This Is absolutely stunning. The subtle changes like the shells on the stock I adore so much and I love the clear personalities showing through the armour. I think Ada is my favourite though just because I prefer that type of character and the design fits perfectly I love it incredible video!
MOH Airbourne with ODST’s!!!! Pick your DZ and complete Objectives in your order. Upgradeable kit and weapons. Mix of covenant and Insurrectionists (via flashbacks)
These are really cool, but i feel like their color scheme of their secondary tell us their specialty. I also noticed both of you say that ODSTs aren't used as much as SIV but in all reality they probably are just as big as usual because we only see stuff on the Infinity, meaning their are more Spartans
ODST is my favorite Halo game. I so desperately want a sequel. Thanks for making not having one a little more bearable. While I love Alpha-Nine, I like the idea of getting a look at a brand new squad of ODSTs. Although I hope we get an Alpha-Nine expansion for Infinite with them as Spartan-IVs. I really like the idea of ODSTs being a relic of the past by 2560, seeing as most ODSTs end up as Spartan-IVs.
okay hear me out, what if Nolan had a captured war trophy weapons, something of covenant or banished origin? That would imply that he's been around long enough to acquire an enemy weapon showing he's had previous experience in combat
First up, I am amazed how all of these designs continue to make me think, that they are straight up 3D models. Did not expect to get that same effect when looking at full on human characters and not just pieces of their solid gear. Truly impressive. As somebody who has not much, if any understanding of character design, however, I have some bits to criticize about these designs: For Colt, the resident sniper, his prosthetic arm isn't exactly obvious in the pose you chose and I find it a bit odd how he looks better armored than the CQC guy of the team, despite being far less likely to take hits. Also, for the request being someone with a whole lot of gadgets, he looks pretty plain to me, very focussed into his gun. Having something like a modified, sneakier version of the Threat Sensor equipment in place of his right pouch, for instance, would have been nice. For Ada, I don't know why but something about her having fingerless gloves while handling highly dangerous, explosive equipment seems wrong to me, despite better gloves only making careful handling of said equipment harder. Plus, there is no way any kind of sensible glove could save her hands in the case of an accidental detonation anyways, so this is more a weird intuition thing than something grounded in actual logic. Something that is grounded in actual logic, however is me finding her to look not physically sturdy enough, considering her favorite weapon is a heavy duty rocket launcher. Last I checked, ODST armor isn't actual power armor, only bearing its own load by some sort of clever mechanical system, that functionally allows it to stand on its own, so she basically has to lift that rocket launcher on her own and her arms especially just don't look quite fit enough for that task to be the norm for her. For Nolan, his armor lacking the structural integrity to carry itself actually makes sense to me, since its comparatively minimalistic nature makes it lighter and therefore more maneuverable overall. What makes less sense to me, though, is the fact he, despite being a CQC specialist, does not have any forearm protection or visible melee weapon, when he can very easily end up in melee range on accident, where those two things become really quite important to have. Also, his desert camo, while looking really good, makes him stand out from the rest of his team too much, appearing like a wholly separate entity rather than just team leader, not to mention it also doesn't make much sense to wear on board the Infinity and the proposed swampy / jungly environment of the game. Urban camo would have been a better fit here. None of that is to mean, that these are bad designs by any stretch. I like how Colt looks like the kind of guy to let his actions and beast of a weapon speak for him. I like how Ada has her humerous side built into her design. I like how Nolan instantly looks like a threat with that visor and sharp shoulder pieces, as well as how he just overall somehow seems experienced. What I am saying, is they aren't quite perfect. That is all. Still an awesome job you've done here.
To build off your comment on them looking like separate entities and not a squad, I'd recommend the visors be the same color, or Colt's armor being a more faded green with steel details to match the others
Yeah the desert camo without the odst helmet can pass for a standard marine bdu. Each design looks too different from the standard odst bdu which is meant to be black, for stealth reasons. Get rid of the yellow trims and add full covered gloves to the explosives expert and you fix her design. Should probs maker a little bit more muscular but female halo marines never seemed to have a difficult time weilding a spanker despite how large the weapon looks compared to them.
That first one looks almost exactly like my Mark 5(b) Spartan armor core in Infinite. Obviously the ghillie suit shroud is a little larger than what's available in Infinite, so that's not quite the same. And also I don't do the robot limbs on mine. Oh, my visor is also gold, not green. But yeah, I was surprised to see such a close resemblance pop up on my screen. lol
My ideal odst game would likely play like a combination of call of duty and Ready or not. Slow and tactical while retaining some arcadey aspects. Each odst would get 4 equipment slots Primary Secondary Long tactical device Gadget
I would love to play another ODST type game, there is something so special about halo 3 ODST and it's characters, how you start alone, crash landed in new Mombasa and how you slowly piece together the events of what happened prior to you regaining consciousness. I love how you eventually got back together with your squad and you escort virgil to the dropship. Game was truly a masterpiece even if it was so short.
Something about the ODST design just really speaks to me, there's so much to the design that just yells "we are the backup!" The puldrons are so angular, they feel like the strength and reliability of an ODST The chest piece is more round and wide, a bosom of health and vitality The helmet is even more rounded and one of the tallest, widest visors, it gives off the sence of wide eyed inspiring hope. Seeing an ODST whether it's falling from the sky, rushing into battle, or the personality in each and every ODSTs voice, it's such a perfect inspirational aura that I've never seen before
For a game about ODSTs I think it'd be good to go back to the human covenant war or to go to the Spirit of Fire which still has ODSTs. Unless ODSTs still exist somewhere else in current halo, it seems like they're all retired or IVs
Honestly, it wouldn't surprise me if 343 and the expanded universe writers were that dumb. Humanity just barely survived a war of extermination. Humanity should be ridiculously militarised, and conscription should be widespread in whatever colonies are left standing. The ODSTs are alive and well. Spartans IVs like the other Spartans before them are basically Navy SEALs they're part of the Navy (or they were before they became their own branch despite just being a few hundred Spartans...). ODSTs are more like the Airborne Corps. They presumably have huge numbers still. What irritates me is the simplification of the UNSC military. There should be Army, Air Force, Marines, Navy, etc, all showing up. Just because you have a handful of Spartans doesn't mean you no longer need all those other troops. ODSTs are rapid response units that can go in fast and secure an objective. Marines are a fast reaction force that can be inserted from space but not as quickly or directly as ODSTs. The Army should be more of a mechanised juggernaut that primarily is used for defence (I.e against the Covenant on human colonies, which was the majority of fighting during the war). But it seems like the writers aren't interested in the military of the UNSC and just want everything to be Spartan superheroes.
@montypython5521 Bare in mind it's been less than a decade since the end of a war that was like 50-100 WW3s in terms of death and destruction. Humanity faces a huge number of threats as well, from the remnants of the Covenant, the Elites, and many other potential enemies. The US didn't just disband whole branches of its armed forces straight away after WW2. You still need a lot of military power. Maybe less than during the Covenant War. But realistically, the UNSC should have widespread conscription.
@@nutyyyy Yeah humanity should've still been on the back foot but that's not what we see, not until Cortana came back any way. And all the knew spartan IVs both vet ODSTs and new new ones make up for any retiring ODSTs, at least microsoft seems to think so.
@@user-vv1re6gu7w Where have YOU been? If there are swarms of flood out there you can forget about the minor splinter faction banished and any covie hold outs.
I very much appreciate your designs, I think it is time for people to celebrate when the ODSTs have new designs like yours that let fans know it’s ok to move on and update this incredible part of the story, I think sometimes people get wrapped up in what they’ve seen before and thinking that’s the only way it has to be done, not taking into account budget or other bts happenings to why the armor in game looks so the same, I’ve seen concept art for ODSTs in Halo5 and they were incredible, they still kept the visual touches that let you know what they were and what they were about and yet still pushed the envelope, and I wish they would’ve been kept or given a spotlight
The brief backstory of the ODSTs with Spartan IVs reminds me of how the actual USMC Recon and MARSOC are. Everyone wants to be MARSOC nowadays so Recon is just a thing of the past, and is very underutilized now.
Love Colt’s design. If I did this I would do a bit more ghillie suit visuals to his upper half while darkening his lower to sort of split your attention. I might make the visor yellow to give him a predator in the bushes look. Could add some lore about it having two different modes that change the color to help in his stealth while the other helps him see in bright settings. Would maybe give him a Mark V brim to be a stop for the ghillie section. Can also take off the greenery when outside forest settings. Idk those are just my personal ideas separate from yours that I think could be cool.
i would love a sequel to ODST, its such a great game, and the designs are amazing my favourite is definitely Nolan's because it looks the most battle worn and badass, i'm guessing he's quite sentimental about his original armour he first dropped with hence why he's probably never updated it (at least that's my take) awesome video and designs
Love Nolan’s design concept being a sort of reverse Spartan with the darker armor on top with a lighter under suit. His exposed arms are a cool connect to Marines and the ODST gloves.
I'm a huge fan of the idea of present-day ODSTs being misfits who did not go on to be Spartan IVs. That makes them so unique from the IVs! Kinda like a "Bad Batch" style squad but for Halo.
I know this might be a bit cheating, but my version of the character is a Spartan. He used to be an ODST during the Covenant war, and even served under the command of Nobel Six during the Fall of Reach (begining of mission 9 of the game). Thus he used the Mark V(B) core with the Reach style ODST Helm. Seeing Nobel Six in action inspired him to take on the Covenant with a barrage of raining bullets. His weapons reflect this, using the AR with box mags, SAWs, or the occasional turret. Since becoming a spartan, he grown used to the of the idea of being an invincible killing machine, going as far to heavily armor his left side to take the punishment as long as needed. While he'll never forget that he was once an ODST, he has lost sight of what it means to be one. This causes friction with the rest of Fireteam Scarlet, added with the already established hate between ODSTs and Spartans. During the defeat of the Infinity, he was assigned to the team to commence an operation, but it was already too late. Later, on the ring, they slowly tear down the hate between Lance and the rest of the team. Lance becomes a full fledged member of the team, becoming their heavy lifter and gunner.
Love these designs. The sniper rifle looks awesome, wish we had that variant in game. The wrap around the ODST's neck and torso akin to a poncho or something is super cool. Reminds me of Chief in the Halo 5 teaser. I would suggest that Levi's forearms look a little small for the tough guy look. I too would like to see more of ODST. It's a game that feels more against the odds. Nowhere to hide. And then when the team is back together, steamrolling.
My biggest suggestion is to include the little changes, like having all 4 co-op players in cutscenes if you're doing custom armor, and don't duplicate the hero for co-op. 'Fireteam Duster, your command structure's been gutted, so you're folding into Fireteam Scarlet and are to assist as able.' with little story changes alike playing Halo3 co-op.
I love these characters I genuinely wish that 343 would put this type of love into community projects and ideas as the community itself did. If they did that then infinite would be an amazing game that might still be at the top of the charts
I had an idea for a halo game: halo wars 2, but a first person shooter and its from the perspective of a marine. I think a game where you play as a marine instead of a spartan or odst would be pretty cool, and would show a halo story from the perspective of someone who isn't a augmented supersoldier or a special forces unit, but just a regular man.
Colt sounds like a badass introverted character, introverts are quiet and observant, and generally see things differently than other people, we have a machine like personality, we might come off as rude, and we keep to ourselves, and we also are patient, and probably stubborn. Dude, this fireteam is right up there with ODST, with there being different members with different personalities and with different roles, that part is not explored anymore by 343, Bungie laid the ground work for fans of how different members of a team work differently but still are a team.
Ada's armor is definetly my favourite. Been a sucker for yellow ODST armor since the live action trailer of the game came out. Add the fact she's the explosives expert on top of that and we got a winning combination
I'd imagine Lance would be a "The Fool" / "Jack of All Trades" type with balanced high skill in many firearms & equipment (even with Cov/Banished) and good in any situation, it'd also give the chance to have customization for the player to make *their* Lance, like if Lance was put on many different military operations prior to Zeta Halo so they'd naturally have i.e. different camos, helmets and armor to choose from
Man this is why I love halo. You make cool stuff like this compared to how things are handled nowadays. Cool stuff man. This is the very reasson I've been playing Halo DnD for years with my mates as thier own ODSTs and Marines, cool looks and stories and bad ass missions and styles. And alot of homebrewed lore to sooth the mind.
My favorite thing about the halo 3 odst weapons, is the design of the smg in that game. To me it seems like every odst is supposed to be armed with atleast the smg, almost like it's a side arm to them. Buck uses the assault rifle since it seems he spent most of his time as a standard infantry marine and is probably more used to that weapon
ODSTs are just the badass units. Knowing very well you don’t have shields. Just flesh and bone plus a hit of armor that is really just used for decoration. You’re dropping to the battle field where one shot could kill you. Heck even your very own pod could kill you. Truly hope to see ODSTs again.
This is quite an interesting video of a concept of a ODST sequel and customization idea that would be pretty cool to have, since the original ODST was limited on customization. If I may suggest some ideas of future projects, seeing that the ODST sequel is what I can assume the first of possibly few videos of customized characters, in this video's case ODSTs. How about new ranks for the Elites, new ranks for the Grunts, new ranks for the Jackals, new ranks for the Hunters, the Brutes, human Marine units, etc.
I must say, I find Nolan's color scheme rather amusing. Under all that futuristic gunmetal grey sci-fi armor and helmet with a big red visor is some classic Multicam/OCP that doesn't blend with the armor at all. Frankly, I think you probably should have leaned into the "desert" theming you had going on with him and made his armor tan/coyote brown to compliment his camouflage, maybe paired with a gray, amber or purple visor to go with his helmet in reference to how soldiers in desert environments typically have to wear polarized shades to protect their eyesight from glare.
Levi needs more armor but also if he more veteran add more damaged old armor. Also, fun gun facts. When having a gun in a resting position never have your finger on the trigger. It is a universal gun rules.
I had an idea for a redesign, like what you did with the prometheans. What if some halo 3 flood were changed back into the style of Combat Evolved? I would LOVE to see this come to light, and would really appreciate it if you did do it
NGL I love ada's character the most, both in personality and in design. I think you nailed the look. This all seems like something I'd 100% love to see, but doubt we will considering 343's disregard for the value of the non-spartans.
I would love to see other video game armor designed in the halo fashion. Like Mass Effect, Dead Space, Crysis, and Doom as spartan armors. Not those games in particular but it would be so cool to see a crossover.
Hey @Wernissage I don't know if you'll ever see this but I'd like to see your own PERSONAL pitch on a Fracture armor set or just something that's never been before. I'd like to see your imagination and skills as a creator bring life to the Halo community. Love your work
Will love to see the Black Daggers in a game and in Nightfall Armor it's about time that the ODST'S get an upgrade, also wouldn't mind if that game included Army Airborne and Rangers included. Ahh the possibilities
Making the sniper the guy who is cold and machine like is a good choice. If you've seen American Sniper, you see some of what happens with the feelings they have.
These designs are sick as hell dude! My only note is (since I want to help provide actual criticism other than just praise) I feel like Nolan's visor may be a bit big, but more so I really think his look would feel more complete if you gave him some modern looking military style tactical gloves with the reinforced knuckles (especially since he prefers cqc and would likely need a bit more protection for punching elites). All in all though, amazing designs!
I thought of buck when I heard of ODST 2. As far as I know, Buck is back in command of Alpha 9, with his old squad including mickey. Though I don't know their status during infinite.

The story being much longer but giving the feel it's intense all the way or something. Not just some stormy night for 50% of the gameplay.
This Is absolutely stunning. The subtle changes like the shells on the stock I adore so much and I love the clear personalities showing through the armour. I think Ada is my favourite though just because I prefer that type of character and the design fits perfectly I love it incredible video!
Awesome concept! as always always top notch art!
great work to you both
Thanks Danny!
Now l want a campaign of these characters as we slowly learn there back stories and experiences brutal battles with them
MOH Airbourne with ODST’s!!!!
Wernissage and Laper Larden, yeah this will be good 😎
You know it! ❤🔥
okay hear me out, what if Nolan had a captured war trophy weapons, something of covenant or banished origin? That would imply that he's been around long enough to acquire an enemy weapon showing he's had previous experience in combat
This is awesome... I love their unique armor and it gives me Xcom 2 charcter creation vibes and I love that...
100% The most underrated Halo youtuber ever! Been subscribed for a while, keep up the good work!
That means a lot, thank you!
First up, I am amazed how all of these designs continue to make me think, that they are straight up 3D models. Did not expect to get that same effect when looking at full on human characters and not just pieces of their solid gear. Truly impressive.
As somebody who has not much, if any understanding of character design, however, I have some bits to criticize about these designs:
For Colt, the resident sniper, his prosthetic arm isn't exactly obvious in the pose you chose and I find it a bit odd how he looks better armored than the CQC guy of the team, despite being far less likely to take hits.
Thank you so much for the feedback, I really appreicate that, truly! You make some great points, and I’ll keep that in mind going forward🤘
>Sleeve rolled up and no arm bracer ODST
VOMITS
Halo ODST is one of my favorite and seeing this video is nice cause it feels like a spiritual reboot
But yeah, I was surprised to see such a close resemblance pop up on my screen. lol
By the way, I love all 3. Great work!
I like how Colt is basically the solar opposite of Romeo. Both amazing snipers but very different people.
My ideal odst game would likely play like a combination of call of duty and Ready or not. Slow and tactical while retaining some arcadey aspects.
Each odst would get 4 equipment slots
Primary
Secondary
Long tactical device
Gadget
That would be awesome!
This was such a great video. Amazing work. If a new ODST game was ever even possible, i would love to have these characters in it.
Came from larp's Channel after listening to the first part of this pitch I needed more!
Something about the ODST design just really speaks to me, there's so much to the design that just yells "we are the backup!"
The puldrons are so angular, they feel like the strength and reliability of an ODST
The chest piece is more round and wide, a bosom of health and vitality
The helmet is even more rounded and one of the tallest, widest visors, it gives off the sence of wide eyed inspiring hope.
Seeing an ODST whether it's falling from the sky, rushing into battle, or the personality in each and every ODSTs voice, it's such a perfect inspirational aura that I've never seen before
In case anyone is wondering, in canon our favorite helljumpers aren't a thing or the past, there are still thousands out there
tens of thousands. while spartan IVs number at absolute most, a thousand
For a game about ODSTs I think it'd be good to go back to the human covenant war or to go to the Spirit of Fire which still has ODSTs. Unless ODSTs still exist somewhere else in current halo, it seems like they're all retired or IVs
@Knight-Sgt. Reyes That war already ended dude where have you been?
Now this is what I’ve been waiting for! :)
The brief backstory of the ODSTs with Spartan IVs reminds me of how the actual USMC Recon and MARSOC are. Everyone wants to be MARSOC nowadays so Recon is just a thing of the past, and is very underutilized now.
I like how you can tell their personality simply by looking at their gesture
I can see how Colts robotic arm would allow him to carry the big gun
Love Colt’s design. If I did this I would do a bit more ghillie suit visuals to his upper half while darkening his lower to sort of split your attention. I might make the visor yellow to give him a predator in the bushes look. Could add some lore about it having two different modes that change the color to help in his stealth while the other helps him see in bright settings. Would maybe give him a Mark V brim to be a stop for the ghillie section. Can also take off the greenery when outside forest settings.
Idk those are just my personal ideas separate from yours that I think could be cool.
I love these, I would say they're some of your best yet.
i would love a sequel to ODST, its such a great game, and the designs are amazing my favourite is definitely Nolan's because it looks the most battle worn and badass, i'm guessing he's quite sentimental about his original armour he first dropped with hence why he's probably never updated it (at least that's my take)
awesome video and designs
We’ve hit a crappy oc bingo with Colt
From Reach
Silent
Met Master Chief
ODST was my favorite Halo and still is to this day. It’s what I’ve built my entire Halo universe identity around. Your videos are always top notch 👌🏻
These are great! Awesome work man.
Thank you!
Colt is an epic character, great job with the video man!
They all look great! Ada is fav personality wise with Nolan being fav design wise.
colt is literally perfect to me ! green, shroud, and gauss rifle. love it
Nolan's design alone should be the pitch for this - he looks awesome
Respect to rookie o7
Silence makes big impact.
"Join me, as we jump feet first into hell" That game me shivers
;)
Finally wern I’ve been waiting for what seems like an eternity for this
I mean it in the most loving sense possible (because I loved those two characters to bit), but hello, there, Sev and Scorch!
I love these characters I genuinely wish that 343 would put this type of love into community projects and ideas as the community itself did. If they did that then infinite would be an amazing game that might still be at the top of the charts
I had an idea for a halo game:
halo wars 2, but a first person shooter and its from the perspective of a marine. I think a game where you play as a marine instead of a spartan or odst would be pretty cool, and would show a halo story from the perspective of someone who isn't a augmented supersoldier or a special forces unit, but just a regular man.
Loved all three. I think that Colt needs a full poncho rather than a shroud only covering half of his torso.
Fantastic designs! Love the green sniper the most.
Wernissage raises the bar with every video. This is absolutely amazing!
Thank you!!
Holy Hell....these designs are....amazing.
I absolutely love the idea that because of the cybernetics colt can wield the Stanchion. So good.
Super sick, always loved the odst aesthetic
Ada's armor is definetly my favourite. Been a sucker for yellow ODST armor since the live action trailer of the game came out. Add the fact she's the explosives expert on top of that and we got a winning combination
0:02, Oof Wern. I can see the pixels. Surely you have a vector for this!
I'd imagine Lance would be a "The Fool" / "Jack of All Trades" type with balanced high skill in many firearms & equipment (even with Cov/Banished) and good in any situation, it'd also give the chance to have customization for the player to make *their* Lance, like if Lance was put on many different military operations prior to Zeta Halo so they'd naturally have i.e. different camos, helmets and armor to choose from
No notes on Ada. Her design is awesome and the Spartan helmet blend is just icing on the cake.
The only thing I'd personally like more than another ODST spinoff would be anything diving into the various Fractures universes.
Loving the desert colouration makes me wish we had more camoflaged ODSTs
I love the art of this, really impressive.
An odst game that is similar to a tactical hero shooter would be cool
My favorite thing about the halo 3 odst weapons, is the design of the smg in that game. To me it seems like every odst is supposed to be armed with atleast the smg, almost like it's a side arm to them. Buck uses the assault rifle since it seems he spent most of his time as a standard infantry marine and is probably more used to that weapon
I luv them, great work!
I could see this also as a spiritual sequel to Fireteam Raven!
Ada sounds like the scorch of odst. And i love that.
Ada has “Did someone say BOOM?” energy 😂😂😂
If you ask me, I would've given Gerzson Colt woodland camouflage for his armor, and a black visor.
Colt is my favorite I think, always love the shroud look
Alternate nickname: *Fireteam Drip*
Making the sniper the guy who is cold and machine like is a good choice. If you've seen American Sniper, you see some of what happens with the feelings they have.
I love the Levi Nolan look
fireteam raven as an fps instead of a arcade game would actually be fun to play
These designs are sick as hell dude! My only note is (since I want to help provide actual criticism other than just praise) I feel like Nolan's visor may be a bit big, but more so I really think his look would feel more complete if you gave him some modern looking military style tactical gloves with the reinforced knuckles (especially since he prefers cqc and would likely need a bit more protection for punching elites). All in all though, amazing designs!
This will be a dream come true if they make another ODST game
Ada's color palette reminds me of the Recruit spartan IV's
I thought of buck when I heard of ODST 2. As far as I know, Buck is back in command of Alpha 9, with his old squad including mickey. Though I don't know their status during infinite.
