The Residents are peak weird . It’s worth mentioning that some of the strangest and “out there” music was released in the 70’s .
That decade was the decade where there was no genre tags , no limitations and no rules.
hello
They just dropped a new album I have to check out, love how they’re so consistent
Damn even one of the peak Extreme Metal TH-camrs is here
They haven’t been the same since Hardy Fox died
Yeah
You forgot to mention the band King gizzard and his wizard lizard they were founded in 2010 and they have 26 studio, albums, they started out as a alternative rock band, but they also have metal albums electronic albums etc.
vizzy im gonna have to give u a history lesson along with deep philosophical talk about goregrind
that actually sounds fun
I love me some Carcass
@@KingV1128 isnt Carcass Death metal? I think Grind/Gore is more pig vocals, black market themes of human slaughterhouses and cannibalism, etc?
Aside from the residents, you gave a decent outline of weird music without ever actually stepping into the avant-garde genre.
14:58 GWAR! Favorite band ever since I got a bootleg tape of Ragnarök in 6th grade. Met a few of them. Dave Brockie aka Oderus (RIP) was flat out one of the funniest, coolest, and most down to earth celebrities i have ever met. Dude was all about being good to the fans.
That’s fuckin awesome, my son and I wanted to see gwar but then oderus sadly passed b4 we had a chance 😢 couldn’t bring ourselves to see them with a different singer!! Btw at the time my kid was like 11-12 , he fell in love with the band after watching the movie with me when he was 8 😅
@markdark901 ive seen them with the new singer and honestly the guy does a great job. He used to be Beefcake back in the day so at least he was already part of the GWAR family. I heartily reccomended you still check them out.
@ good to know, definitely the next time they come near my town I will
How can you have a list of weird artists without Unknown Hinson?
I mean he didn't even have to change his character for squidbillys.
So clowncore definitely has a special place in my brain. Led me down a rabbit hole to a band called knower. Anything that says live sesh is fire.
The songs do hot girls like chords, overtime, or nightmare, all have that same clowncore crazy drumming from Louis Cole.
Geriogerogegege
Hanatarash
Boredoms
Melt Banana
Noted!
THE RESIDENTS MENTIONED??? (havent watched the vid yet, i just saw thumbnail and got excited.)
I LOVE THE RESIDENTS THEY'RE SO SILLY
Yes
Zach Hill's band before Death Grips, Hella, is also very weird.
some of my favorite weird bands are Sleepytime Gorilla Museum, Secret Chiefs 3, and Estradasphere.
I LOVE HELLA
I’ve seen Boris, DRI, Fu Manchu, Sleep, Melvins and Motörhead….
15:51 was the loudest, and most punishing concert I’ve been to by a landslide. There was no moshing or crowdkilling, but I truly felt like I’ve lost a bad fight at the end of that show. Swans are amazing
you sold me, next time theyre around ill be sure to watch em live
As soon as I saw The Residents on the cover I NEEDED to click. They're the best.
Also to make you aware there's a band called Scraping Foetus of the Wheel who 'Fans also like' on Spotify LMAO
Foetus is also know as Foetus under glass, Foetus Incorporated, Foetus Corruptus or just Foetus. Love that band though.
@@wolfie1234100 I remember seeing Foetus Interruptus and bursting out laughing 😭
THE RESIDENTS MENTIONED
theres a sick documentary i watched on the band which was super cool, it was called "Theory of Obscurity: A Film About the Residents" i highly recommend if you havnt seen it yet
Some bands i would have included on this list would be Death In June, Mindless Self Indulgence, The Legendary Pink Dots and anything Mike Patton does haha
Honestly half or more of industrial groups could easily fit into the "weirdest bands" category. Throbbing Gristle/PsychicTV, Coil, Current 93, etc.
MSI was insane the one time I got to see them live; getting Jimmy to stand on us and just depants himself and then the crowd went insane once the music started and we stampeded the stage and if you didn't jump you were on the floor. Still one of the craziest shows I've been to.
Big Mike Geier and Puddles also worked with Adult Swim. Puddles did stuff with Squidbillies and, most recently, The Fireplace. Big Mike wrote and sang some songs for 12 oz Mouse and did bumpers for the Sunday Pants block. It sounds like lots of creative and weird writers and performers came out of Adult Swim.
That’s so cool, maybe I should do a video on adult swim music? 👀
What about Barnes and Barnes, King Missile, and the entire genre of Outsider music? I think you should look into outsider music. Most of it is very weird yet strangely good.
bet ill check em out!
Detachable Penis
Crazy band that i dont think is around anymore Bad Acid Trip, they were signed to serj from SOAD label i believe but they were nuts, singer woukd run around the crowd with a odlid(spell it backward), Or Mindless self indulgence... i know quite a few... Mr. Bungle, psychostick... just to name a few.
Was kinda hoping to see Cardiacs on this, but alas 😔
next time!
I'm too old to think The Residents are weird, I find a lot of their songs catchy.
Some bands I would add to this list would be Death in June, Mindless Self Indulgence and anything. Ike Patton does haha
Wait til you find out about Jandek and Wesley Willis
The Residents are not anonymous anymore. It’s super easy to find out who they are under the masks.
Yeah, Ween and Primus would have been good picks, too.
Green Jello should be on this list.
I was expecting to see Steam Powered Giraffe, weird but very good
ill be sure to check em out!
I saw The Residents live back in 2017 and it was a weird but amazing experience. The fact that I was tired as shit didn't really help it either. It was a seated concert, they were dressed as plague doctors, while the singer was dressed up as a cow. They also had a huge eyeball above the stage that they played videos on. Like, the videos were intermissions between songs and some of them lasted like 10-15 mins, most of them were weird af. The whole thing lasted for about 3 and a half hours. It was a truly unique concert experience and I would love to see them live again.
The weirdest musician is some guy you never heard of doing noise sets naked in a basement in brooklyn
LMFAO TRUE
12:44 “It should’ve been me! Not him! IT’S NOT FAIR!”
Honorable mentions :
Rasputina
Sleep Party People
Sykotik Synfony
which is your favorite?
@VIIZZZYY Rasputina. Not for weirdness though. Just one of my favorite bands.
The Residents are pretty weird. Good catch. I know em all.
Check out Boredoms, their music is weird as hell (except Vision Creation Newsun), if you want to see their weird side, check out Pop Tatari, the cover, and even the song titles are weird.
ill write it all down!
I think Vision Creation Newsun and Super Ae are still weird but they are ambient. Definitely a different sound than Rat Soup. But if you want something crazy listen to Eye’s previous band Hanatarash.
The weirdest to me is Mac Sabbath! They need to be included in a future video. Check them out
hopefully bro mentions Ween
100 GECS MENTIONED HELL YEAH
SWANS MENTIONED HELL YEAH
HE MENTIONED WEEN LET'S FUCKING GO
Ween is so fucking fun
@@VIIZZZYY Ween is an awesome band, Gener and Deaner are geniuses.
I fw the chill guy background music so hard
The Residents were definitely more of a group of like-minded artists collaborating between themselves and peers than a proper musical band Their music is my favorite part of their output, but their visual identity is very strong as well. As far as visual side of their art goes my favorites are their experimentations with computer animation in the 90s like their video for Gingerbread Man, or the bizarre Windows 3.1 "games" Freak Show and Bad Day on the Midway. I can't recommend either for their gameplay even if you do like 90's point and click adventure games, but if you like their art, they're definitely both worth checking out.
Hell yeah thanks for letting me know !
13:42 During a band Chicago trip, I got to see them. The events leading up to the show kind of sucked, but it was honestly so fucking cool. I wasn't expecting much. But it was absolutely incredible. Will never forget that day lol
if you think swans has a lot of former members, wait til you see the wikipedia page for the fall
Uh oh, I gotta check it out lmao
Was kinda hoping to see Tally Hall or the even stranger Miracle Musical/Joe Hawley Joe Hawley, all of which made by Joe Hawley and others, a man of pure strangeness. Highly suggest them to anyone looking for weird music.
ill check em out!
You're new content has been a big step up man, good work.
Thanks so much brother 🖤
adding to the strangeness, my favorite strange artist is Tonetta, he went pretty viral for his song pressure zone in the early 2010s when ray william johnson posted it on equals three, but he makes genuinely great music. Try "Does Anybody Know I'm Here" or "Drugs, Drugs, Drugs." Tonetta walked so Mac Demarco could run.
clown core mentioned meaning this channel is automatically amazing and correct
im actually fucking stupid i just realised im already subscribed and this is the guy with the real good 'weird/disturbing music' videos and emo stuff i love you
Stalaggh, Tanzwut, Gevolt, Author & Punisher, and Knorkator are also some unique ones.
Ill be sure to check em out!
that feeling when vizzy uploads
There's nothing more unhinged & weird than the average noise or Black Metal musician
Dude.
I love the Blue Man Group.
I remember seeing that band live during a birthday trip to Las Vegas in 2016.
Thats sick! Do you listen to any of there work or you just enjoyed the show?
@ i remember really liking their stuff as a kid.
(My main instrument is drums and percussion so of course)
Omg. Gwar is a band name I haven;t heard in a while lol.
theyve been around for sooo long its insane, i love how they look but not so much there tunes haha
@@VIIZZZYY I can agree with you on that too lol!
@@VIIZZZYY They're definitely stage presence and entertainment more than anything else, IMO. Kinda like what Rob Zombie is like; although Rob's stuff is a lot more enjoyable.
Heyy, you should check out Jack stauber. He makes 2D and clay animation and his music is..weird ngl.
YOU JUST UNLOCKED A NEW MEMORY FOR ME I USED TO LOVE JACK
Puddles is actually one of my favorite artists. He has an amazing voice
Thank you for giving Noah Praise God more ears, he's so good and makes amazing art.
He needs way more love
love your content keep it up 💯💯💯 :)
i appreciate the love!
HERE I COME CONSTANTINOPLE
Love GWAR
Acid Mothers Temple is also kinda weird. Japanese psychedelic music
Clown core sounds so much like no wave music
Yeah, but that swans cover art is actually amazing.
Fun fact two of gawr song was somewhat covered on knd
That’s awesome !
3:12 Jazz grind? I *REALLY* want to see Clown Core live (I am a jazz musician).
Naked City is good if you like jazz grind. There’s no clowns but there’s John Zorn and Mike Patton
I got to see them last year in Texas and it was well worth it!
Swans is top 3 favorite bands for me. Boards of Canada and Carissa’s Wierd the other 2.
I like puddles. The clown thing is a little weird, but I like his voice.
BEAUTIFUL voice
Pretty decent list. One or two I haven't heard of so I'll check them out. Others to definitely look into based on different levels of weirdness/popularity all based on seeing them live and enjoying their music:
Mindless Self Indulgence (insane live!)
Till Lindemann (lead singer of Rammstein just doing solo stuff)
Little Big
Gnome
Electric Six
Electric Callboy (once called Eskimo Callboy)
Primus
Bloodhound Gang
Oliver Tree
Die Antwoord
Avatar
Rob Zombie
Kim Dracula
Ninja Sex Party
Limp Bizkit
Corey Feldman & Corey's Angels
Steel Panther
Oliver tree is so fun, he has an older project called mr.tree that was great too
@@VIIZZZYY Oh, cool. I didn't even know that about him. My husband introduced me to him and I love his stuff so I'm gonna go check it out.
I've heard of Puddles before. A guy I know saw them once opening for Tenacious D
so sick i really wanna see em!
Yep and now he'll be opening for Weird Al this year. FINALLY getting to see Weird Al in concert and excited for Puddles, too.
Here I come Constantinople
grind core and its sub genreas is not weird
The Residents are borderline unlistenable. I mean, I can totally get behind their weird aesthetic, but their music makes Frank Zappa seem mainstream by comparison.
Nah their music is chill.
I just seen Gwar in concert on Halloween
thats actually sick
Seen em twice now thanks to Aftershock Festival. It's insane how much "blood" and "pee" and "c*m" and "poop" and "vomit" they spray on everyone; even more insane is how many people wear white shirts just to get themselves stained by Gwar.
If you only heard oxygen by swans and stopped they would seem normalish
Swans kinda reminds me of nine inch nails for some reason
Drive45 is a very weird music artist, highly recommend
Check out the all Arnold Schwarzenegger themed metal band called Austrian Death Machine.
If you think grindcore is weird, wait til you find out about noisecore, the (il)logical end point to all music. If free jazz academic free expression then noisecore is idiotic free experession.
EDIT: I was also briefly a drummer in a sex education grind band, all the lyrics were about, well sex ed.
thats awesome, did you guys put out any music?
@@VIIZZZYY God damn youtube just censors my comments, bu the name of the band was Cornovalistus if the C was a P, there's a bandcamp site I can't link here.
I also have quite a lot of recordings upload on my youtube channel from me and my friends small noise/punk/black metal/whatever scene from back in the days, lots of noisecore with some noisy black metal and punk filth and noise shite too.
THE RESIDENTS MENTION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
No Buckethead?
na ive seen them too often on other peoples lists
You forgot Wolf Face
Atrax Morgue
Puddles is sick
actual voice of an angel
I clicked the video for the residents inclusion. Great list
thanks! theyre super cool, ill be sure to check out those bands you mentioned in the other comment
The frogs
Child. You have much more to look at. Keep going.
Jack stauber
Love jack
@VIIZZZYY please cover him
And what is your favorite song of him
Don't be buttercup
@@Iliaisawsome the other basic one, peppermint lmao i think its cute, catchy, smart, funny and all around a short but sweet memorable banger
Nice I like it too
Saxquatch. Check him out.
Check out the tiger lilies
I see Tuga flag RAHHHH caralhoooo. 🇵🇹
huge
#lifeisMizzy
lol when i was 13 i had a simpsons hyperfixation & i gen loved okilly dokilly
theyre a great band!
Apart from being very tall and dressing like a clown, Puddles is not weird. Even though he’s definitely a talented singer, his unusual appearance doesn’t carry over into his music.
That’s what I said lmao
It does carry over into his live shows, though. He's definitely a clown.
Surprised DEVO wasn't on here. They're way more out there than, say, GWAR.
Damn, i often think i have pretty weird taste, but looking at these my tastes are f*cking vanilla. I can honestly say i either hate or don't care for any of these with the exception of Death Grips, they're cool. Clowncore and Okilly Dokilly are somewhat funny/interesting. Mr. Bungle is a band i love but i'm just a huge fan of Mike Patton in general.
So Vizzy, tell me - have you ever heard of TISM?😏
not first
next time!
I never liked system of a down because they where weird but the much weirder thing at the same time is I like primus and I like frank zappa which are both weird.
SOAD is AMAZING! They've been at the top of our best concert/performance list out of the 500 or so concerts/music festivals we've been to so far. Seeing them live was just so fun and insane.
@NoOneReallySpecial say what you want about them. I really don't care. I'm still not a system of a down fan. I never liked them and I still don't.
This ain't weird enough
th-cam.com/video/t3tQNqPqzGE/w-d-xo.htmlsi=XuKckHj7XDOImYPL
Now this is weird
