Join my Discord for dedicated channels for Italy and Malta to strategize: discord.com/invite/Rvthxry Note: you receive ONE lombard if you go for the lombard + villager age up with advanced politicians, not two.

Played it a lot those days. You're better off building the market with a villager and start with a house for the Architect. Why ? you'll get your house in time, entirely for free, and it is a lot faster to just go for a market straight away with a villager. I would also get grey coats first if I don't have any golds treasure. I don't know if Gangsaw is good or not tho, but it doesn't really change my age up time. Hope it helped someone.

The Advanced Politicians also lets you get the Da Vinci tank in Age 4 correct?

So what units are you building to push your opponent? Or are you sending cards?

I feel as though using the architect to set up and early outpost and then going for the 2 outpost age-up could get you set for an absolutely incredible forward base. Would need refinement, but I can absolutely see that being an overly oppressive strategy if polished.

I wonder how effective it would be to train another architect once you're aged. Also, can multiple architects build one unpaid foundation?

Maybe after the home city card that boosts their speed, but given their cost you're typically better off sticking with the one.

Then I'd rather pay for 1 extra architect than spending a shipment for that. Now you sometimes pay for a foundation if you're popped, maybe double build speed could fix that for only 200 coin. But 1 without upgrades seems to do the trick atm

How do you feel about the soccer card for increased villager speed? Capitalism is good too of course, I just noticed it happened to be a pretty meaty boost of 25%

Could be worth exploring, I just love the gold trickle!

What I don’t like about the build order is that you don’t utilize the strength of the Lombards early on. Personally I think, Italy might be quite strong when aiming for the 5 lombards as soon as possible. Cuz they gather a stupid amount of res. They are quite comparable to the Dutch banks.
I recently saw a game from yukietty and he aimed for the 5 Lombard right from the start and had them ready at around 5:30. He played quite a longe age 1, but was able to hit age 2 in time with the card advanced. In age 2 he shipped the unique Lombard card which stored the coin in all Lombards = profit.

That's how I originally tried playing Italy and it resulted in losing game after game. It's too slow and your investment doesn't pay off until later. This could be more viable if your enemy is sitting back or maybe even in a team game where you might have more space. Just a different way to play the civ!

Damn the map looks so small. It would be a lot more interising to play it on large size option if avaible.

Hay algunos mapas (los nuevos) que son iguales pero tienen versiones chicas y grandes. cuando juegas con 2 civilizaciones en el mapa, por default el juego carga la versión pequeña.

This italian age up politicians are ridiculous. Clearly shows how much advantages this dlc civs gets. They are directly comparable to original European civs.governer gets two outpost for italy but 1 for old civs. What pisses me off that the inventor politician ageup for Italy. That 300 xp +baloon would make it viable for Ottomans but they did not fix that, they saved that for Dlc. At this point I'm certain of the fact that Microsoft does not want us to play with vanilla civs, they want to force everybody to play Dlc civs.

It’s always been like this in the DE, they add a new civ that’s OP and becomes the meta, then they nerf it, they buff vanilla civs, and repeat

@@sebastianw9749 ok, I Will admit i was too Harsh on this italian age up. Actually in order to get extra resources Italy needs to send that fast age up card.
This is by far the best balanced dlc. Ive played Against Italy, malta and did not witness Mexico like madness.
Though I'm pretty sure in future Lombard will be needed to nerf. But I love Lombard mechanism. This is how Bank or mill should work. Noj just generating resource automatically and turtling in base.
Anyway they are not Doing anything with Ottoman, Germany for a long time.
