- My new EDC, the Canik SFX Rival! Got some range footage as well as an unboxing, and I talk about some of the things to look out for if you plan to purchase this pistol for yourself!

I just had my 18th birthday yesterday. We decided to drive out to lexington kentucky to the air museum. Then we went to buds gunshop/range. Brother and dad brought their carry guns in and i rented one of these to shoot. Brothers being a sig p365 xmacro with i think a holosun(not sure) and dads being a M9A4. We go to the range regularly(outdoor range) and shot this thing on the indoor and loved the feel of it, accuracy, recoil, comfort and trigger. I was honestly expecting it to be at least $1000 while i was shooting it. Managed to get a few 1-2" groups at 25yds iron sights(for me id say thats pretty good considering i mostly shoot shotguns and rifles) but i was real shocked to see the msrp is only around $680.
Yes!! I picked mine up for $600. They will probably get cheaper due to the steel model being out now
I think this is the first videioon the Canik Rival SFX I've found that has anything negative to say about it. Those do seem like mostly minor and/or cosmetic issues. I've already bought my Rival Dark Side and even if I'd seen this video beforehand, I think I would have bought it anyway. Thank you for sharing your experience.

Definitely concealable. My edc is the Tp9sfx with a Holosun 407c and x300 style weapon light with talon Pro grips. I carry it is a Mckinatec aiwb lightbearing holster black multicam and I love it.
I carry an 18rd flush fit mag in the pistol and someday I'll carry a 20rd back up mag. 39rds should cover many scenarios.
Sig V Crown 115gr jhp is my choice for defensive ammo.
Nice!! How does the 115gr work in the pistol? Any issues in feeding and chambering?
@@dfwgunworks2898 excellent brother! I've ran everything from factory to remanufactured, 147, 124 and 115gr jhp and fmj and no issues in over 2,000 rds.

That’s legit and good to know! Usually i stick with 124gr, but been getting alot of bad primers in my Winchester and Browning boxes of ammo. Might be time to switch to 115gr haha

It can be carried. I do. Some men have become divas carrying cute small 3" barrel micro guns. Many of us, though, prefer to carry mid to full-size handguns. That's all.

Canik SFx Rival not really meant for EDC mostly competition and target practice and why I wouldn't carry it for EDC? Trigger is just to light, would however use it for home protection. My Dark Side came with five optics plates, really like the SFx Rival especially the trigger. Hope you contact Canik about the aluminum base plate and other issues you had?

I don't have any of those issues with my Rival. The only one you mentioned that I care about really is the ammo issue, but easily solved by staying away from Steel case.
Keep to the video title.. too much time wasted on 'unboxing' info which is found already in so many videos.

My duty carry is 93 grain Fiocchi EMB and I've never had a failure to lock back. It may be due to you thumbing the slide.
I got the charging handle in mine. Not sure how I feel about it, mostly just not interested. Glad I didn’t have to spend extra to find that out though.
Yea it’s neat, will def run for the competition shooting. However it will just give away that I’m carrying appendix if I run it full time lol

It’s the Hyperion appendix rig from legacy firearms co. I believe I may have been the g first to get it lol

I get saving money, I'm not swimming in $ but steel cased ammo is something I can't do to my pew pews. Good review, just bought the Rival Trophy edition & it's a great shooter.
Yea I try to run some steel through them just to give them some break in with dirty stuff, as well as with brass. Tbh a lot of the steel I had I bought at the verge of the ammo pandemic. When you had to wait outside academy at 6am just to get 2 boxes lol

Yo will that holster work for the Rival S as a concealed carry?
The gray holster? No. That is outside the waistband only, and even then i would recommend something a little more sturdy, it feels like you can crush the holster in your hands if you squeeze hard enough
Mine doesn’t lock back sometimes when empty even shooting 124 grain brass
It’s probably from your hands riding the slide lock because it sometimes happens to me
Sorry for the late reply, what were you referring to exactly?
You mentioned that the slide sometimes doesn’t lock back after the last round and that could be due to you accidentally hitting the slide release. I have the rival and the elite sc and it does it to me.
I agree. It happens ALL THE TIME. CLICK NO BANG. US the slide does hang on ALL Caniks. I hv three. Cannot be trusted to carry.
Just a question since u carry, do u carry it chambered and if so arent u afraid it will go off ?? Still debating if i should appendix carry loaded
Great question, sorry for the late reply. Yes, I do carry appendix on every one of my firearms, and no, not afraid it will go off. Most pistols have several safeties, including a firing pin block that (in theory) won’t let the firing pin past it, unless the trigger is pulled. There are other safeties in place too, like the trigger shoe safety, etc. if you’re truly worried about a pistol going off in your pants, you can carry a single double action hammer fired pistol, decocked. Most duty double action triggers exceed 10lbs, so you’ll know for sure if the trigger is getting snagged on something. But also, can never go wrong with a Glock. Mechanically, the safest striker fired pistol on the market. Being that there isn’t a striker under tension, it’s at rest and comes under tension once the trigger is pulled.

Not really. Glock eats every type of ammo. No slide hanging issues. No Click No Bang issues. Poor quality internals and sub standard machining issues.

Canik are CHEAP. It shows. Over time a lot of issues will show up. That's reality of Cheap Material.

What Evidence. U hv 3 Caniks. ALL MISFIRE, CLICK NO BANG issues. Ever person in the club has the same problems. Rival, elite combat executive, sfx. The weapon is junk. Can never carry. Donot trust it. Period.
If you want EVIDENCE, type "Canik issues" or "Canik click, no bang", or "Rival issues". Pleanty of EVIDENCE out there. Need to do proper search on youtube. It's all there in in HD.
