F- for me. 3rd overall for a RB is super high! He never sniffed 4 yards per carry for a season and flamed out after 3 years. You can find a decent RB in any round of the draft and some undrafted. This guy was a disaster when you factor the fumbling too. He had 2 first round pics wasted on him when you factor in the Colts trade ...yikes!
Trent Richardson was Alabama’s OL and nothing else. Once he actually had to do something besides “run into the lane the play calls for and the OL has likely plowed it wide open”, he was exposed. Also, #3 on an RB is comical. At least an RB that isn’t Christian McCaffrey.
So is number 1 overall pick Ki-Jana Carter an F? Carter lasted longer in the NFL, yet still had less production than Richardson. Or does Carter get a pass because he was injured in his rookie year?
@@allanheetypically if they are 1st overall I would critique more harshly than even someone like Richardson who was drafted #3. Common issue I see with Bama backs is they had too much O line comfort in college. Sometimes leads to two things. One is struggling to find lanes, since the spaces are tighter. Two is physicality, as they were often used to having the way paved until they just have to outmuscle DBs. Derrick Henry completely overcame this. Najee Harris has for the most part so far. In time Mark Ingram carved out a nice career for himself. Richardson just couldn't.
