It never grows old, watching these videos. Each one is like a specially wrapped gift with a surprise or two inside. Thank you so much for the effort you make to produce, edit and post these vlogs for our enjoyment. Having once worked at Air France for nearly 20 years, it holds a special place in my heart.
@John Mils I’m trying to digest what you just stated has to do and what context does it have with this video sir. Maybe you can school me on what relation it has with the airport and take off as a whole! There’s tons of videos where that can be debated and talked about. So if you don’t mind, don’t bore us please, you’re the only one who seems to be off. Spare yourself the energy and let us enjoy seeing our airport here!
@@mkmnguni4487 You might sometimes want to go just next to these lights. You are not perfectly in the centreline but it is still acceptable and more comfortable as much as you don't exaggerate.
Why flaps 15? Most 777 takeoffs with a full load on a long runway would default to flaps 5, can anyone explain what the conditions were in this case that required flaps 15 for the takeoff configuration?
VERY HIGH ELEVATION AIPORT where air density is lower. THE RUNWAY IS MORE THAN 4KM LONG AS WELL. This is why their rotating speed is quite high as well.
It depends on the weight, the weather, the runway length, the elevation,... Everything is taken into account in order to choose the most optimal flap setting for departure. Nowadays, pilots have computers to calculate these things.
Runway length limited (short runway), second segment requirement (high elevation and high surrounding terrain) or performance after liftoff concern (such as noise abatement procedures or Windshear precaution) . Only in those cases it will be consider to sacrifice flap wear (greater flap setting) . None the less now a days the OPT (on board performance tool) takes this and everything else (barometric pressure, barometric altitude, wind, weight, MEL items, Notams, runway slope, etc etc) into consideration and gives you the optimum flap setting for that specific take off
I wonder how much money would airliners save if they were able to be pushed all the way to take off runway and the plane only start the engines when it's about to take off. It would save a fortune on idle and taxing if you account for all the large several hundred passengers fleet.

Wow, maps, annotations, clear video and audio and no stupid music - this is the real deal. Thank you
Glad to see my lovely country's international airport!!!

@John Mils Your point?

Always so nice to watch!! 🇿🇦💜🇿🇦
Merci !
Really cool to see a pilots perspective of an airport I've flown to so often. Watching something so big fly will never stop being impressive.
Home sweet home with a few recognisable voices on the radio. Lol. Nice video as always. Keep it up.
I can’t believe you were so close to me two weeks ago and you go all around the globe 🥺
Merci Guillaume, du super boulot comme toujours.

Bonjour Guillaume,
Merci
Takeoff from my home😍😌
It's nice to know that you and I were in the same country.
Aah yes, my beautiful city.
Great video, why was the takeoff segment so turbulent? Is it the runway?
He was probably trying to hit EVERY Light in the middle of the runway
You have to hit the lights to stay straight down the rnwy

Wow, just in time before takeoff 😊
JoBerg ? How many times have I flown out of that airport? 16 hour flight to Atlanta twice per month for 3 years.
Are you serious? Wow

Salut Guillaume. Tu utilises quel logiciel de montage ?
gotta love that joburg accent

Wow, actuallu playing the latest flight simulator has made me understand what all these terms they're saying before take off!
Damn, 95% french but still a smashing video. Had to sub.
Living the dream of many..
j'ai hâte
DAMN ,,I thought I WOULD SEE MY HOUSE!!!
Me too Ed! 🤣
Did this replace the A380 ? I am pretty sure I took AF 995 to Paris in 2010 but I definitely flew in an Airbus A380
Nice video!
Waiting
I still believe that one day you'll fly to LAD and make a video just like this one, for my satisfaction.
Please do more videos from indian airports
Oui!
I felt as if I were a pilot while watching this.
C'est bien tres bein même bravo
How to enable subtitles?
👍🏻👍🏻 Miss flying
I love your editing as well. Which software you use for edits?
missing home again now
Merci super de void l'aeroport de ma ville natale

Extra lift. Johannesburg airport is 5500ft above sea level

Wanna go back to South Africa :(

Is that to Paris France (CDG)
Is there some reason pilots like to bang bang bang the nose gear on the center line lights? Would 2 feet to the left or right be a big deal?
coupez les phares for the Embraer, such courtesy
Is this FALA or FAOR?
My country🥺🥺🥺
Im a qualified pilot now. :)))
Lovely!!!

Why did they take off in 4K?
surprised they were parked at an apron and not at the main terminal with a jetway

Should be renamed Johannesburg taxi lol

Hi pilot idol
Beautiful what at 8:00
Pretty much used the whole runway for take off and Jourg has extra long runway.
High altitude, longer distance required typically
among other things :)
