Haha! Trusty ol' meat-in-the-pot! I actually tried to use my 828U yesterday but I couldn't get my shotkam off the 1187. 7 miles, no birds yesterday...(sad face)
I'd love to get out there sometime! My boy Jaeger still needs more birds before he would probably be a worthwhile partner for you and River, but I'd still enjoy the opportunity. He is a 7mo PP from Cabin Creek.
PP=Pudelpointer? I hear those are great dogs! There were 2 of them in River's NAVHDA NA test class. They looked completely different, I was amazed. Both scored higher than River but I think that had a lot to do with their training. We just returned home from 2 days in the field...not super productive but a lot of fun.
@@SaltWaterSalmon yep he is a pudelpointer! He is a super short coated one. His body almost looks like a GSP, except wiry and solid brown. And with a beard of course! He will be NA testing in the spring, just barely gonna slip under the age limit. If you ever are willing to drag us along, I would be love to join!
I fish out in Maupin primarily and wanting to get into Bird Hunting in OR - do you have any recommendations of outfitters to take me out on my first time? Or do you do that? Thanks!
Hi Karl! I believe you have to have a permit/license to be an outfitter/guide in most States, I am not set up for that in Oregon (or anywhere). I'm from Alaska. However, since you frequent Maupin for fishing you should checkout Sage Canyon Outfitters, they are a few miles out bake oven road (?). River and I have hunted their property before. I'm pretty sure they have their own dogs/guides to help out those who need that service. I can't really recommend them over anyone else, I just know they are one spot that does this. That being said, I will return to hunt their property.
Check out last year's hunt of this spot... th-cam.com/video/VUOomgALouw/w-d-xo.html

Thanks man!
Nice hunt! Those quails have call that sounds just like european common quail call. What species is that? Native to US or introduced?
These are California Valley Quail. Native to the area as far as I know…
@@SaltWaterSalmon Yeah, I googled it... state bird of California. Thanks!

are these wild birds
Yes, in this video they are wild. While it is a State Park, they don’t plant birds at this location.
Where is this at in particularly in Oregon?
Cottonwood Canyon State Park
Can you share the address?, thanks
