I’ve never seen or heard of this skill before but it’s seems similar line to a PADI dive master stress test where you swap gear and share one tank.
What dive organisation is this required for or is it just something you put together?

This is actually a lot harder than that skill, and this is the entry level class, open water. It's one reason I love Scuba Educators International, SEI, formerly YMCA SCUBA. SEI has very high standards for its students, and when they have completed all the required skills, they are equipped to handle just about anything!

Gabrielle Gabrielli - I imagine having no weights to start would be the trickier bit, but the rest looks fairly standard. A new diver on the other hand would find this very challenging. Thanks for the info 👌

I'm thinking that's a pink scubapro tri-vent mask! Love the fins too! I got the same mask but my fins are black and pink down the fin length. And yup she's a pink hotty! Good job honey!😀😘

Why should this kind of training be practiced? We never take our gear off while diving.

Thank you for asking. This is a skill we have students perform so they can practice excellent problem-solving and decision-making while staying cool and calm under pressure. If they can do this, they can handle just about anything!

That's not correct, taking off (and wearing back) the gear is part of the OWD course because you may need to do it in a emergency: your gear can get stuck (in a lane, in a net, etc.) and your buddy may not be immediately available, or you may be low on air to the point that you're forced to leave your gear there and going up with your buddy instead of trying to loose or cut a districate tabgle, or anything else you can imagine. So knowing how to do it, before a real emergency will occur has a unmatched value.
Also, in many circumstances (from a small boat, from a rock access point, etc.) it is convenient to wear your gear while already in the water, to avoid accidents or risk to damage your equipment.

There is nothing incorrect about what I said, nor is there anything incorrect about what you said.
