    Hello , I havee it since 5 years ago and she is wonderfull ....................It' s small but it's discret ...............i use it all seasons in woods in montains ...............
    I appreciate the quality of the materials, the little condensation, its reasonable weight, its discretion and the possibility of sleeping under the stars using just the mosquito net ....... Thank you for honoring the one that follows me when hiking and buschraft ........... ciao ..... Long live the green.

    I have had one for two years. Treated her badly. Bulletproof. Little small for me (6', 220lbs) when I have Thermarest XTherm + Winter bag. Love it to death. Much better than no hoop bivies. Recommended. Thanks for the review.

    Great video - very informative! A small detail I liked was that the same pegs that holds out the corners of the mesh can also be used for the fly, thus potentially saving four pins. Also helpful to see how to enter and exit the rather small opening.
    It is a pity that Snugpak didn't put the door along the entire side, between the poles. (If so, the door could perhaps be also staked out in windless conditions like a tiny tarp covering the boots or something else)

  • @CottonBud
    @CottonBud 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    Very detailed setup Scott - it can be a bit confusing when you first get one as there are a lot of pegs! I love mine for what it is : if you think of it as a tent you'll be quite frustrated at the compromises, but when you realise it's more of a super luxury bivvy it's superb. I can't see me getting rid of mine ever. All the best. Rich

    I love low profile tents like this as they are bomber. I just wish they would be made in such a way as they can be pitch together. Trying to pitch this in a rain storm would be a nightmare. Inner would be soaked by the time you get the outer on

    • @Ro7ard
      @Ro7ard 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The Eureka! Solitaire AL is exactly that. It's got solid reviews and a cheap price tag, but the colors are a bit off putting unfortunately...

      You could also temporarily string up and stake a large poncho or smaller tarp between two trees to give you some cover from the rain

    Oh wow Scotty your very own one man Slug-skin tent. I am guessing that it doesn't go along the ground leaving a silvery trail so stealth camping will be on the cards. Once you have the labels in place other Slugpak users will recognise you and if they miss you then all you have to do is bring out the torch:)

    good little bivi tent that is.. the advantage over the stratophere is condensation.. which effects the footbox area and dampens the bottom of your bag.. you wont get that in a ionisphere. and, wait for it.. just use the inner as bug bivi or wind dissipater and put a tarp over it.. I bought a 10*8 rab 3 just for the purpose.. only took delivery the other week.. 9*9 tarps don't fully work, as its a tad to small if you want to cover the bivi as a normal flysheet. and although it might be considered heavy for a one man bivi tent, its a four season tent that is bombproof.

    Great review and it looks really good. It's got great reviews on Amazon uk. Just wondering will this bivi keep out the Scottish midges especially in the highlands? Nothing worst when they get in to greet you for the night! Will it survive in any Scottish weather? Like winds and heavy rain? Thanks for the review! Stay safe!

      I don't know if you ever got one or not, but I can tell you I know a few military guys who have used this tent across the globe and it always held up to bugs and other crap that was thrown at it. Bosnia, Syria, numerous parts of Africa and South America where the mosquitos are literal killers. The only place it sucks is in the desert after a dust storm lol.

    • @bushcraftandastronomer.3775
      @bushcraftandastronomer.3775 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Ro7ard I recently tested this bivi tent and I must say the waterproof rating wasn't that good. I got wet in heavy rain and I'm glad it kept the Scottish highland midges out because the midges is the worst biting insect ever. I'd say get waterproof spray to give it extra waterproof layer.
      Even the British SAS fear the Scottish highland midges because the sheer numbers of them.
      I thought the ground sheet could be better for the waterproof rating and the poles and pegs are good quality. The bivi tent is a great weight not heavy. All in all a good lightweight bivi tent that needs extra waterproofing then it will be great for hiking and wild camping!

    • @Ro7ard
      @Ro7ard 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@bushcraftandastronomer.3775 After reading your comment I was absolutely shocked so just did a bit of searching.
      Apparently Snugpaks quality has seriously dipped during the covid years. I saw a couple videos of their tarps and tarp shelters being tested and that was the exact issue as well as poor stitching. I think they may have switched factories or cheaped out on the coating process recently. It's baffling to me, because Canadian/American troops would regularly ditch their issued tents/bivis in exchange for these. I have a friend who took his on multiple deployments since 2014 and he always spoke so highly of it... Really unfortunate to hear because I've loved the company for years. It's reminding me of what happened with Karrimor

    • @bushcraftandastronomer.3775

      @@Ro7ard I gong to use it more once waterptroofed more by myself as I do like it. I always ask a neighbour if it's really used in the British army as he was in army for 33 years
      To make sure if it's military gear I ask him. I'm going to do mods to this bivi tent as I have a few ideas. One tent that has done me so good is the mountain warehouse backpacker 2 man tent lightweight and still going strong.
      MSR hubba shield I was going to get it but went for this bivi tent instead. I don't regret it as I hear MSR tents don't stand up well in strong winds. I bought snugpak ponchio and it's great. I own snugpak scorpion 2 tent 4 season as it's lightweight.
      This bivi tent will do me good in near future!
