Hi Neuton. Thank you very much for the birthday wishes. Another year older haha. We are both much better now, still a bit of a cough but feel much brighter in ourselves. Hope everything is good with you and as always, thank you ❤️
Here's hoping the pipe heaters work well for you and you can have a less stressful winter this year. Lovely that you feed the birds too. Stay warm folks
Lol, it looks like the gravel has the same effect on Steve as running water on some people. Very entertaining having cats, they are so funny with the antics. 😂
Thank you! Aww yes we’re all feeling much better I think in the next couple of days we could be back to normal finally! The pipes so far have been great….need some freezing temps to put it to the test properly! 🥶
Lots of jobs got done. Too cute watching the "little furry crazies" rolling and urinating in the freshly dropped stone - so nice of you to accommodate them. Happy Birthday Dawn, don't feel too badly, you're younger than I am, ugh! Haha.
doing great guy's, Ben make sure there are no tight bends on the Trace heating wire and as for Rat's you live on farmland there will be Rats about whether you feed the birds or not, Happy Birthday Dawn
Thanks Tom and yep you’re right…the rats are there no matter what you do or don’t do. It’s sooo good to see all the birds again as well. They had disappeared a bit apart from the Robin 😂 he’s here for the long term. Hope you’re doing well and the weather isn’t too cold up there? Quite mild today in comparison to what it had been here lately.
Hahahaha Alan really did! Such little opportunists aren’t they? We have to keep the sand for the mortar covered over otherwise Steve thinks that’s his personal toilet! 🫣🤣
Happy Birthday Dawn🎉 Hope you had a lovely day, cake looked lovely, well done to Lukas. Steve thought the gravel was cat litter😂 Hope you both get well soon 😊
Thank you, yes lovely day 🥳 and the cake was very nice too! Hahaha yes he did, this is why we have to keep the plastering sand covered with tarps! 😉🫣🤣 We’re all feeling much better now…still lingering a bit but definitely on the mend! ♥️
Hahaha he is a funny little man for sure! So full of fun and mischief! 😈 now that’s an idea isn’t it? 🤔 Oh yes the cake was very yummy 😋 went very very well with a nice cuppa too! thank you for the birthday wishes 🥳
Happy birthday Dawn. The cats are the best for keeping uninvited guests out. Your work ethic is as strong as ever. Well done both of you. Many thanks .
Hi Jan. As I was up there looking down the entire length of the gutter I wondered the same thing. I would have to run it by farmer neighbour but I am sure he will be OK with it (fingers crossed). I have one more thing to try first which involved very sticky duct tape and will go on the outside. Hopefully it will work. Thanks for watching and commenting with a great suggestion :-)
Well, almost another year of hard work done and another one coming. I hope you guys take a rest, because you deserve to put your feet up for a bit. Happy Christmas to you!
Aww thank you Michelle. Yeah we have made the decision that other than Christmas present shopping, TH-cam and food shopping we’re going to have a “break” and just get on with the normal life type of things! Happy Christmas to you too 🎄 🎅
Happy Birthday Dawn!! 🥳🎂🎈 Your house looks so pretty with all the lights. Hope you are all feeling better soon, these colds are so hard to get rid of, I've had a cough for almost two weeks now, very annoying!! Your cats are so funny and playful, love watching them. Hope you've had a better week!! Can't believe I'm all caught up!! 😍
Hi Ruth, thank you very much. Yes, much better now thank you, nearly feel normal again. Thank you so much for becoming a channel member, this means the world to us. Yes, we can't believe how quickly you binged watched the good, the bad and the ugly videos from the last 18 months. Really well done to you :-) Thank you so much again :-)
Thanks very much Joe. When I was up there the other day I wondered about a simple pvc gutter lay inside the metal one. Only massive downpours would then over flow, but that happens anyway. I am going to go up today or tomorrow with some duct tape and try that on the outside of the gutter. If that fails, pvc all the way down the length is on the cards I think. Dawn said thanks for the birthday wishes ❤️ Thanks for always joining us :-)
Silly cats! I love when I’m working in my garden and my two cats, Bo and Scout are with me , running everywhere. 😊Happy Birthday Dawn. That cake looks yummy.
Having cats and all their silliness really soothes the soul doesn’t it? They never fail to make me smile even on not so good days! Love them ♥️ Thank you, yes the cake was blooming lovely 🥰
Belated happy birthday wishes to Dawn - December birthdays are so magical🎉. Our son’s birthday is on Christmas Day 🎄Finished nights in ITU on Christmas Eve morning and then straight home to bake a birthday cake and wrap presents - bonkers but so much fun. Love to see the birds coming back ❤ Speedy get well wishes to you both 😊
Belated birthday wishes Dawn I hope you were feeling better for your special day. Many years ago I learnt that feeding birds when you have cats is better for the birds because being fed makes them healthier, after learning that I never worried that my cats would catch the birds. I have a female cat who finds where the birds are roosting and will catch them during the night, which I hate but she has never caught a bird during the day while they a feeding. Being an animal lover has so many pro's and con's but I am sure the birds around you are very grateful for bountiful supply of different things. The other week I felt so blessed as there was a lesser spotted woodpecker on my fence, it is only the second woodpecker I have ever seen. I hope you both have a wonderful week and finally get over the cold, I must just add that I loved watching Steve and Alan playing in the background, I have a neighbours 8 month old kitten come in virtually daily and he and Tiff my boy cat are best buddies (most of the time) but the kitten is nearly twice the size of my Tiff so watching them play is really funny. Take care and love to you both and the kitty cats 🐱🐱🐱xxxxx
Hi Kim, thank you very much for my birthday wishes, I had a nice day. The birds don't seem bothered at all really, they are a little bit more speedy on and off the feeders but the cats don't seem to deter them. It is nice to be feeding them again, especially the Robin that always around with us. Awww we do love a woodpecker. My mum always had two of them at her old house on the feeders. We had a woodpecker a couple of times at our old house but none here so far. That are such a lovely looking bird and so big compared to the tits and sparrows. Hopefully you will see much more of him. Our week so far has been trying again to sort the gutter, some Christmas shopping and a trip to the parcel collection place. Time goes by so so quickly, we blink and another week has gone by. Isn't it lovely when cats are friends. Out of our three, Peaches isn't impressed that her kids are still here with her. When she has had enough of her Tom foolery, she wanders off with her nose in the air hahaha. Have a lovely week and take care. Thank you so much Kim for being one of our channel members ❤️❤️
Hope you had a lovely birthday despite your cold Dawn. Onwards and upwards you can feel very proud of what you have accomplished in the time you have been there. ❤
Hi Caroline, we hope you and everyone else is well. Feeling much better today, probably the first day we have felt much better, so yes, onwards and upwards. Have a lovely Christmas Caroline ❤️ xxx
Hello, Dawn and Ben!! Ben, when you walked into the outbuilding I saw my very face when I walk into my garage: confusion! Where is it? Where did I put it? lol But I’m glad you were able to take care of all that you wanted. I’m sorry Dawn’s under the weather still, but glad you were able to get those pipes taken care of. Happy Birthday, Dawn. How sweet to have your lovely cake! Hope you feel better soon! See you next time!!
Oh Josefina you have no idea, and I have caused most of it. It was only fair I sorted it. It is always so nice afterwards to be able to go in and find what you need. I never remember that feeling though and always junk it up again. We are much brighter today, hopefully each day now we will be better. It has been a long time getting there with the pipes but hopefully they won't freeze anymore. We will see. Dawn said thank you very much for the birthday wishes, she had a nice day. Have a nice week Josefina and thank you for being one of our channel members ❤️
So far so good Astrid and the birds don't seem that bothered by the cats. The birds certainly appreciate all the food. Thanks for watching and commenting :-)
Happy Birthday Dawn. A quick note about the foam around the pipe, don't tape those as it compresses it and will create cold spots. We put a length of tape across the seal, not round the pipe (if that makes sense). Love watching your journey.
Ah ok. I never though of that with it compressing. I will sort that out. I love the idea of running it across the joint. my joint is actually a gap at the bottom as I can't find insulation for this size pipe. Dawn said thank you very much for her birthday wishes :) Thank you so much for watching and commenting :-)
In the refrigeration industry you can also use something very similar to that, it is used for freezer room drain pipes and might be available on the internet. It might be cheaper than that one so worth looking into. 👍
As always Neuton your help is worth it's weight in gold. I will see what I can find. Hopefully though it won't be needed now, but we will see how the winter goes. Thank you :-)
I’ve got the same conundrum with cats and bird feeders but the birds are happy. Twice when the sunflower seeds ran out unexpectedly a blue tit came to the kitchen window to inform me! It’s quite magical. Thank you for a lovely video.
Like your birds Madeleine, our are really happy again too. They don't worry about the cats, or certainly don't seem to, they just carry on eating. When we first got here, the Robin used to fly into the kitchen, and got so confident it used to visit each room of the house. Since we have the cats he keeps his distance and doesn't come in anymore. Maybe for the best haha. You are most welcome. That you so much for watching and commenting :-)
Dawn, you gave me quite a startle when your accent came across to this American - "excuse the coffin " ... I actually thought for a moment you guys have a COFFIN in your yard !
Oooooh yes. No, no Coffin in our yard....... not that we have found anyway haha. Yes, coughing lol. Thank you for watching and commenting Pan and also for being a long term subscriber to our channel :-)
Love these beautiful souls. Happy birthday dawn🎉. Would it be easier to put the sealant on the underside of the gutter? Dawns boots are to die for, where'd you get them, I need them in my life😂. Straight up decent hardworking salt of the earth people ❤
Awwww Maureen, thank you so much. Dawn said thank you for her birthday wishes and that she had a nice day. Duct tape is next Maureen for the gutter and that will be on the underside. A couple of days later, no rain and an empty gutter, the sealing stuff still didn't work. It has set, but not filled the holes. Dawn boots are Joe Brown boots. She bought them from Next, about three years ago.... so I am being told hahaha. Thank you so much again. Have a nice week :-)
@thecornerhouseproject hardworking resourceful people like yourselves will soon sort the gutter. Yes, I often find things in the wardrobe 🤣. Get well soon, have a break over Christmas and have a happy blessed Christmas , new year and future ❤️
Happy Birthday Dawn. We have our bird feeders in my big willows. We but a rope around the branch and a s hook in the loop on the end to hang the bird feeders. I have 5 cats and although the climb the trees they cannot get to the feeders, unlike my squirrels lol.
That sounds like a good idea. Maybe we can steal it if we put some feeders further down the land in the bigger trees. Although the cats are interested, they don't seem that bothered about catching the birds at the moment. I think it is more the speed of the birds which keeps them interested. Thank you for your birthday wishes and thank you for watching and commenting :-)
Happy Birthday Dawn! Hope you get better soon. Your cats are hilarious! Loved seeing how happily one of them decided that the gravel was put out for a quick dig and scatter! All thebest for Christmas and the New Year.
Thank you Anjana for the birthday wishes. Feeling much better today. The cats got their Christmas present early in the form of a huge litter tray haha. Steve is nuts, Alan just doesn't care who watches haha. Thank you, you have a nice Christmas too :-)
Hoping you are both back on form quickly, so that you can enjoy your Christmas. Lovely cake, Lucas, better than a bought cake, any day, who doesn't love a victoria sandwich cake Mmmmm loving the Christmas sign, it seems most renovators will have matching West Cork Wander baubles, like a ' 'community badge' lol
Hi Ellen :-) Feeling much better today, hopefully the end of feeling poorly now. Oh it was a lovely cake, you can't go wrong with a nice Victoria sandwich. It surprisingly, has all gone hahaha. Yes, I think a few of us have Rob & Clare's decoration, it is lovely. A lot lot cheaper too than Dan's Escape to Rural France ones he did last Christmas. Thanks so much for always watching and commenting Ellen. Have a lovely week ahead.
Great video, great to see the adorables, Steve's bonkers😅 we've also had the dreaded cold, everyone seems to have had it, it takes its time to go but hope you're back to normal soon. ❤🐈🐈🐈
Awww no, not you too Pat :-( We hope you feel better soon. We are close to back to normal, today we both feel quite well. Yes, Steve really is bonkers. Alan just has no shame hahaha. Thank you as always Pat. Stay in and stay warm :-) x
Thanks Andie. So warm. Last year was ok in kitchen, cold everywhere else. This year it is a joy for it to be winter. The house feels so different. Thanks for watching and commenting :-)
Work space looks much better, I need to crack on with cleaning and sorting mine! Glad you guys are on the mend, I still have a snotty nose after 4 plus weeks, but other than that feel 100%. Sudafed nose unblocker is fab stuff. Firing up the stove is my fav time of the day, I sit there in the stillness of early morning with a hot cup of coffee and my vape...nothing but the 6 cats and 1 dog for company....I love it. Have a lovely Christmas all.
The shed is more me dumping stuff on the top, just in case I need it again soon, instead of putting it back where it came from. Dawn has done a great job of having a space for everything, so it was only fair I put things back lol. Ah we can deal with a snotty nose for a while. We feel much much better today, coughing is rare and even the snotty noses seem to be less. You made us laugh with lighting the stoves and your vape. We try to hide our vape stuff but are serious vapours too. You sound like Dawn, just need animals, a vape and a fire and your are happy. Thanks so much for watching, commenting and putting smiles on our faces. You have a lovely Christmas too :-)
Awww thank you Babs. Even with feeling under the weather it was still a nice birthday. We hope you are well over there ❤️ and thank you for being one of our channel members.
I go into my cave at Christmas, Dawn. It is summer here, but I always get a pile of library books, stock the cupboards, and no one sees me for a couple of weeks. I hate the hype, the traffic, the decorations, the frantic shopping, the stress. I give no presents and have asked for none.
That sounds like my perfect scenario Jean! It’s what I dream of doing 😂 I must confess though, that’s not just a dream for Christmas either 🫣 sometimes I think I would quite happily live on a very small Island! 😂
Nice video, you've done a lot despite the colds. Hope you're all feeling better soon! Lovely present Lucas, making your mothers birthdaycake! Cats are cute as always! 😻
Thank you…we’re getting there with the cold almost back to normal now finally! The cake was lovely too, can’t beat a plain old Victoria sponge cake.🍰♥️
Happy Birthday Dawn. You might think about putting another gutter drain on the other side of the damaged gutter to your IBC. Have a wonderful week. Hope you both get to feel better.
Awww thank you Jan. Yes, Ben did wonder about a pvc gutter inside of the metal one to solve the issue for now. We feel much better today so hopefully that is the end of feeling rubbish now. Thanks for watching and commenting and also for my birthday wishes.
I feel that feeding the birds is a must in the winter. Even if a couple of them end up snacks for the cats. My cat used to catch the occasional hummingbird in Colorado when I lived there. I fed hundreds of birds and only a few of them were lost. There are all kinds of predators out there that catch birds. You can’t not feed them because of predators. That’s like not feeding someone who might meet their end..
That makes perfect sense thank you because you do feel like it’s the wrong thing to do when you have cats. We can hand on heart say that since we’ve had cats they have rarely caught a bird…lots of mice..which I know is a “good” thing but I do wish they wouldn’t do that too. Poor little mice. It feels nice to be feeding the birds again and to be able to see and hear them again. It’s taken a few days but they seem to have notified all their mates because we are seeing lots and lots. ♥️
It's 10 degrees F here in central Maine. Yes, I feel the chill. Is there any way you can completely enclose your entire water system inside an insulated structure, or structures, over time? My pipes (water main and sewer line) are all below the frost line, and the boiler keeps the cellar warm enough so I don't have to worry about pipes freezing as long as we don't lose power. Best of luck staying warm and having enough hot water all winter, no cracked pipes, and a quick recovery to all the colds! Happy birthday in your new old home!
Thanks for your comments NatsAstrea :-) 10°F is so cold, that is -12°C (according to Google) We have only seen -6°C here so far, but I know it gets colder sometimes. Our long term goal is to have a well so we can do away with the tanks and all the pipework outside. Until then, the pipes will all be insulated in a box. The water heater will go once we have a solid fuel range in the kitchen heating the water and any radiators we may have. It is one of the dilemmas.... do we spend the time doing all of the temporary things when high on our list is to do away with it, or should we be realistic and know things don't happen quickly for us and do the temporary things. Because there was never any water hear, our only choice, and also thanks to the huge rock the house is built on, it to have surface pipes. Once the above things are finally achieved, we hope to have very little pipework or tanks out the back of the house. We really wish we could hide everything we have now. Thank you again NatsAstrea :-)
I hope you’re feeling a lot better and your colds have gone,😊 if the tree bent the guttering when it fell is there no way you can bend it back up again and then seal the holes you might have to put some steel pins under it to stop it sagging it would just mean you’ll get all the water then instead of it just collecting in the pool
Hi Ron. Yes thank you, really on the mend now. Should be better for Christmas thankfully. I think that is half of the problem. When the water has pooled for years and years, the rust has formed on the damaged / bent sections and just rusted through. We don't have much control over it though as it isn't ours. Duct tape is next on the list and then maybe pvc gutter lay on the inside of the galv gutter. The pooling is an issue, but not as much as the rust holes lol. Thanks for a great possible solution Ron.
Happy Birthday Dawn. So glad you are starting to feel better. Your birthday cake looked delicious. Ben, thank you for explaining what tasks, It definitely helps me understand what you're doing and why you're doing it. Please take care of yourselves. Hopefully the water won't taste bad from the sealer.
Hi Ellen, thank you for watching and commenting :-) Dawn said thank you so much for her birthday wishes. Today is the first day we are both feeling "better". Hopefully that is the end of it now. The cake was delicious and all gone hahaha. You are welcome. Sometimes I over explain and other times not enough. Please it helps :-) We only use the water for washing and cleaning, we use bottled water for drinking and cooking. The rain water goes through several filters too though to remove nasties and smells before finally going through a UV steriliser to kill any bactieria. The sealer used though was no toxic too, which is good for peace of mind. Thank you again Ellen for watching and commenting :-)
Hahaha, yes it is, much much cheaper. Not as easy to throw away though. Alan doesn't care though, he will go where he see's fit lol. Dawn said thanks for her birthday wishes and she had a nice day. Thanks Mrs Miggins for always watching and commenting :-)
Happy belated birthday, Dawn!! Hope that you will be feeling much better as the week goes on so the holiday will be a good one for all of you! Ben, you did a masterful job organizing and getting all of the jobs done this week! Glad you found the heat tape and got it sorted and when the insulation gets on it will make all the difference to keeping the water running all winter long. The birds will thank you for putting up all the feeders in the tree this winter and the mice and rats won't dare to come back with all of the kitties there to patrol and keep your "plantation" a "vermin" free zone!! As you were on the ladder working on the gutter for the rainwater I thought that you might want to try sealing the leakes from the outside of the gutter rather than the inside. Then, I thought you probably had already tried it and found that it didn't work either but if not might be worth a try??! Glad Bruce is back in fine fettle and you can drive anywhere without feeling like its drawing too much attention! Look forward to seeing you next Sunday the 22nd and hope that you have a really good and healthy week. Take care.
Dawn said thank you very much for the birthday wishes. Said she had a nice day. We are feeling much brighter today, probably the first day we have both felt ok. Fingers crossed we will feel better each day now. Yes, the heating wire "should" do the trick, it certainly felt warm enough to be able to stop at least some of the pipe from freezing. We will see. We have some proper sealing tape which we used on some of the underside of the gutter earlier in the year and worked well. Now we can't find it for looking. No doubt it will turn up somewhere. After a couple of attempts it is still leaking so black duckt tape is my next try on the outside, like you say. The weather just isn't warm enough or dry enough in the air for the gutter to dry out on the inside. Bruce is a new car bless him. The brakes were griding, the aircon pump was making a horrible noise and the engine cover had dropped, it didn't sound good as we drove down the road haha. It seems he wasn't really looked after by the previous owners. Hopefully we can get him sorted bit by bit. The main issues are sorted for now. Yes, the 22nd, we will be here and hope to see you here too :-) Have a lovely week and thank you for being one of our channel members ❤️
Happy Birthday Dawn! That was a lovely cake that Lucas made for you! So nice that you have the bird feeders up again, being able to watch the birds in the winter is very relaxing. I hope you are all over that cold soon, I hate it when they drag on. I like Christmas, I just don't like all the fuss, decorating and then undecorating lol. I'm going to cheat this year as I don't have the energy to do "all the stuff" and for the most part it will be just me and Mum on Christmas Day with a few people popping in, besides, we are fat enough and don't need all the calories that come with all the treats. I will get some mince tarts and such but I'm thinking more for New Years Eve. I did a temporary fix on a gutter once using mactac (stick on vinyl that comes in rolls). There is Tape now that is sold for fixing holes in gutters etc. (Gorilla Waterproof Patch & Seal Tape instantly seals out water, air and moisture. With an extra thick adhesive layer and UV resistant backing this tape conforms to form a permanent bond indoors and out. At 4" wide use it to patch holes, cracks, gaps and tears, even underwater.) Have a great week! See you next Sunday!
Hi Janie, how are you both doing? Dawn said thanks so much for the birthday wishes. The cake really was lovely and now all gone.... fancy that hahaha. It is lovely with the feeders back up. We can watch the birds again and when we open the back door they all scatter before realising it is just us and they fly back into the tree. The colds are much much better, we both feel really well today thank you. You are allowed extra calories at Christmas, it is what keeps you going throughout winter hahaha. Our Christmas chocolates are open already, so they will need restocking very soon and the mine pies are already a couple of packets less in the cupboard haha. Dawn has done the shopping list and we will be collecting it Sunday instead of our normal Friday. The picking people aren't always the best at getting long dates on food. Today or tomorrow I will be using some really sticky duct tape on the outside of the gutter as a second attempt on a dry day has made not different. Failing this, we think it will be some pvc gutter in the metal one. It rained a bit last night and we got zero drops in the tank again. It bothers my brain when we don't get any water, one of the things I feel I have to sort for the family. That and heat were my concerns and water is still a big concern. We will get there. Thank you as always Janie for joining us and always coming up with good ideas and things you have done in the past :-) Love to you both xx
I’ve been sick and also trying to get Christmas ready for my daughter, she’s 10, and Christmas is still magical for her. Today is Christmas Eve, I have one more video of yours to watch after this one, and I hope you have a very Merry Christmas tomorrow! 😊❤️🎄✨ 27:30 Also, my cats do this to my laundry piles! 😂❤
Yes, it will do Carol. I still need to buy some more to get it finished properly. We are much better today. Hopefully it is the end of this bloody cold now and we can enjoy Christmas. Thank you for always watching and commenting Carol :)
Happy Birthday Dawn, and oh my I love the boots! The cold lingers here too (I hate the cough), but at least we are getting some things done. And yes, I too get that feeling as Christmas approaches. Sorry the fix for the gutter didn’t pan out Ben, and golly it was cool hearing ya say my name. I’m glad the pipe heating is working, what’s funny, is because we don’t have a crawl space now, I didn’t think about the outdoor Spouts. Yep they froze and we didn’t know till summer when we went to turn them on. Suffice it to say this year they have cute little coats on to prevent it from happening this winter. Lol hope y’all feel better this week!
Dawn said thank you very much indeed for her birthday wishes. Her boots are Joe Brown, so she tells me 🤯 Your name is very often mentioned in our house and we normally say it in full too hahaha. That is a crap with not knowing your spouts froze until you needed them. Hopefully they are all cosy with their coats on this winter and you won't have the same problem. We are feeling much better now, I think the end is in sight. Hopefully. Have a lovely week Dory Gean Cunningham and the Christmas dread feeling will be soon gone :-) 💗💗
Hi Ben just watched you struggle with the gutter and wondered if you can just lay some plastic gutter or pipe inside the metal guttering? It wouldn't be too heavy and would be clean to help collect your water. It would probably work out cheaper in the long run versus the sealant! Happy Birthday Dawn - sorry you are both not too well - hope it goes for Christmas. Best wishes from Hampshire 😊
We love this idea sooo much thank you for suggesting it! This is why we love you lot because you come up with suggestions that we would never have considered! We’re all on the road to recovery now so fingers crossed it’ll be completely gone for Christmas 🎅
Thank you so much Vickie. Yes, that is what would have been needed should it have worked. Maybe if we had gone higher on the wall it would have been more successful, but after a few days, the traditional tree was the best way to go. The birds are happy, even with the cats watching them lol. Thanks for always watching and commenting :-)
Hello that's a class product 👌 pipe warmer I noticed the batteries sitting on the ground if possible insulation foil sided board just enough to stop the cold getting to the batteries and killing them have you got any Acorns roll them in lard and top with bird seed and hang of tree for the birds 🐦 Love the video Class projects Hope you feel better soon Could you swap a section of guttering cut out bad section and replace plastic enjoy Merry Christmas from county tyrone
Hi :-) Yes, I have high hopes for the pipe warmer wire. I will let you know how it goes. The batteries are only like that from where we used them when the power was out. I will get them fully charged and stored off the concrete for winter. They were fully charged at the start of summer and were still full when we used them, so they are good batteries. Hopefully they can be used to power the outbuildings once done and charged from the solar panels. Thanks for the info on getting them off the floor though. Acorns is something we don't seem to have around here. Plenty of dead Ash trees but no acorns. Something we would have liked to have found, but sadly none. We may end up putting pvc gutter in the gal gutter for ease. As it isn't ours to mess to much with, we don't want to do too much, just keep it simple to start with. It is only an issue for us really, as the water just used to go to the ditch anyway. Merry Christmas to you too and your family. Thank you as always :-)
This is the one I bought. As mentioned it had a 2 pin EU plug. It seems you can just buy the wire on it's own for less, but not having used it before I wasn't sure what else would be needed so when with a ready made length with a plug. www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B0D9GJS377/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&th=1
Happy Birthday, Dawn! I feel so bad for you all being poorly, but Lukas's cake had to make you all feel a lot better. It looked a-ma-zing! Maybe he can progress to one a week for a while.😘 I gave up years ago with the cat/dog/bird sees situation. I put the seed up high and, while my cats never leave the house, there are plenty in the neighborhood out and about. Birds are smart, they'll just wait until the kitties aren't in sight. My dogs, however, have been the culprits as anything with nuts, corn, suet, etc. and they learn to climb trees. 🙄 It was a joy to see the kitties in their new gravel sand box. Their big Christmas gift, I'm guessing. Ben, the entire time you were cleaning the workshop I was remembering when it was just a heap of ivy-covered stones. I do envy you the Dutch Barn door you built as it looks *chef's kiss." You can come clean y workshop any day! I think you will find the pipe tape a good investment. That, and a heated hot water tank blanket on the LP should keep you going! That gutter probably needs a hammer and a block of wood to re-shape it, and then caulking. Not a job for a damp, cold day. Dawn, your decor is beautiful. It's a lot to do in a few weeks only to have to remove it again, but the beauty is worth it. As are the cans of Quality Street I noticed. 😂 I decided years ago that the unexpected gifts that arrive after Christmas are just as, if not more, exciting, especially if they arrive in the depths of a bleak January. Take your time. I'd leave your exterior lights up all year as they are brilliant in the dark and your neighbors will be cheered whenever they go by. Have a great week. Park yourselves in front of the wood stoves with some books and cuddle up. Enjoy the heat and hot water. Talk to you soon!
Good morning to you. How are you? You are right with the birds, they are there all day, on and off the feeders, maybe quickly as they know the cats live here, but it hasn't deterred them. The same sort as last year before the cats, so it was well worth the risk. Steve was up the tree this morning but gave up quite quickly. To be fair, I can't take any credit for the shed. Once the ivy was removed, Dawn had pretty much made it what it is today. I just manage to make it a mess haha. Everything has a place (Which Dawn sorted) and I just need to find the place for it. It didn't take too long, about 30 minutes, so wasn't too bad. Dawn loves Quality street, one because it is chocolate, but the brand she has always had since being a kid. I only just found out we have orange flavoured match makers too, they won't last long once opened. The boxes aren't big enough. Yes, a present mid January is always nice. Hopefully we have got everything just in time though this year, although collecting post next Monday is cutting it a bit fine as it will be the 23rd December. I will all be fine I am sure. We love the decorations over Christmas and taking them down always makes a room feel cold and empty. We have some solar lights but think we will need some new ones for next year as they have seen better days. We used to have "fairy lights" up all year at our old house in the back garden, maybe we can do the same here. You too have a lovely week. Stay warm, as we will. As always, thank you so much for being one of our channels members ❤️
Because heat rises, I would suggest that the pipe heater you installed would provide greater benefit by installation along the bottom of the black pipes.
I completely agree but sadly the grey insulation doesn't quite wrap all the way around the large black pipe so would be exposed to the rain water as it runs down the sides of the insulation. Depending on the initial results though it may be something that has to be done from the bottom and maybe wrapped and then insulated. Thanks for your input, it is always welcome :-)
Very good idea! I’m not sure we have any wire hangers anymore apart from the one that Ben has in the toolbox that he always uses for poking wires through walls! It’s probably going on 15 years now that he has used that.
Ah Dawn - belated happy birthday wishes. Hope you’re feeling better now.. Sending you big hugs from Mayo. Oh and from the image of the finished cake in the video, I see you were TWO years old. You e grown fast eh! 😛
Thank you very much Maeve. Feeling much better today for the first time so hopefully that is the end of it now. There were seven candles to start with but then not enough cake left so ended up with just two hahaha. Thank you so much for always joining us. Have a nice week ❤️
Only yesterday did Peaches bring in a shrew and proceed to chuck it around the kitchen. So we chucked it out, she brought it back, it got thrown out, she brought it back. It was only Ben's terrible final throw out the door which had it land on the wood store roof, and there it stays lol

Yes, here in America several people are sick that I know, and I’m close to the weird drones! 😅
Happy birthday Dawn. Get well soon. 🎅🏻🎄🌟🫶🏻👏👍🍀💐
Maybe allergies or exposure effects to mold & mildew?
Happy Birthday Dawn, I'm so sorry to hear that you are still not over the flu. Hope you have a lovely birthday with Ben.❤🎉
When they are together they are like little kids. Notice that the mum didn't want any part of it though, she will have been asleep in the warm haha.
glad youre feeling a bit brighter and hope you're back to 100% before too long. Happy birthday too Dawn. May your water pipes run all winter.
Thank you! Aww yes we’re all feeling much better I think in the next couple of days we could be back to normal finally! The pipes so far have been great….need some freezing temps to put it to the test properly! 🥶
Smashing job of making your mom's birthday cake Lucas, it looked amazing.❤
He said thanks very much. It has all gone now. It was a lovely cake. ❤️
Thats why you have kitties! The scent of the cats helps repel rats, even if the cats never lift a finger!
The cats are going to think it IS proper gravel for the "job." hahaha
Hahahaha Alan really did! Such little opportunists aren’t they? We have to keep the sand for the mortar covered over otherwise Steve thinks that’s his personal toilet! 🫣🤣
Happy Birthday Dawn🎉 Hope you had a lovely day, cake looked lovely, well done to Lukas. Steve thought the gravel was cat litter😂
Hope you both get well soon 😊
Thank you, yes lovely day 🥳 and the cake was very nice too! Hahaha yes he did, this is why we have to keep the plastering sand covered with tarps! 😉🫣🤣 We’re all feeling much better now…still lingering a bit but definitely on the mend! ♥️
🙋♀️❤️. OMG! Steve sure does keep us laughing! He could have his own channel!
That cake looks Yummy! HAPPY BIRTHDAY!🎄🎈☘️🎶❤️❤️
Hahaha he is a funny little man for sure! So full of fun and mischief! 😈 now that’s an idea isn’t it? 🤔
Oh yes the cake was very yummy 😋 went very very well with a nice cuppa too! thank you for the birthday wishes 🥳
Happy birthday Dawn. The cats are the best for keeping uninvited guests out. Your work ethic is as strong as ever. Well done both of you. Many thanks .
Thank you Jean! They are good at it….if they get off the sofa for long enough! 🤣
Could you put another piece of gutter inside the fixed as a temporary fix? Happy birthday Dawn. That cake looks yummy 😋
Ahahaha Steve's a proper little character😂👍
He is a little nutter on the quiet hahaha
Happy birthday to you dawn hope you had a lovely day ❤
Thank you, yes it was a nice day with lots of lovley presents and cake…..what more could you ask for!
A belated Happy 29th Birthday Dawn. Sorry to hear that you're both feeling poorly and hoping that you both feel better soon.
Haha love it! Oh but a distant memory 29 is! We are finally on the road to recovery…few more days and I think it will be gone! 🥳
Happy Christmas to you too 🎄 🎅
Glad you got your pipes insulated for winter. 😊
It seems to be working so far. Fingers crossed 🤞 it continues to work.
Really well done to you :-)
Thank you so much again :-)
Happy birthday Dawn! Hope you feel better, maybe a pvc gutter in the metal one to direct water to the tank. Great video as always
Dawn said thanks for the birthday wishes ❤️
Thanks for always joining us :-)
Love them ♥️
Thank you, yes the cake was blooming lovely 🥰
Lmao your cat is SO funny!🤣
Aww he really is….he’s a right little menace for doing stuff he shouldn’t be doing!
Love to see the birds coming back ❤ Speedy get well wishes to you both 😊
That cake looked delicious!! Well done, Lucas. Happy belated birthday, Dawn. Good luck 👍 💓
Aww yes it really was! He does love a bit of baking! His banana and walnut bread is delicious 😋 too! Thank you for the birthday wishes too ♥️
Belated birthday wishes Dawn I hope you were feeling better for your special day.
Alan & Steve and that string. ❤😂😂😂
Hahaha they’re great aren’t they?! Love ‘em!
I'm glad you're trying to keep the birds from being fish in a barrel for the cats! 😂
Dawn said thank you very much for her birthday wishes :)
Thank you so much for watching and commenting :-)
Good job guys x have a lovely birthday Dawn xx 😘 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Thank you Jayne! Xxxx
Nice job in your barn clean up
Thank you Miriam :-)
Steve thinks it's Christmas already 😅
Not as much as Alan did with his huge outdoor litter tray haha.
I really enjoyed the music and light interlude! Feel better! The whole place is looking so nice!
Thank you so much :-)
Dawn, you gave me quite a startle when your accent came across to this American -
"excuse the coffin " ... I actually thought for a moment you guys have a COFFIN
in your yard !
@thecornerhouseproject ♥️
@thecornerhouseproject hardworking resourceful people like yourselves will soon sort the gutter. Yes, I often find things in the wardrobe 🤣. Get well soon, have a break over Christmas and have a happy blessed Christmas , new year and future ❤️
Happy Birthday!🎂
Get well soon and hope your hard work pays off with the water pipes. Cheers from Oz🎄🐾👋⭐️
Thank you so much Sally, a really nice comment to read.
Have a lovely Christmas :-)
Thank you, you have a nice Christmas too :-)
The lights on the house look amazing! They are really welcoming and warm 😊
Aww thank you, yeah we think so too. When night falls it really looks quite magical. ♥️
Happy Birthday Dawn ❤
Thank you very much 🥳
Happy birthday Dawn. 🎉 the cake looks delicious.
Thank you ML I had a nice day and the cake has sadly all gone. It was lovely ❤️
Thanks for always joining us and being a channel member ❤️
Happy Birthday! Enjoy!
Thank you Annette! ♥️
Lights! Lovely! Glad to see you all so warm for Christmas 🎄! 😊
You have a lovely Christmas too :-)
Happy birthday Dawn. I hope you both feel better soon, much love from Scotland xx
Awww thank you Babs. Even with feeling under the weather it was still a nice birthday.
We hope you are well over there ❤️ and thank you for being one of our channel members.
Very Happy Birthday Dawn!
Thank you ♥️
Happy belated Birthday Dawn . I hope you had a wonderful day and wonderful homemade Birthday cake
Thank you Wendy, yes thank you it was a good day and a very lovely cake too! ♥️
Happy birthday Dawn!!🎉
Thank you very much! 🥳♥️ I love your profile pic by the way…beautiful ♥️
Happy birthday 🎉🎉🎉 Stay dry and cozy❤❤
Thank you 🎉 lovely and cozy here 🔥
Nice video, you've done a lot despite the colds. Hope you're all feeling better soon! Lovely present Lucas, making your mothers birthdaycake! Cats are cute as always! 😻
Thank you…we’re getting there with the cold almost back to normal now finally! The cake was lovely too, can’t beat a plain old Victoria sponge cake.🍰♥️
lovely to join you and the big fat happy cattens bless you and your family
Awww big fat cattens! Love it. Chubby little fluffs aren’t they! ♥️
Good people🙂 Happy belated Birthday Miss Dawn!!
Aww thank you Miss Sandy 🥰🎉
Happy Birthday Dawn 🥳🍾🥳✨️🥂✨️🥳🍾🥳
Aww lovely thank you Bridget! 🥳♥️
Happy bIrthday Dawn,so happy I have found your channel, hope your both well very soon.
Thank you! 🤩 We are so happy you found our channel too ♥️ we’re both feeling much better now thank you 🤩
Good on ya guys. Keep warm. Keep Dry. All the very best.
Thank you, we are trying our best! Stoves making that quite easy! Lol
Love the Christmas lights😊
Thank you ♥️
I like your boots. Where did you get them.
I bought them from Next, a UK store, but they are Joe Brown. I got them about 3 years ago. ❤️
Hope you feel well soon Dawn. Happy Birthday enjoy your special day ❤
Thank you, feeling a lot better now and I had a nice birthday too ♥️
It's 10 degrees F here in central Maine.
Thanks for your comments NatsAstrea :-)
10°F is so cold, that is -12°C (according to Google) We have only seen -6°C here so far, but I know it gets colder sometimes.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY DAWN!!! :)
Thank you very much! 🥳♥️
Happy birthday I hope you had a lovely day
Thank you, yeah lovely day thank you ♥️
I hope you’re feeling a lot better and your colds have gone,😊 if the tree bent the guttering when it fell is there no way you can bend it back up again and then seal the holes you might have to put some steel pins under it to stop it sagging it would just mean you’ll get all the water then instead of it just collecting in the pool
Happy Birthday, make it great.
Thanks Cindy! Quiet but nice birthday 🎁
Hi Ellen, thank you for watching and commenting :-)
Dawn said thank you so much for her birthday wishes. Today is the first day we are both feeling "better". Hopefully that is the end of it now.
The cake was delicious and all gone hahaha.
You are welcome. Sometimes I over explain and other times not enough. Please it helps :-)
We only use the water for washing and cleaning, we use bottled water for drinking and cooking. The rain water goes through several filters too though to remove nasties and smells before finally going through a UV steriliser to kill any bactieria. The sealer used though was no toxic too, which is good for peace of mind.
Thank you again Ellen for watching and commenting :-)
Happy birthday 🥳 Dawn, and three cheers for Lucas making his mum a cake! I’m happy Bruce is back home, did he enjoy his new gravel?
Hahaha yes, he is very much enjoying have less muddy tyres! 🛞 The cake was very nice! Pretty much gone now but for on very small slice left! 😂
Is grit cheaper than cat litter lol? Have a good birthday 🎉Dawn. May your pipes spray warm.🤗 Great 🍰🎂
Hahaha, yes it is, much much cheaper. Not as easy to throw away though. Alan doesn't care though, he will go where he see's fit lol.
Dawn said thanks for her birthday wishes and she had a nice day.
Thanks Mrs Miggins for always watching and commenting :-)
Hi to you both from Virginia and 🎂 Dawn.
Thank you Carol 🥳 🎂 and Hi to you in Virginia ♥️
At 4" wide use it to patch holes, cracks, gaps and tears, even underwater.)
Have a great week!
Thank you as always Janie for joining us and always coming up with good ideas and things you have done in the past :-)
Love to you both xx
I’ve been sick and also trying to get Christmas ready for my daughter, she’s 10, and Christmas is still magical for her. Today is Christmas Eve, I have one more video of yours to watch after this one, and I hope you have a very Merry Christmas tomorrow! 😊❤️🎄✨
27:30 Also, my cats do this to my laundry piles! 😂❤
Nice cleanup
He did good eh? Thank you 🤩
That cusion would help keep the heating coil in place sometimes any way. So sorry Dawn is under the weather.
Her boots are Joe Brown, so she tells me 🤯
Your name is very often mentioned in our house and we normally say it in full too hahaha.
Happy Birthday Both. Xxx
Thank you!🤩
Happy birthday Dawn. From a December lady to another. 😊
Aww thanks! Best birthday month eh? My 28 year old daughter is a December girl too! When is yours?
@@thecornerhouseproject mine is the 10th. I share it with my twin sister 😊.
Thanks for another episode, you’re the highlight of my week…I love your adventures. And…happy birthday Dawn 🎉🎉🎉
Awww 🥹 thank you what a lovely lovely comment to read! ♥️
Another great episode, Merry Christmas to you both 🎄
Merry Christmas to you too Vickie. We hope you and the family have a lovely time. :-)
Hopefully you will feel better soon 😊. Maybe a boat fixing to wrap string on?.
Sniffling, sneezing and coughing with a cold as I watch your video. 🤧
Get well soon.
I truly understand. I am so tired of my coughing and stuffy head.
We hope you do too Sue. Thanks for sniffing, sneezing and coughing while you watch haha.
Awww not you too Carol, we will all have it at this rate. You get better soon too :-)
Happy you are doing well. I want to wish both of you a Merry Christmas. Stay warm an happy 😊😊
Thank you Julia and we wish you a very Merry Christmas too!
Happy birthday Dawnie.well done Lucus 🎉👌😋

Hello that's a class product 👌 pipe warmer I noticed the batteries sitting on the ground if possible insulation foil sided board just enough to stop the cold getting to the batteries and killing them have you got any Acorns roll them in lard and top with bird seed and hang of tree for the birds 🐦
Love the video
Class projects
Hope you feel better soon
Could you swap a section of guttering cut out bad section and replace plastic enjoy Merry Christmas from county tyrone
Please can you tell me where you got the pipe warmer
Tea is always good tidy cave 😊
Hi :-)
Yes, I have high hopes for the pipe warmer wire.

👋♥️
Get well wishes.Happiest of birthday wishes to you, Dawn.
Thank you on both accounts! We are feeling much much better now, which is a relief all round! 🥰
@@thecornerhouseproject 😘😘
Because heat rises, I would suggest that the pipe heater you installed would provide greater benefit by installation along the bottom of the black pipes.
I completely agree but sadly the grey insulation doesn't quite wrap all the way around the large black pipe so would be exposed to the rain water as it runs down the sides of the insulation. Depending on the initial results though it may be something that has to be done from the bottom and maybe wrapped and then insulated.
Thanks for your input, it is always welcome :-)
I've made many hooks from heavey wire cloths hangers... good for hanging wreaths from curtain rods too😊
Very good idea!
By the way if your cats are good mousers (ratters?), you can look forward to gifts of entrails, if they’re anything like toe ones around here!
