Sir Thomas Babington Macaulay created a masterpiece, which he could not see being implemented and died in 1859. It was adopted in India in 1860 as 40th Act. In most of the countries the same penal code is followed with that country's name. No other law in the world is so comprehensive.

I am a law student and I have Family Law - I, Indian Contract Act (Sec. 1 to 75), Specific Relief Act, IPC, legal & Constitutional History, and IPR (Intellectual Property Rights) as my subjects for LLB 1st year(SEM-I). These are basic fundamentals any citizen of India should be aware of. And unfortunately, our basic curriculum doesn't cover these till you opt for specialization in this specific area (and that's perhaps too late!). Great job of explaining in simple manner! Thanks!!
