As you are sitting at your sewing machine you reminded me of my Grandfather, a master tailor. In 1950/1960 he had the only contact in the USA to mended the Flag that flew over the US Capital. Ortenzio Grandinetti, Johnstown PA. He was So proud to be an American.
His sewing machine was a peddler with a leather drive belt.

I've grown to look forward to your weekly videos, for years now I've watched each week with increasing interest. I find all of your videos very interesting and a delight to watch. So much of what you do I've done myself. I'm a restorer of early cars so much of what you do with horse drawn vehicles crosses over into my area of interest. Watching you make the headliner in this episode made me smile because I've been there myself. It can be really hard to get the cloth to lie smooth. I know from personal experience just how much time goes into making a top (or hood as we call them in England) You make it look far easier than it often is, its lovely to watch an experienced craftsman at work. I envy your lovely large layout table and the great idea of a roll holder mounted on the wall at the end of it. I find myself wondering why I didn't think of doing that before now! Thank you so much for taking the time to make and publish these fascinating insights into carriage making. For me they're the best thing on TH-cam.

I would love to have a powerful upholstery machine as we had in school but sadly I am no longer able body enough to use them anymore. It is a joy to watch you piece together the top from so many pieces. I wouldn't have a clue where to begin. I enjoyed the work but was never very good. But then who is at that age, about 13 I think.

Watching this from start to finish I recognise that over the years a good many experience based improvements are made such as to roller bearing hubs.
Here we have a buggy made how. It would have looked long ago.
But with all that experience I can't help but wonder what a modern buggy would look like if that evolution hadn't been cut short by the automobile.
Just maybe Dave might design one and build it. It would be a 21st century buggy. But a buggy, not a Tesla, to you see what I mean?
