It's a false negative I mean God forbid people stop buying in to the Adventure motorcycle bull. Have motorcycle will travel may not be ideal but who cares
You would have to be listening to Satan’s spirits. Are you freaken nutz? I had one. Ain’t no way you are going off roading with these big bikes and thinking all is well. It ain’t! Try it! I dare ya! You’ll see! That guy messed up his bike.
On dry grass maybe, if you need to. I ride an M109R and there’s a video of one in a high speed chase across grass and tracks which I thought was impressive. But surely not this kind of terrain, if you care about the bike and getting home under your own steam. I don’t think my bike’s lower ground clearance would have even made this possible.
Well done! Me and two buddies went through Titus Canyon, near Death Valley, on street bikes. One of them was 77 and on a Concours. Me, I was happy getting back on asphalt.
@@jackx4311 I just know I didn't see him drop it in this video, anything else is just speculation. I'm not saying I would take my bike down that road but he does seem to know wut he's doing.
That was nuts, especially the last bit coming down the gradient, but well ridden. I’d have 100% turned back if possible, I care about my paintwork too much for that! But sometimes it’s too late and there’s no place to turn, so you have to keep going. Wonder if it got worse before it got better?!!
@@chadmanproductions Wow! Wonder how this ended; and he probably couldn’t turn back if he wanted to, the rear wheel on a road tyre would surely have spun out trying to climb uphill on all those loose stones!
Only fail I saw was the riders failure on pre planning his route. One thing to deal with a bad road you mistakenly find yourself on. But intentionally putting GW on that trail = NUTS.
@@bwma Haha yah my Tiger800 sees gravel. Granted it's the street model but still. Dirt is for the DT and the KDX. But there is a hole in my arsenal though, the Yammie 700 would fill it nicely.

@@KingCast65 sounds like you have a nice collection. Us motorcycle lovers can't stop at one bike😁 I started with the British stuff (BSA and a Triumph) then added several Japanese bikes. That Honda Africa twin has me drooling 🤤.
Crazy mother trucker taking that bike there, a fall would be mega bad news and a ton of money.. Fair doos though he's handled that real good, take my hat off for that. 👍🤣🇬🇧
The fail was for doing this in the first place on a 900 lb bike. To get to the bottom of that pass they had to do much worse with big drop offs on the side.
I tried that on a trail in Montana with my 78 Goldwing back in 1984. Went a half mile down the road and turned around. They're called road bikes for a reason.
He didn't end up down the ravine & cause a rock slide on top of himself....I'd say he did well. But NO....should not have attempted it in the first place.
He FAILED the moment he took that overweight barge off road. Given the minimal ground clearance on a Gold Wing, even if he doesn't fall off, the chances of avoiding smashing crankcase or gearbox are slight.
Gary, thanks for assuming we did not offer any help. We did and they refused. Again thanks for judging my character by this video. I might suggest a new method of posting. Why would a person choose to operate a GW there? It's a ridiculous act. That the fellow did not drop or crash, is not the point. The odds were very much against his getting through without damage. I'd estimate the odds against him were 80%. Is anyone thinking that we ought to operate our motorcycles in ways that have an 80% likelihood that they'll be dropped or damaged? (Let's not even bring up the possibility of human injury.)
Would love to have one. If I did have any large street bike, I would not take it down this pass. Props, to them for trying, but a good way to kill your yourself and your bike. As they would get lower on this pass, it has some hard sections with some big drop offs.
Cadillac had an ad in '76. Similar road. "Just because your Caddy babies you, dosen't mean you have to baby it." White Coup de'Ville with red interior I believe.
Add a set of Heidenaus and raise the suspension. Could have just wheelied down. Who needs a GS =). PS- I've owned a Wing, and currently ride a GS from when GSs weren't Starbucks run bikes.
Ya, made that video like 15 years ago. The fail is trying to ride a Goldwing down a difficult 4 wheel drive mountain pass without having a clue what's ahead.
Do you want a dual sport or adventure touring? "Nah, I'm just going to wing it."
When you choose "shortest route" and "avoid highways" on GPS.
Yep, did that once, never again
Riding a Goldwing on that is like sending a type 1 diabetic to dinner at Willy Wonka's chocolate factory.
Fail? Looked like a win to me!
Herd1/2 a ton over that.

Yea, how is that a fail?
It's a false negative I mean God forbid people stop buying in to the Adventure motorcycle bull. Have motorcycle will travel may not be ideal but who cares
More thumbnail lies.....
Clickbait. The only fail was the last four seconds of the video - couldn’t keep a giant motorcycle going 3 mph in frame.
How was that a fail? I would of never attempted it . He did a good job
I remember back in the day, you had one bike and it did everything. 😎
Yup I remember riding my CB750 Honda on gravel road, 80-90kph no problem
bike stayed upright, so that's an epic win right there
That man can ride! Not many people would try that on a Goldwing.
Exactly, nobody. Its odd, strange, and ultimately purposeless.
As someone who just moved from a klr to a gl1500, it's nice to know I can still go off roading if the spirit moves me. 😀

So people like me will not do it
