR but luckily we still have beasts like this prowling our streets with a purr, roar and howl!

Great story. Always thought these were beautiful, but I'm in Kentucky and have never seen one in the flesh.
We had the Viper which was also relatively unassisted in 1995, but 1000 lbs heavier.
    Yours is gorgeous in green.

I think you can import them now so hopefully you can get one. That Buick derived noise is the best in a car that is so light and just pulls and pulls. A bit heavy on the clutch in standing traffic but fantastic. Getting mine to Steve Edwards for a hardtop conversion and a bit of loving care. Hoping to do the North Coast 500 in Scotland soon.

Hi Matt as my name i had the Skyline gtr33 vspec. Imported from someone in the know it had 650BHP & was pretty mental. My present car is a 2017 Ftype Jaguar 5.0 R Cabriolet. I have been for nearly a year now considering selling the Jag & getting a Chimera 500 or a Griffith 500. I know it will not have the performance of the Jag or Skyline but at my age i think it's time to slow down & just have something that sounds the part. Fantastic video.
    Regards.
    Steve.

I've got a 1997 Chim. Best car I ever had. Never let me down and have driven all around the Country. Large boot so great GT car. I've never driven anything where people say 'Nice Car Mate'. Don't think you would get the same response with a Porsche.
