    Really like this piece. The purple on playback m is fantastic. I commented on you turning technique being unsafe. This bowl was done with much safer technique. Thank you for those changes. Looking forward to many more videos.

    Nice to hear your voice on this vidio. Denatured alcohol! I have heard lots of turners say they use that after sanding before finishing. I never knew that methylated spirits is the same thing. Another lovely bowl, thanks for sharing Phil 5⭐'s

      +Gordon Chapman yes it is and it’s excellent for cleaning out the grain before adding colour, thank you for your comments

    Very nice bowl, your colours work well.
    Have you had any problems, with the Herald, mounting bowls, using a woodworm screw, on to the chuck because I find the right hand thread of the chuck unwinds the left hand thread of the handwheel, leaving me unable to lock the spindle and mount the bowl. I have resisted using the indexing lock.

      No James, no I’ve not had any problems at all, maybe speak to Record Power direct? Glad you liked the bowl

      @@PhilScarlett Thanks I have spoken to Recordpower. Can I just confirm that you drop the knockout bar through the handwheel, secure it and you then wind the bowl onto the woodworm screw successfully, without using the index lock.
      Sorry to bother you.
      James

      Thanks, I just wanted to clear it up. I have spoken to some other users but they are using the index lock, which is not what it's for.

    Any tips please just got some hamshire sheen green forest dye , i sand down too 400grit all looks and feels smooth until i add dye then areas seem too stand out darker and rougher why is this tha nks

    • @PhilScarlett
      @PhilScarlett  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sorry only just seen this message. I’d say it’s just darker on the end grain of the bowl and if you add too much at once it can cause the grain to stand up and feel rough. With the dyes I tend to add a little at a time and hand sand them back after each coat until I get the required finish I’m looking for.
