    ✅Behind the scenes
    The review was made in Austria just before Christmas 2018 during some wintercamping. That was the first videoshoot in the snow for me. Batteries... I have been using the Fjällräven Abisko Dome 2 since early spring 2018 so it has seen all weather conditions and ground surfaces. It's been to Sweden, Germany, The Netherlands and... Austria so this is a real long term test.

    Another excellent review- the subscribers will come, because this is an honest quality review. Having watched a few reviews I now want to watch the others. As a non native English speaker you speak so clearly and well. Very occasionally I chuckle at your choice of word - don’t take this as critical because it brings a smile to my face and also a realisation that so many people can speak a second language so well, and I cannot. I thoroughly enjoy your style. Thank you. I came across your work through researching tipis.

      I used the Fjallraven Abisko Lite 1 in summer and winter and believe me you just cannot go wrong with this tent. If you are going to be out in some extreme wind and rain, then may I suggest to double pole (you can purchase an extra pole set separately) and footprint (when attached first time like the inner you can keep it attached when packed back up). Even though some say it is good to go from the start go, I would also suggest seam sealing on a good day. Just to be extra cautious.

    In my mail I have a comment from Martin but I can't find it in the comments.... The comment or question is "how does the tent behave in summer with a mesh inner tent?". Answer... I don't know since I have not tested it. It might help to get moisture out if all vents are open and it is windy. Enjoy the Outdoors and Stay Safe! Happy 2024!! Cheers, Gijs

    Great for near the road use, not for a single person hiker over long distances, carried on ones back, especially in winter when you have to take more weight anyway. Now knowing that it clearly is a great tent and has its place. For me the Fjallraven Abisko Lite 1 doubled poled in some winter conditions, is the best option (with sacrifices in space).

    • @OutdoorguruGearReviews
      @OutdoorguruGearReviews  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hi Mr Nobodies, I hope I did not say it is a great tent for one person hiking longer distances.... It's a two person tent and yes, if you are only one you get more space but you'l need to carry the weight. I would not since I am small but a friend that is 204 cm and 110 kg and very fit and strong... he doesn't mind: he needs the space. It's sometimes also a matter perspective. And.. many thanks for sharing your thoughts 😄. Enjoy the Outdoors and Stay Safe! Cheers, Gijs

    I really enjoyed your review!! It was fantastic!! Very thorough and detailed!! I liked how you explained things, I only - if I can say the tiniest of criticism - you could have brought the camera over closer when you were talking about those vents and the pockets, to show them clearer and also pan around in the space! To give a more full view of how the space looks like on the inside.

    Hi Gijs, thanks for all your hard work. Thoughts on abisko vs Keb for Scottish winters with 60-80km winds? Trying to convince myself the Abisko would suffice as I like the weight of 3kg much more that the Keb’s 4kg.

    • @OutdoorguruGearReviews
      @OutdoorguruGearReviews  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Doc, I get this question quite a lot on the more higher end robust series of Fjallraven and Hilleberg. Although I wish I had a 100% bulletproof answer, I don't have it. Most of the time I pick the lighter weight and when circumstances get a bit tuff I take for granted that the tent might underperform a bit. Mainly because I ask myself the question: How many days of camping am I really in conditions that shitty and how treating are they? Also... can I do with a bad night? Most of the time it is pretty limited and I can do with a bad night. Maybe this helps you too. But if you go out in bad Scottish weather for a week - I have had my portion - and actually like this, then the extra weight (and higher price) will be worth it. Does this help? Otherwise, give me a call ;-). Number on the website. Enjoy the Outdoors and Stay Safe! Cheers, Gijs

I will always be able to bring the Nammatj if the weather is particularly rough but at 5kg (with footprint) it's a serious haul! • @kke
      @kke 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I don't think wetness and humidity are a problem for the floor, the groundsheet is more for protection against abrasion and punctures, which are probably not a big problem in winter time when there is snow.

    • @Sauromannen
      @Sauromannen 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      A benefit with the footprint is that it reduces the condensation inside the tent as well (on wet ground). And you also get a floor in the vestibule that keeps your stuff clean and dry. But the drawback is the extra weight of course. Anyway, I always bring my footprint with me (having an Abisko Endurance myself), it is worth it.

    Hi Gjs, love the review.. thoughts:
    Do you think the Abisko Dome 2 is big enough for two for Northern Sweden conditions? I have a Hillieberg Staika, but I want to try a few FJ tents. Have been looking at Keb Dome 2, Abisko Lite 3, and Abisko Dome 2/3.
    Do you have more thoughts on the FJ tents? I know the Keb is stronger, but heavier and it seems that the Abisko 2 would do just fine in heavy Sweden winds/rain. 😬

      Hi TTD, Thanks for the compliments! Good question. It's all depending on how big you two are and what kind of outdoor people you are. My wife and I are 170 cm and about 63 kg so we are small people and we carry not too much. I have been in Lapland with similar sized tents in wintertime with back and that was no problem spacewise. If you travel with a pulka a size up would be better. Keb versus Abisko…. Keb is stronger designed and I didn’t have any issues with the Abisko. But… I am Dutch, I am out in nature in harsh conditions not that often so the Abisko will last me a long time. If you live up North - you are, aren’t you? - and are able to carry the heavier load (3160/4250), I would go for the Keb. I am doing a long term review on the Keb Endurance 3 at the moment and the thicker fabric pays off when the wind picks up. Does this help? Call me if you need more feedback. Enjoy the Outdoors and Stay Safe! Cheers, Gijs

      @@OutdoorguruGearReviews Thanks Gijs! Ya, My Staika is BOMBPROOF; but I was thinking of getting the Abisko because of the weight savings.
      I live in Bend, OR when in the states and Annika lives in Finland. But as you know I base out of Singapore, Sweden, Finland, and a few other places per year (not during covid though).
      It's mainly for our Thru-Hike next summer in Northern Sweden. 130cm will fit two full-size sleeping pads, so that's good for us. I didn't get the Keb, bc it's similar to the Staika. The Abisko Dome 2 has considerable weight savings and still quite durable and weather tested yes?
