This video is really informative, thankyou. Although, I am still having trouble slicing my .stl terrain file. I start by closing all the holes/fixing the mesh, then I convert my terrain to a solid, after that I follow the instructions in your video. When it comes to splitting the body, I dont have the option to select my terrain as the body to be split, this is also the same when I try to trim. Any thoughts? Thanks!
i'm super new to this and i have a question i havent figure out yet. after last step in your tutorial, how can i arrange or organize each surface into a vector file and process it in Adobe AI for laser cutting ? thanks in advance !
Yes can lay all the parts flat and then export a DXF tool path with kerf adjustment for laser cutting directly from fusion 360 th-cam.com/video/6JFHMV7A9TU/w-d-xo.html
This was one of my comments. He talks about cutting on a laser as the goal but then creates thick widths. No use for that, only need the flat vector art. It’s a bit confusing. And then why the seperation? Are these going to levitate?
In the mesh workspace convert the mesh into a solid, you can do this under the modify tab in the mesh workspace of Fusion 360. Sometimes you need to click the Band-Aid or repair icon to fix the mesh and close any holes first
There are probably dedicated slicers that can do this, but this is a way to do it. Parametrically in Fusion 360. Always many different ways to solve a problem
@@WhatMakeArt There used to be a tool called Slicer for Fusion. It was then brought into fusion and was great. Then Autodesk removed it. I did not have a way to do this until you post. thank you.
post any Fusion 360 laser cutting questions in the comments
how to add bolt holes fast
Exactly what I was looking for.
Glad it helped, hope your Lisa project comes out well 👍🚁
may be the best video ive ever seen thank you very much
Glad it helped 👍
That was cool. Thanks!
👍
Thank you for this tutorial. I can't use the trim tool because I can't select the whole body, only faces. Any advice?
Are you in the surface workspace?
@@WhatMakeArt yes
I was able to do it with Split Face and then delete the unwanted areas.
@oaklandulfeldt glad you figured it out, thanks for sharing your solution with everyone 👍
Thanks a lot!
Welcome a lot 👍
Super helpful video, thanks so much! Do you have a video that shows how to go from this point through creating tool paths?
th-cam.com/video/6JFHMV7A9TU/w-d-xo.html this shows how to export a dxf file from Fusion 360 for laser cutting

Does it have the body icon in the outline? Or is it still a mesh or surfaces that need to be stitched together?

I couldn't do this with an STL or OBJ. Trim tool only lets me select one of the many faces of the model. Any ideas?

@@WhatMakeArt thank you! I'll give it a try!
Shouldn't this be done by kind of slicer?
