Great tutorial as usual, Justin! You could certainly somewhat automate making dentils in that crown molding using the extension Path Copy. Obviously the spacing on inside and outside corners would need tweaking. I've found a good technique for selecting a complex path to follow once you've placed the profile on it is to triple click the profile (an easier target than an edge!) then shift double click to deselect the profile. If I'm doing architectural interiors which have multiple runs of moulding (let's say skirting board (what we call base in the UK!), dado rail, picture rail and cornice (crown!)), I keep a copy of the edges above the room that I can use as the follow me path. I usually get a warning to the effect that the profile isn't on the edges but it seems to work anyway.
Hey Justin sir I am a big fan of you . What I have learned till date, I have learned from you sir. I want to send you my rander. My English is not good. If you have some problem understanding me, sorry sir.
Hi Justin, I'm doing a bit of catch-up on your great videos, when I ran across this one which is extremely helpful. One question however, with the dentil moulding style, say you want to have it go around the room, how can that be done using the follow me tool? Or would you have to make the dentil detail seperately and inset it into the moulding as a group? Lets say without using profile builder.
You'd have to make the dentil detail separately - there's no way to repeat an object in that way using the follow me tool. However, if you got the spacing figured out and used the move tool in copy mode, it shouldn't take all that long. Thanks Wayne!
2:00 Maybe a dumb question, but how do you get back "into" a room of a house model? SketchUp only seems to want me on the outside, and any coming yanks me to the exterior. I've tried Walk, placing the Camera, but as soon as I turn around, I'm outside again! Drawing molding would take me years at this rate!
Hey Justin, another great video. I'm making a bar and modeling it in Sketchup and have created a crown molding profile in Photoshop that I'm going to build for the bar. It will have dentil molding sort of like you make in this video. My question, which you didn't go into in this video, is once my molding is created with the dentile in place, like yours was, how do you then place it on top of the cabinet? If it was an inside corner I could get it to work but since it will be on outside corners and has to be a built object, it doesn't seem as though the follow me tool will work. Have you done a video that would go over this that I haven't found?
Sorry Rod - I've having trouble visualizing what you're asking. You should be able to extrude the profile around an exterior corner as well, and I don't think I'd really change the workflow for an outside corner...
Hello...! Justin.... Could you please make a video on molded handrail for staircase like dogleg or four flight. Hope you will not have any problem in it. & For videos, Bye for now.

Thanks for the vid Justin. Good work on the crown mouldings, I've had to work on those in the past. Flowify would have saved a ton of time!
Hi Dan - I think it's a good process - it did get a little twitchy on my when I first tested it, but overall it seemed to work pretty well. Thanks!
Can't wait to play with this!
Thanks, J!
yay now i know how to do it thanks justin
👍

TheSketchUpEssentials How do you extrude the dentil molding? Since it's a 3d object I can't seem to get it to work with the follow me tool?
Спасибо, Джастин! Очень помогает твой канал.
Is it possible to use the follow me tool on a dentil molding or on a molding with periodical elements?
hi justin plz i need hdri sundown time can u send ??🙏
You're probably going to want to look something up on Google for this...
