Heard lots of good things about this show, so I don't doubt it.. but man, I just can't take it seriously entirely because of both Rise of Lyric and how *as far as it seems to me,* Boom was supposed to be a full reboot until Lyric bombed and they had to backpedal. tbh not really. I think it’s true in some cases. But it is Important to remember that because woman have been excluded from a looot of activities, like football, they are going be objectively worse (same thing with countries that don’t play some sports, e.g: Russia sucks at football). So, it will take a looong time to really reach that equality. Only when female gender people would be raised in the same circumstances as male.

Honestly Knuckles put it perfectly. The fact Amy is playing with men is _already_ proof of her gender equality, but she’s totally blind to it. She undermines the whole thing by making it into a contest. In her mind she needs to BEAT a man (Sonic) to prove she’s equal. But that’s not equality, that’s just competition. And you don’t compete to prove you’re equal, you compete to prove you’re better.

Knuckles hits the nail on the head. I work in the automotive industry and it drives me up the wall when people go out of their way to tell me how cool it is to see a woman that works with cars. because it always implied that me wanting to work on cars was unusual.
It was just yesterday when he made fun of rouge's one polygon tits and being addicted to weed and now he's a feminist, that's some character development right there
I think he's just in awe that Knuckles said something that intellectual, but Tails kind of strikes me as the type of guy to take the "female power" part of feminism at face value(Amy) and to not understand the "equal power" part of feminism(Knuckles).
To this day I'm impressed that Knuckles addressed pseudo-feminism so intelligently. In stories, we don't want to see strong female characters, we want to see strong characters who happen to be female.
Sadly though, Its *Knuckles* saying it, though. It feels so good having Amy Rose like this in Sonic Boom because her characterization in the Sonic franchise has always been so aimless and utilitarian: as a damsel, the pink girl version of the protagonist, or as an alternative stand-in for Sally Acorn when she couldn't be used in some situations. Amy gets a chance to be a character in her own right when certain writing teams choose to take ownership of her, but it is not consistent, even when its good. So Amy as this amusing parody of a Girl Power 90s character with a thing for the protagonist is perfect in a parody series. But Knuckles? He's a bit clueless and naive, but he's never really been a clueless, meathead himbo like this. The flandarization has been bad enough already, with his legitimacy as a Sonic rival being pushed aside by the presence of Shadow. Boom Knuckles is a tremendously fun character, but I just wish it was a new echidna altogether. It would lampshade the comics Echidna nonsense and keep the Knuckles characterization more consistent. And yeah, I 100% could see OG Knuckles being a feminist, its also part of why its kinda less funny that way- he would expect any Echidna to take on their sacred duty, regardless of biology. He's a bit boring in that sense. The movies have been a nice compromise.
Knuckles just pointed out the problem that all those awful female empowerment movies try to cover The cartoon echidna literally handles this subject better than most big budget films
And it looks like all those films dont even want to point the problem bc they be like "we want u to watch us. Are u a feminist? We give u feminism 👍" but all they give us is a cringe.
Because the big budgets only focus on the message or the money that flows from it. It gets even messier when they are pressured by social quo. Hence we get to the ultimate folly of the cancel culture that's been happening: "Obey every rhetoric that we make or you don't deserve to even exist"

Roasting him, the series, Sega, and the fans in the best a great roaster would, telling jokes that come from the heart with the intent to make you laugh and entertain.
The actual funny part is that a 'good feminist' is not a feminist, but an Egalitarian. Feminism, as the name implies, only cares about improving the rights of women.
@@CaptainDCap Well can't you be both at the same time? Pretty sure you could be a feminist and an egalitarian at the same time, I really don't see how being one would stop the other? Can't you be for improving the rights of women and be for improving the rights of humanity as a whole at the same time?
And here where I live they are saying that no man can be a feminist. If you are a feminist, you have to be female... it sounds so wrong to me. Feminism where I live has been sounding extremely wrong for three years now, for more reasons than the male-feminist exclusion. One of which I am so much the target of is aggresiveness to males... just because. Really, feminism here feels more like an attack or challenge against males to bring out any mysoginist conduct as small as it is.
True feminists don't bring up gender into situations like these or throw the gender card into arguments. By doing that, it undermines the entire concept of what feminism is meant to be about: gender equality.
True Feminists bring up gender into situations because if they didn't, they wouldn't have things to complain about. Feminism is privileges and rights without responsibilities.

@@placeholder2937 If there were no female athletes that have already done exactly what Amy is parroting here, then Knuckles would in fact be in the wrong. But as it stands now, there are female athletes that have already shown that women can compete to a high degree in sports. And it's not to say that those women did so without barriers to entry, or challenges in their lives, but rather to show that by Amy constantly spouting "Can the young woman break the Glass Ceiling?" she is inadvertently hurting other female athletes chances of getting their own accomplishment recognized because by parroting this particular talking point in activities or areas of life that are not relevant, she's stripping it of its value. So of there were ever a case where a woman was barred from entry into a field that actually DOESN'T allow women to freely enter, then it would likely get overlooked and or squashed into all the jumbled up mess of talking points that no longer hold any relevance since women are now freely allowed to compete in those fields. Sure, there are cases when sexsism actually occurs and it hurts women's chances in the fields that do allow women to work, but, by constantly running around saying that gender equality ISN'T being fought for or that it's non-existent in today's world, she's more or less reversing all the progress made by women who really and truly DO want to be seen as equals. Basically, what Knuckles is saying is that, if we all are truly equal, then you shouldn't get some special fanfare SOLELY on the basis of her being a female and 3/5 of them being male. Heck, Sticks is female, couldn't she just as well be BETTER than Amy? And at the end of the day, that's all anyone watching would really care about if this were a professional setting. Is she good enough at the game to make the kick? Yes, well then she stays on the team/gets a good career. No, well then she's most likely going to get traded. Same applies to a male athlete. But really, it's just a joke that actually makes a lot of sense is all. Feel free to disagree, but honestly, I think this makes a lot of sense to even the most neutral person when it comes to politics. Anyways, I hope I explained that properly.
His statement works for pretty much anything about trying to make two social groups treated the same way despite minor differences. Bringing up those differences when they're too small to matter in context just makes them stand out more in general and keeps the stereotypes alive. It's like saying "Remember to treat X group like human beings!" to a room where nobody goes against X group. Makes more sense to say "Remember everyone is a human being and serves to be treated as such.". He explains it so beautifully, and it's seriously mpressive that this perfect explanation was something he came up with on the spot, in just 5 seconds.

@@ststst981 I’d argue the opposite. While technically I’d say that Knuckles comment would align more with 1st or second wave feminism. Although I’d lean towards second wave. These were focused more on actual equality. The 1st wave being political equality, mainly the right to vote, and 2nd wave being social equality, sexual liberation etc. I’d say that you could argue that his comment could fall into either of these categories as his primary argument is not really about gender, but rather is about ignoring gender in instances where it is irrelevant. Third wave feminism generally does the opposite of this and often injects gender discrimination into places that it really doesn’t exist, a good example of this is the gender pay gap myth. Many third wave feminists were going around saying that women were paid less hourly then men, implying that this was due to gender. This was however not the case as, they didn’t factor in the difference in job preference. Women as a whole generally chose jobs that were more socially minded and that they could have more free time whereas men usually chose jobs where there less free time but more pay: hence why decades after women’s lib men (as a whole) generally make more than women. Men have also been noted to on average be more likely to take double shifts and stay late than women which further contributes to this. The main take away from this however is that it’s not that there is some anti female bias, but rather that men and women are fundamentally different in some ways and thus make different choices. Anyways back to knuckles and Amy. Amy was clearly showing third wave feminist tendencies. As she was injecting a minute supposed problem where she perceived an injustice where there in fact was is none. Talking about her breaking a nonexistent (or at least irrelevant) glass ceiling like it was some kind of grand feminist statement when in reality she was just kicking a ball. In conclusion if I were to compare first second and third-wave feminism to anything and least speaking in a very stereotypical manner (we are dealing with memes after all) I’d say that Amy is definitely a 3rd wave feminist (and kind of a Karen) and Knuckles is more of a first/second wave.
@@tworpish Yeah how is that? First wave feminism mainly centered around the right to vote. This movement primarily took place around the previous turn of the century, late 1800s and early 1900s. So what am I missing here? The main point of my comment was more that third many wave feminists talk about useless stuff that aren’t actually problems and are more about building up their own egos than actual equality which was what Knuckles was talking about.
No... knuckles much closer aligns with “third wave” feminism, first wave feminism was still rife with sexism, and second wave was all about “woo, girl power!” Shit, a bit like Amy here. Liberal identity politics. While knuckles portrays the third wave, intersectional identity politics. To put it in simpler terms liberal identity politics is voting for Obama because he’s black and, oh gosh golly gee wouldn’t it be neat to have a black president and voting for Bernie sanders, who while being a straight white man, has better policies that help the minority population
So Amy should have said, "Alright, it all comes down to this, can I make this goal?" instead of saying "Alright, it all comes down to this, can I, a young woman, break gender roles and make this goal?" I also noticed how no one said she couldn't do it because she was a girl. No one playing was sexist. She kinda just brought that up out of nowhere.

Take heed, Disney live-action remakes like The Little Mermaid 2023 and Mulan 2020 that don't get how strong females are supposed to work!
Knuckles just pointed out the problem that all those awful female empowerment movies try to cover

Amen! And it's something very accurate what Knuckles said!
“So let me get this straight: You think a fictional, anthropomorphic, talking, red echidna understands feminism better than most actual feminists?”
“I do, and I’m tired of pretending he doesn’t”.

Amy: The Virgin 3rd wave feminist
Knuckles: The Chad 1st wave feminist
Amy's comment more falls in line with 2nd wave/bougeoisie feminism, knuckles falls more in 3rd wave feminist theory, funny enough
@@thedukeofchutney468 my dude please read actual feminist theory, instead of believing what right wing TH-camrs say feminism is
No... knuckles much closer aligns with “third wave” feminism, first wave feminism was still rife with sexism, and second wave was all about “woo, girl power!” Shit, a bit like Amy here.
So Amy should have said, "Alright, it all comes down to this, can I make this goal?" instead of saying "Alright, it all comes down to this, can I, a young woman, break gender roles and make this goal?"
I also noticed how no one said she couldn't do it because she was a girl. No one playing was sexist. She kinda just brought that up out of nowhere.
Fr it was so cringe (I’m a girl btw) and knuckles is completely right
Sonic Boom Amy can have a pretty bad personality at times.

@@rugalbernstein5913 And then there's Archie Sonic...Amy what were you thinking
I mean to be fair she did run at super speed in Sonic Heroes
I feel like sonic has perfect control over his speed, and can engage as much or as little as he can. He would value having fun with his friends so when engaging in foot races or sports like this he might be just a smidgen faster but otherwise competing on their level.
Much like a healthy relationship ship with a parent and child when throwing a football or baseball, sure the parent can throw the ball farther than the kid, but they do not go full on. Instead throwing it with just enough force.
