The price comes down with a few chinese made parts that get quality tested by them and assembled at their plant. I really like the fully packed case and spares for competition use.
I own a Canik SFX Rival Darkside. It is a superb handgun. Very accurate, dependable, with the finest smooth trigger pull and great ergonomics. It is a phenomenal handgun for less than half the price of equivalent "big names." I got a MeCanik RDO installed, and made it into a tack driver. I am very pleased with it. By the way, I also own the two Canik METE models, the SFT and the SFX. All three are superior handguns, go Canik!
@@BloodySoup74I love the Walther PDP Pro, the CZ P10F, the Sig Sauer P320 M17, the FNH 509 Tactical (with an Apex aluminum flat face trigger), the Canik METE SFT PRO; you just love one gun?
@@v.german11b I figure not lol. I love most of the ones I have. I was just saying you have 4 Caniks. You should love them if you bought 4 different Canik models lol. This is the 1st Canik for me so I'm a little nervous. I have HK's, Walther's, and Sig's. If this Canik was one those then the price would have doubled at least. I took a chance but from all the reviews it looks like a winner.
@@BloodySoup74I am extremely pleased with all my Canik pistol models. Currently, I own the Canik METE SFT, the SFT Pro, the METE SFx, the SFx Rival Darkside, and, a couple of weeks ago, I found a great deal on an used TP9 SF. So, I now have 5 Caniks. *They are THAT good.*
i have exactly the same pistol. Completely reliable, first class construction, flat shooting, extremely accurate and very fast. Mec-Gar make the mags and 20 rounders are available. These are the qualities that I want in a carry weapon.. I'm a bodyguard and this is my choice of weapon. I'm able to carry it, as it fits nicely otwb and set high.

I run this canik sfx rival and its by far my favorite gun. Ive ran the sig p320 for the past couple of years and this gun blows that out of the water. Not only for competition but also going to the range with people that don’t normally shoot. If only i could find some more magazines
I’m a Canik fan. I have tried several different brands over the years until I bought my first Canik. It does everything and better than many more expensive brands. They have been very aggressive in the market making improvements and the Rival is great!
I was going to buy the Canik Rival DarkSide; but I last minute decided to go instead with the Walther PDP 5 inch, full size. I added a StreamLight green laser/light combo and a Delta Point Pro Red Dot 🔴. Then I installed a stainless steel guide rod with an 11lb spring. With the reduced spring weight it’s still very reliable, yet shoots soooooo flat. I still have love for the Canik Rival, but I have no regrets buying my PDP.
I literally had 3 handguns in mind when I went to purchase my new EDC/home defense/duty pistol. My choices were the CZ P10C/F, Walther PDP, and Canik METE/Rival. I’m a big CZ fan but, my local gun shop didn’t have any P10 C’s or F’s in stock. They had all the new Walther PDP’s and was going to get a shipment of Rival’s within the week. I already knew how the CZ P10C/F handles and shoots (phenomenal gun). I decided to tryout two PDP models, a tp9sfx, and the METE SFT (alongside a Shadow 2 & Staccato C2 for fun). After 4 hours of range time, I decided to commit to a Walther PDP 4.5in FS. The PDP just felt and shot better to me overall, when compared to the Caniks. Triggers were fairly similar but, I preferred the flat face shoe on the Walther. THE GRIP, the grip was imho the deciding factor. The Walther snug into my hand much better and seemed to return to zero slightly quicker than both Canik’s. That said, in the future I WILL be purchasing a Rival and CZ P10C/F. I love CZ ‘s hammer fired guns so I need to add one of their polymer/striker fired guns.
I loved your review on the Canik. I have a ppq m2 scle as well as the Canic mete sft. Both shoot unbelievably well. So from one Walther lover to another, great job.
I don't have any interest in competition shooting but love to go out and plink. After all of the reviews I've seen, it seems perfect for what I want it to do.
One of the items in the mini-gun / wrench is a threaded pin that screws in to the optic plates which lets you rack it off a table or other objects... Sorry you didn't shoot it well, but my Canik Rival black is the best shooting gun I've ever had... Works perfectly for me.
It's a great value. I still think the XD elite OSP series is really the one to beat for the money. 599 gets you a total of 5 mags and a range bag. You also don't lose your rear sight with an Optic either.
Good review. I own a Rival and it is a great pistol. Actually they are based on a Walther so I'm surprised you struggled a little shooting it. Freedom smith makes custom back straps and mag plates you can add some weight to the gun with but I don't know where that would put you in competition. Also Taylor Freelance makes triggers that can actually improve the already great trigger so there are custom option for the Rival. Keep up the good reviews !
Great video that covers all aspects in an informative way. Thanks for putting together the video. And, it tell a lot when you share - I didn't shoot well with the pistol, but like it. If you get your own hopefully you can adjust it such that you shoot well with it. And, if so, maybe you'll do a follow up video?
It used to bother me when you'd loose the rear iron sight, however if you're mainly using it for competition like I am, having the optic alone make sense; I don't really care for co witnessing now that I've gotten used to with red dot optics.
i would say as hard as it is to find extra mags for this, its probably due to supply line issues, since it just came out, they probably were going to and didnt because of supply
Good review. On the dark side the rear sight optics plate isn't adjustable its just a fixed sight fyi. How do you like the optic you have on this pistol have you done a review on the MS-2?
Good review but I don’t know if anyone told you but the optic mount for the darkside with the iron sight is not adjustable and you can only use a micro red dot with that mount.
Maybe it will be a stupid question for WaltherLover :) But... can you compare Canik with Walther PDP (Pro SD)? Canik trigger vs PDT and so on... I´m deciding between Canik and PDP (not for serious competition - amateur range shooting, later maybe even some dynamic training...)
Not a stupid question at all! I like the Canik a lot, it has a great trigger for sure. The fit and finish of the Canik is not for me, as I have become a little picky. From my experiences with the PDP, and Walther in general, I know their guns hold up exceptionally well after thousands of rounds, without issues. Not sure if the Canik will hold up to the same use. Hope that helps a little!

Also, a rear witness sight is totally irrelevant with a red dot on a primary target competition shooter. As self-defense, Id prefer full iron sights anyway, so again irrelevant.
