As a follower of your Satisfactory content and fellow anticipator of Starfield outpost building, I'm very excited to see a TotalXclipse outpost guide. Can't wait to see your further videos.
one thing i learned from building outposts is that it takes two He3 extractors in order to make a self-sustaining loop using the He3 fueled generator. Tried it with only one and the system ran out. Im thinking you can probably sustain 2 generators with 3 extractors if you need more power. My tank rests at 63% running what i have now. Thanks for the video, cant wait to learn more.
You just need one - just pipe it into a storage container instead of outputting directly into the generator. The game has some weird interactions when you go direct from extractor to processor. Extractor > storage > processor is definitely the happy path they went for when they built everything
I've been flying from system to system, scanning worlds, landing on various planets just to find the right planet to build on. I'm super picky, the world has to look just right, not baren, would prefer having it on an ocean coast or a forest, found a nice snowy mountain area on the coast that I finally think feels right. Really look forward to modders making planets more full, would like some dense forests on some
Just a tip I found helpful, when using the laser cutter to gather resource nodes hold the right click and it charges the cutter making it about 4x quicker to extract resources
Quick tip, if you need a lot of iron fast, you can farm tons by shooting asteroids. The lumpy looking ones are usually water the concrete looking ones are usually iron and sometimes platinum palladium and other resources. Be careful though because you can get rocks permanently stuck around your ship when doing this so save before and check for any random rocks after just in case.
I would love to see you building a ship. Your unique creativity talent along with your min/max strategy, I'm sure you'll create some awesome looking and fully efficient ships!
I definitely hope they go deeper into outpost building and polish up the UI. It’s a lot better than fall out but I’d like to see a better snap tool I’d also like to see being able to build a trade alliance board so you can shop from your base. Maybe unlocked through a quest and needing the cargo link

Can you please make a dedicated, in depth video on cargo links? It’s pretty straightforward...at first...but then it gets so damn complicated and confusing and just when I think I fixed the problem(s) i was having, like having a resource I’ve set up a dedicated extraction outpost for with cargo links and everything, not delivering the resource to my main storage/crafting outpost. I realize I’m still not receiving any of it. Also the specific problem I have at the moment is this: I have my main storage/crafting base with all three links going out to all my extraction posts. The key ones are my iron post and my tungsten post, two different ones mind you. I have the iron post and main base directly linked but since I’m already using all 3 of my links at base I can’t directly ship tungsten to it, which is a BIG problem. So I thought ok, I only have one link on my iron base, so I’ll just build a new link there and link my iron post to my tungsten post and have my all tungsten shipped to the iron post. Then I’ll connect the incoming tungsten pad box to my main storage box(the box that’s feeding the outgoing iron pad) at the iron post and the iron pad will now ship both my iron post mats and my tungsten post mats back to main base. But I’m receiving no tungsten. The only thing I can think of is: A.) I don’t have enough available storage at main base so my tungsten can’t be delivered because it has nowhere to go. B.) I’ve somehow not linked it properly but I’m almost positive I have. C.) The transport ship the cargo link pad spawns is not fast enough? Idk. D) It’s glitched E.) Something entirely unknown to me. Anybody that has any idea what to do is welcome to suggest a solution.
Pick the Wanted trait, and your life are not gonna be that ease anymore, be it on ground or the open space. There's a ship flying and landed on my planet, I just watch them from afar, then about 10 bounty hunters get out of the ship, try to kill me, raided my outpost and ruined every buildings lol. It's a must have trait in every playthrough.

I think you can only connect two cargo links. So if you want a base to be receiving resources from several bases, you have to build more than one cargo link at that base. I could be wrong but that’s what I’ve found so far

Not sure if you're playing on PC, but after entering the outpost building mode and pressing V to switch the perspective, you can zoom in/out by sliding your mouse forward and backward. Weird how its not indicated, I found it out while getting frustrated with how the perspective was lol
Right now, it's a nightmare finding and navigating to your outpost/s. When you land, you generate one landing area. Then you place your outpost. Then, say, you leave the planet and later on fast travel to back to your outpost. The game then auto generates a SECOND landing area about 400m away. Before you know it you've got like 3 or 4 map icons for ONE location. It's insane and I can't believe nobody picked this up in QA. Also means that your outpost map icon ends up underneath the landing zone icon. When there's no dedicated menu to view and travel to all your outposts, it's pretty rough. Currently planning to not do any building or resource extraction. Will use a ship as a base, and buy any required resources. To re-cap, they have somehow managed to make settlement building more frustrating than in FO4.
There's a certain set of starter resources needed. It's something like 6-8 Adaptive Frames, 30 Iron, 18 Alumin[i]um, and a few other tidbits. That's enough for several extractors, storage containers, power generators, and a habitat building. E.g. for Iron harvesting each storage container can hold up to 150 units. So if you link 2 of them you'll end up with 300 units before they both cap out and need to be emptied.
I’m confused about the Cargo Link - Inter-System. I have helium, beryllium, and aluminum all at 1 outpost. I want to be able to transfer all of these materials to another outpost but the Cargo Link requires helium to operate. If I link the helium to the Cargo Link (outgoing) it gets no fuel. If I link it to the fuel pod, none of the helium goes to the output crate. I can’t seem to have it link from the fuel to the output crate so I can fuel the Cargo Link while also transferring the helium. Any help would be much appreciated
Is it possible to make outpost generate credits full automaticly? Like setup npc trading routes or add an NPC that sell my resources automaticl or something like that?
Honestly, I focused on getting outposts with Helium 3 so that I could refuel my ship. With just 3 outposts across the center of the map I was able to travel from Tau Ceti to Paradiso with the stock Frontier and no points in Astrodynamics without ever setting down in a Starpoint.
Hello, i would suggest aguide to outpost cargo link chain to craft high value xp or credits items for example the vytinium fuel rod would be greatly appreciated thank you very much for all your help
Quick and obvious question: Why is the height adjustment keys in base building different from that in ship building? They are doing the same job, no? And there are likely other differences in control scheme for otherwise identical functions.
Slightly off topic but is there a way to access your boxes in your home from your work benches? Rather than having to search through them, everything. Cheers
Theres going to be ao many QoL updates and additional parts to build with in both the ship and outposts. Or at least i hope so. And if im right i cant wait

Is there any way to auto-sell the stuff you make?
Is it possible to make outpost generate credits full automaticly? Like setup npc trading routes or add an NPC that sell my resources automaticl or something like that?
Honestly, I focused on getting outposts with Helium 3 so that I could refuel my ship. With just 3 outposts across the center of the map I was able to travel from Tau Ceti to Paradiso with the stock Frontier and no points in Astrodynamics without ever setting down in a Starpoint.
This is the 2nd video I've seen that mentions 8 outpost but my UI always says 7. Was there an update?
And how do you sell this stuff? my inventory is constantly overfull without even producing a thing :(
Hello, i would suggest aguide to outpost cargo link chain to craft high value xp or credits items for example the vytinium fuel rod would be greatly appreciated
thank you very much for all your help
Quick and obvious question: Why is the height adjustment keys in base building different from that in ship building? They are doing the same job, no? And there are likely other differences in control scheme for otherwise identical functions.
Can resources be shared between outpost?
I put down two solar generators. It still says producing zero power. It's super sunny currently. Any ideas what the problem could be?
Can you make a mega storage video? I.e a video on linking outpost and having storage for all base ores
for anyone doing a lot of mining with the laser, do yourself a favor and ADS, as this won't slow you down, and improve the beam strength
I just wish you could put all resources in one bin like the workshop in fallout and not have to play around with inventory organization for building
Slightly off topic but is there a way to access your boxes in your home from your work benches? Rather than having to search through them, everything. Cheers
Theres going to be ao many QoL updates and additional parts to build with in both the ship and outposts. Or at least i hope so. And if im right i cant wait
holy moly, im still not that far jet, but do you mean with this video, so in fact we can play factorio kinda things in starfield?
Do you have to build or buy the cargo ships yourself? Can the ships get attacked on their trip to another colony?
nope, they're spawned in, you can get attacked by pirate,s, but I don't think they attack ships
@@TotalXclipse thanks
No matter what I do the Cargo Link doesn't send stuff to the outgoing box. I cannot figure it out.
Is Outpost Building part of any of the Missions or completely independent?
The number of outposts allowed... is that number of outpost buildings or the number of outpost locations (like a dozen or so planets/moons)?
I need to try and find a safe planet with basic resources I’m assuming there has to be some near the beginning systems right?
