A quick message to everyone that blames the shop every time something happens, Chris is actually a good friend of mine aside from being a customer, and every time something has happened It has been a small issue, last time was an ignition fuse that the LED headlights were spliced into that came out, and this time the coupler popped out and the turbo side coupler hit the manifold and melted. These are all small issues and the engine and transmission are perfectly fine, when you push a car to 4x the factory power, things are bound to break, it’s all about how you handle It as a shop 👍😉.

Damn I've never blown off a IC pipe on my Evo IX in nearly 14 years of ownership. Still on the same ETS intercooler with the clamps and couplers provided in their kit and I'm boosting around 34 psi daily.
Bro you did everything to the car except all the important safety parts ..you have no heat shield by the fire wall with tubular manifold..that tubular gets so hot and melted the coupler ..should put reflective tap or heatrap something to protect from the heat before you burn to the ground

If you are blowing intercooler pipes off get some good aerosol hairspray and spray it on the silicone and pipe. Slide it together quickly tighten the clamp and the hairspray will help hold it together really really good. Been doing that trick for years
Us diesel folks use long silicone couplers to clamp 2 on each side which helps wear significantly. Never had an issue let alone always use thread locker and a lock nut!!

I shredded that coupler on mine after I hard piped the uicp. If you don't line it up right the coupler stretches on the back and gets squished in the front. I loosened all the clamps from the top of the intercooler to the turbo and wiggled everything till it was all relaxed then tightened it all down.
My STi would blow the IC piping off at least 2-3Xs per week! It's easy to do. Unfortunately the Evo X has the Headers in the back by the piping. He should wrap the coupler in Lava Rock header wrap!
Seriously how do you not buy reinforced couplers when pushing all that boost? Seriously, many companies make couplers and grommets that would never burst or come off, rated at 60psi. Did these two buy their cars or work on them themselves?
