Really nice reel. Especially with your bearings.

Yep, those bearings do make the reel into a real animal (See what I did there) 😎😁😄

I hate to say this, but the Fathom Casting Special is like the Abu TSR 6500i Tournament special. Neither live up to expectations, and both were badly designed by people who did not have a clue. It's just a marketing exercise (Don't believe the HYPE). In the case of the Fathom CS; the spool is larger, has more mass, so takes longer to spin up. The spool bearings are larger than a standard Fathom, this slows down the cast. The mag is not a mono mag that you would expect on a casting reel, just a big knob attached to exactly the same magnetic braking system that's in the standard Fathom, so with a bigger spool, more line and so more mass the mag system has to deal with more inertia; therefore less efficient. A standard Fathom will outcast, a Fathom Casting Special by at least 20% distance. BUT; the Fathom Casting Special is a great fishing tool once the big nob has been replaced with a standard flush mag adjuster from a standard reel.
The only commercially made reel I know of for casting specifically are the Akios MM3 Tourno series reels. They are excellent!!
