Hi Alan, those whipped cream drinks on the menu looked delicious 😊 HMV has good movies 🤩 Thank you for giving us prices on movies that are cheaper elsewhere. I think I might just purchase the Alien Romulus 😊 Have a nice weekend 😬
Ive seen Godzilla Minus One (which I think may be my favorite Godzilla movie of all time. It was incredible and all the interwoven themes were great. Alien Romulus I also enjoyed too... Just picked up the Godzilla 4k.... I need to see those recent War Of The Worlds myself... I do enjoy the story. I remember loving the original movie... The Spielberg one not so much (too much screaming and whining children).... Have a great week!
Hi Erik, yeah the American Godzilla films are entertaining but it was refreshing to see a different viewpoint of the monster story plus characters that you could sympathise with 🧐 I love The War Of The Worlds story and will give any of them a go, the version I showed isn’t brilliant by any means but it does take a lot of the original elements from the story which I do give them credit for, yeah Dakota Fanning was beyond annoying in the Spielberg version 😡 have a great week too mate, take care👍😃👍
Some great releases Alan, I got Alien Romulus last week, & pre ordered Speak no Evil which arrived today. Both will be watched this week, cheers mate 👍.
Hi mate, I enjoyed Alien Romulus and would put it behind Alien and Aliens but preferred it to Alien 3 and all that followed hopefully you will enjoy it too. I am tempted by Speak No Evil but have to limit my buying with Christmas approaching and family members getting me titles 😬 cheers mate, take care👍😃👍
Another busy release week Alan, and plenty from 101 Films. Looking fwd to seeing Alien - Romulous. Take care mate, countdown to Christmas well under way now!
Hi mate, yeah I had no idea that the 101 Films were putting out any titles this week, I couldn’t find them listed anywhere 😮 hope you enjoy Alien Romulus 🧐 Christmas is coming at full pace, I’ve still so much to do 😬 cheers mate, take care👍😃👍
Another great K Day Alan....huge 101 releases....there are some bargains to be ad in CEX ...but also some rip offs ....av a great week mate take care 👍
Hi Les, thank mate, much appreciated as always 🙏 yeah it’s always best to check the prices in CEX 🤑 101 Films are certainly putting the titles out 👌 cheers mate, enjoy the rest of your week too, take care👍😃👍
alan great vid bud when you were talking about the book i thought christmas carol just got out the muppets christmas carol got to be high on the list along with some very non pc sit coms from the 70s tc steve
Hi Steve, yeah as I was saying it, I thought a lot of people would think it’s A Christian Carol 🧐 I’m actually going to see the Muppets Christmas Carol in Brighton and there’s going to be a live orchestra doing the score, so can’t wait for that 😃 can’t beat the 70’s humour, enjoy… cheers mate, take care👍😃👍
I think they should make an animated version of war of the worlds following the Jeff Wayne classic album we all love. The artwork on the album is fantastic and I’m surprised no one has ever made a full length film based on it. Anyway another great insight into the latest releases and you are my go to for checking out what’s released 👍
I was thinking this myself, I for one would watch it, plus they can be faithful to the novel, the Jeff Wayne album is awesome, I still have mine 👌 cheers mate, take care👍😃👍
Good stuff, Alan. From the new releases I’d be intrigued to see The Stone Tape as it’s written by Nigel Kneale. Loved Godzilla Minus One and had a good time with Alien Romulus.
Hi Neil, I’ve been reading about The Stone Tape and it is intriguing me, I’m not over familiar with the writer Nigel Kneale so I guess that would be a good place to start. Glad you liked Godzilla Minus One and Alien Romulus 👌 cheers mate, take care👍😃👍
Also got the German release of the War of the world - slightly disappointed they couldn't Keep to the book , maybe next time. If you ever have the opportunity to go and see the War of the world experience in London it's well worth the time.
Hi Steve, yeah they keep changing little bit in the story for some reason, I would love to see a really well made true to the story movie…then I will be satisfied (I think 🤣) ooh I’d love to see the live show, I’m gonna start dropping hints as it’s my birthday soon 😂 cheers mate, take care👍😃👍
The Nick Brookfield documentary about Aileen Wuornos is very good. On a separate note, The Stone Tape is tempting me but I might pick it up on dvd first as a cheaper option
Hi Graham, I just looked it up and the Aileen Wuornos documentary sounds very interesting 🧐 yeah I didn’t know anything about The Stone Tape release but that too has me intrigued too 🤔 hope you find yourself a cheap dvd to check out first, cheers mate, take care👍😃👍
Great video Alan 😀🍿🎸🎶 ‘Godzilla Minus One’ was my second fav film of last year; absolutely superb mate; so cool you enjoyed it 😀🍿🦖 I still need to see the original ‘Godzilla’ from 1954 😀 ‘Alien: Romulus’ is suppose to be really good; I still haven’t seen ‘Aliens’ 😱😂 Keep up the awesome work Alan 🙌
Godzilla Minus One is excellent film. I bought from Anime Ltd website for £55 thanks to a discount code for being their member on website and it was a deluxe edition which is 4 discs. 1 of the film in 4K, 1 on Blu Ray, 1 Blu Ray with a film noir version of it which is black and white and will watch at some point and the fourth disc is filled with 3-4 hours worth of extras that show how they did the VFX which helped them to win an Oscar. It is a brilliant film which 8 agree and would recommend.
Hi Barry, that was a good deal mate, I’d love to see the black and white version but there’s no way I’m buying the 4K release to get it 🧐 maybe someone will sell it online down the road, cheers mate, take care 👍😃👍
Didn’t realise there was so many releases this week. And only 1 I want - That Being Transformers One. Didn’t like the look of the trailers but loved the film. There’s been so many adaptations of War of the Worlds. I’m not sure if that is the series there I recall. I think it is. But when I watched it felt very disjointed. Like a lot had hit the cutting room floor. ( i think it’s that one. It was from a few years ago ) I will say I enjoyed the 1988 series. Lasted 2 seasons. First season had the fella from Predator in it ( the guy who gets his chest crushed by one of the traps Arnie sets when the predator sets it off. - season 2. Had Adrian Paul - before he was the Highlander
Hi AJ, yeah I had no clue there were so many titles out either, the 101 films were not even listed anywhere 😮 yeah the War Of the Worlds show featured is probably the closest to the novel but there are still a fair few issues with it, one day they will get it spot on (I live in hope 🤣) ahh that version you mentioned was something to do with a plant planet rather than Martians that take over a human body and the government dumped them (as they are in a coma or something) and tried to cover things up….if I recall correctly 🧐 I wonder if that’s on Blu-ray anywhere 🤔 cheers mate, take care👍😃👍
I often wonder what the transfer is like on the new Glengarry Glen Ross Blu-Ray, Alan? I have an older Blu-Ray copy that was issued by ITV Studios and since this is now out of print, I assume they lost the UK distribution rights? When you brought up Coraline, that instantly made me think of Henry Selick who was behind it. I remember going to see James and the Giant Peach in the cinema, which was beset by a troubled production, had songs written by Randy Newman and has sadly become forgotten. By the time, Coraline and ParaNorman came round and were heavily promoted on TV, I really felt I was too old to see animated films. If I was younger, I would have.
Hi Ian, yeah I have an old copy of Glengarry Glen Ross too, I’ve not seen anyone pick the new release up, I too would be interested in the transfer 🧐 I also went to see James And The Giant Peach in the cinema, I love that film, I do enjoy Stop-motion animation (I also saw Coraline the first time around and the recent cinema release of it in 3D) your never too old to enjoy a great movie no matter what the audience target is…👌cheers Ian, take care mate👍😃👍
Hi Alan, excellent pickups, I will be getting Alien Romulus for Christmas so can't wait for that one, I also want to pickup Godzilla minus one, my film of last year. I watched that War of the worlds when it was on tv, started off good but didn't like the ending. I also enjoy your cex part of the video, shows how they can rip you off with new titles.
I called it with war of the worlds lol I personally really loved the Jeff Wayne Musical version it’s sublime - have you heard it? Great video matey love ya x
Hi Jamie, ooh yeah, I love the Jeff Wayne War Of The Worlds album, my geography teacher had it in 1979 and played it during a double period lesson 🤘 what a star he was….i think every single man in England has owned that album at one point 🧐 it’s a solid gold classic. 10 points Gryffindor for guessing correctly 🙏 take care matey….see you very soon 👍😃👍
Looking forward to picking up Alien Romulus this weekend. As a side note - i’m not keen on the white spines of those 101 films titles. Love the movie ‘Following’ though
Have you seen Alien Romulus yet or is it a blind buy, if it is, I hope you enjoy it 🧐 yeah I like a spine if it has the little picture on the top as that’s what you see on the shelf. Cheers mate, take care👍😃👍
@ yes, I saw it in the cinema and really enjoyed it! Although in all honesty I’m a sucker for the franchise, so probably would have liked it regardless 😅
Hi Alan 👋 gosh you did look like you was in the criterion closet at the start 😀 love them videos. It would be smashing to be a guest ❤ I really want to see Godzilla minus 1 now. You have really got me interested. I've seen Romulus. I thought it was a bit meh as the kids say. Take care mate 👍
Hi Roy, hopefully you will like Godzilla Minus One 🤔 yeah I think the Alien franchise is done now, it just doesn’t have the impact anymore as we are all too familiar with the monster and the thrill is long gone, I enjoyed the movie over all though. Look at you being all down with the kids 😮 🤘 stay young mate, take care👍😃👍
Looking at the back cover of that Godzilla Minus One blu ray, it doesn’t seem to say whether it has the black and white version on it. The black and white version is on Netflix though and I am interested in checking it out.
As you now know, thanks to the comments, 🙏 the black and white version is only included in the deluxe 4K release (annoyingly so) cheers Jared (and commenters) take care👍😃👍
I haven’t thought about it to be honest Jared, maybe I will revive the series now that the complete film collection has finished 🧐 cheers mate, take care👍😃👍
One day George, Costa will give me a free Latte every Monday, then I can stop saying it 🤣 until then, I have to keep trying 🧐 cheers mate, take care👍😃👍
Great pick up Alan at the end. Can I ask was when you said Porno 🤣 was that meant rather than Erotic. I can’t believe D Dixon season 2 is out next week, I just brought season 1. Merry Christmas Alan, hopefully see u after sometime.😀👍
That’s fair enough Andy, I’m assuming it’s because family and friends are planning to buy you movie for Christmas 🧐 there certainly are a fair few titles this week for them to choose from 😮 not long to wait now mate, take care👍😃👍
You were joking about your grandmother’s birth year, right? 😂 I don’t think I had anyone in my family that I grew up with born in 1897 of course my great grandparents, but I never met them Alien Romulus had a really slow beginning. I would say 35 to 40 minutes slow. And at the beginning of the movie, I was always wondering about the android was he mentally challenged until he got an upgrade? 😂 didn’t really care for that movie that much if it’s something I’ll probably not get for my alien collection.
Hi Mike, I was telling the truth mate, my Grandmother was born in 1898, she had six children, my mother was her youngest and born in 1938 and I was her youngest and born in 1968…so making my grandmother born in Victorian England (I remember my grandmother talking about when she first heard that the Titanic had sunk, she would have been 13 years old 🧐) regarding Alien Romulus, I think the slow start was to give us character development but fair enough if it didn’t overly appeal to you mate. Take care Mike 👍😃👍
@@kermitsghost great family history . My mom was born in 1939. My sister was born in 1969. My grandfather I think was 1903. Don’t know my grandmother‘s year
As the messages have mentioned, sorry I don’t buy 4K disc so can’t review them, I do film all the 4K releases as they come out in store though. Hopefully that makes up for it. Cheers mate, take care👍😃👍

It would be great if he did, but I don't think he buys 4k discs.
All he can do is show them in store.. He's not intrested in upgrading to 4k the old git haha ;)
Thanks Dennis 🤣

Fantastic video Alan mate , some interesting titles
