Those were the days we could still do Police work. Now it's different. I even walked a Foot Patrol for years, got to meet people One on One without a Police Car Shell. In 2000 it seemed like nothing but Cal to Call, no investigation time. Now it's all Computer this and that. I started in 1974 as a Dispatcher, 1977 went on the Street, 2010 retired. Hundreds and Hundreds of good contacts and nice people, then there were the Morons and then outright Criminals. Watched sooo many people take their last breath, Three Close Quarters Shootings at me. Numerous Pot Shots from the Projects. I miss the excitement of Radio Calls and Not Knowing what was around the next corner and staying Tactically prepared. Met some great Cops, knew some Criminal Cops, watched some Cops go to Prison Good Cops had to wear the Black Eye from the Bad Cops. Nasty Fast Food. So many changes in my PD now, I only know 4 or 5 people still there. Anyone remember "The New Centurions"? That was us. Where did all that time go?

@@mattnik You seem to know that Simplex does not travel far as it is not repeated to communications. You LAPD, former or a guy who listens to police radio traffic?
@aidenschvatkok5732 You are right. We went to simplex not to clog up the frequency. It can backfire if other units should know to either stay out of the area or you need help and other units do not know where you are or what you are doing. Someone in the unit should always stay on base frequency.

I can't imagine this was filmed 25 years ago. 😢 Some of the cops here are probably now in their 60s or 70s.
Actually, one of them is now the interim chief of police. Dominic Choi.
I know. Time flies eh?

Thank you. I was wondering when this was filmed.

Me too. We had the caprice classic and pagers. Not even a car phone. If we were paged, we hunted up a payphone.
8:55 Wow, three different generations of crown vics in a row!
Good eye!
Beautiful
That and the Chevy caprice
They were Tanks compared to the other Cars. Caprice was a good car too.
Jezz looking at it now, it's like looking at past, present and future
Back in the days when criminals actually went to jail for more than a couple of hours….
