It was a fun video to research. And, if you like the shirt, just wait for the Christmas video, lol. It was a little different to do. This is the first video I have done based specifically on a book, and a classic work of literature no less. So, unlike my videos based on movies, that I will make references to books, there was very little imagery to go on, so I had to get a little creative. But I thought instead of doing a Friday the 13th, or Nightmare on Elm Street style video for Halloween, do something like Mary Shelley that gives some insight and hopefully a perspective on the novel that might not be well known. As always my friend, thank you for your comment. And stay tuned, there is more Sci-Fi to come. Have a great Halloween.

5:55 Even "Dr. Frankenstein" is a film modification. In the novel he was a medical student.

Welcome back to the channel my friend, always good to see your comments. I saw your comment on the Quatermass video I did a couple of days ago, I have been slowed down lately due to having to be a responsible adult, so I haven't gotten to all the comments I wanted to. However, you raise a great point for the Mary Shelley video. I read Frankenstien decades ago, and I forgot all about Victor Frankenstien being a medical student. Good catch. Once I read your comment, I remembered that aspect, then I was trying to remember what he was studying and I thought it was natural sciences. Turns out I was wrong. I did a quick reference search and it turns out he was a student of Natural Philosophy. Excellent comment, I'm glad you brought it up so I could do a little more digging on it and re-learn something I had forgotten. As always my friend, your comments and continued support of our channel is greatly appreciated. And stay tuned, there is more Sci-Fi to come. Have a great day.

I listened to the Monster Classics about a year and a half ago, Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde, Frankenstein and Dracula. The latter 2 were amazingly accessible and so well written, both were a reminder of great aspects what are forgotten in modern retellings.

Thank you for your comment, and I hope you enjoyed our Halloween video. You bring up an outstanding point. This is the first video that I have done for the channel that is soley based on a novel, and a classic novel at that. I try to reference novels in all of my videos for eith television shows, or movies I may be talking about, but this was a stand alone. And I wanted to do something different, other than a typical Halloween movie review and do something that may bring some greater awareness and appreciation to a novel like Frankenstien. And, to your point, the modern retellings don't really harness the essence of what was in the novel. Even the 1994 movie "Mary Shelley's Frankenstien, didn't do the book justice in my opinion. But some of the modern retellings are fun to watch on a rainy day. But I will take quality story telling all day over action and special effects. Excellent comment, thank you so much agin for that, it is greatly appreciated. And stay tuned, there is more Sci-Fi to come. Have a great day.

Thank you again my friend for your comment. This one was a little different because I was basing the video strictly on a book instead of a movie or TV show like I normally would. But it was just the right time of year to do a video like this one. And I thought there was a lot about Mary Shelley that was worth knowing about, especially if you are more of a reader than a movie goer. Thank you again for all the wonderful comments and your continued support of the channel. Your ongoing support is genuinely appreciated. Have a great day.

Welcome back to the channel my friend, and I hope you enjoyed the Halloween special. I saw the original Frankenstien when I was real young. It seemed to get run quite a lot on the local Detroit Chiller Theater on Saturday nights when I was growing up, and it freaked ten year old me out. Young Frankenstien on the other hand was just hilarious from the first time I saw it, until today. I think that movie aged well, but I think I may be only one of a few that thinks that way. I recently saw the 2023 Poor Things movie, which has a take on the Frankenstien lore. I'm not sure how to take that movie, The reviews for it seemed very favorable. But I just could not get into that movie. Thats just my opinion, but it was not for me. Thank you again my friend for your comment and your continued support, it is greatly appreciated. And stay tuned, there is more Sci-Fi to come. Have a great day.

Mary Shelley wrote Frankenstein in June about the second or third week in June and believe it or not that year it actually snowed in the United States because when 6she opens up with it was a dark stormy night it was snowing

Thank you for your comment, and I hope you enjoyed our video. That is a very interesting point you made. That year, 1816, was referred to as "The Year Without A Summer" due to the 1815 volcanic explosion of Mt. Tambora in the Dutch East Indies. But, I could not remember the year of that event. I actually thought the volcano erupted in the 1700s or earlier. But after I read your comment, I put the pieces together. Now that snowy stormy night in the story makes more sense. Excellent comment, and thank you again. Your comment is greatly appreciated. And stay tuned, there is more Sci-Fi to come. Have a great day.

    Mark,
    Great overview.
    Mary Shelley was brilliant!
    However,
She never saw , the iconic song and dance,
    Puttin on the Ritz:)
Would she have been horrified or amused??
    We'll never know.
    Cheers,
    Rik Spector

Rik, how are you doing my friend. I hope you enjoyed our video. I agree with you, Mary Shelley was brilliant. When I did this video, I was surprised by how much I didn't know. So I'm glad I decided to choose this as a topic for a Halloween Special. There was so much more I could have put into this video based on what I researched, but that would have made the video about three hours long. As always Sir, it is great to hear from you, and thank you for your continuous support of our channel. There are more videos coming, in fact I just uploaded one about thirty minutes ago covering the 30th Anniversary of the film Star Trek Generations, but more importantly, William Shatner returning to the role of Captain Kirk after 30 years in a new short video produced by the Roddenberry Archive, and OTOY. You may remember I did a video based on an OTOY video short that showed Mr. Spock after the events of Star Trek Generations, and after the passing of Mr. Nimoy, and the short film looked fantastic. Now there is a new one out, and I think you will enjoy it. As always Sir, it is great to hear from you. I hope all is well with you, and as always, have a great Galactic Day.
