Koothu Kondakkari by the Irula community of Attappadi is a song about love and romance. Through the song, we capture the life and landscape of the tribal community, who engage primarily in farming and cattle herding and lead a life closely allied with nature.
For Irular, songs and dance are very much part of every major occasion of their lives -- be it birth, marriage, agriculture, or even death. Accompanied by the beats of Porai, Davil and Jalra, they dance and sing in happiness and in sorrows.
The lead singer of the song is Nanjiyamma, a national award winning artist. Rest of the artists are from Azad Kala Sangham, Agali.
The production of this music video is the result of a team effort by many talented music professionals and videographers under the Earthlore initiative of the Archival and Research Project (ARPO), a not-for-profit collective that promotes our pluralistic culture and heritage.

Dearest Charukutty I am familiar with Ireland music as I used to go to their villages for shikar in my youth in the Nilgiris.
