Old Army buddy got me into Mousing and it's a blast! Walk in while its still light out and sit and B.S. till it gets dark. Wading Belt was a great point to emphasize. Bring a big net and crimp your barb for your own safety. Thanks for the great informative video.
This might sound sadistic but one thing to point out but, mice can’t actually fight the current in most rivers especially the smaller field mice or hopping mice. Next time you go out shake a few of the tag alders and try to get one to plop in the water, they usually have their head perpendicular to the bank and make a big wake going down stream trying to fight the current. Helps to imitate that if it’s a real bright night or the fish are very finicky.
@@HarleyJetSled That’ll work most of the time and it’s my go to but I’ve definitely noticed some nights they like the more natural up stream approach. Just gotta play with it and you can’t do anything wrong in mousing that’s why I love it
Do not mistakenly leave sunflower seeds in the pocket of your waders when storing them or else mice will eat through anything and everything to get to them. Don't ask me how I know that... I won't be taking any questions.

Great point!
45 degrees downstream with a steady retrieve gets it done for me most nights.

Great informational video Matt. Thanks for the effort.
I’m heading up to Marquette on the 9th until the 15th, I’m from southwest Michigan so I’m eager to try for some nice sized trout!
That's awesome! We love heading North and exploring the U.P.! Let us know how you do.
let’s go
