    When I was really trying to learn sweep picking I watched hundreds of videos. The biggest help was a metronome, it’s probably the biggest part of sweeping. I would practice sweeping 45 min a night for months and I didn’t start to get it until the metronome came into place it changes your technique. Also there is one video that the that really helped my fret hand, basically to ease off the note that is fretted and ease into the next note to be fretted so each note can be heard cleanly and you actually dead the string. Hard to explain through a text but that was the most helpful information I found. It’s almost like rolling one finger when you are sweeping 3 notes in the same fret but with all fingers I guess that’s the best I can explain. If I found that video on day one it would have greatly helped.

      peanutbutterisfu hope it helped! Try using arpeggios over backing tracks as well as metronome. This will help you incorporate them into your improvisation

    Man that muting is very difficult. Been working on the drug in me is u solo. Wasn't muting the strings and it sounded so sloppy. Thanks for the lesson. Any chance u could help out with I'm not a vampire solo? Beginning is of course no problem but when u speed it up, I can't replicate the sound of the triplets? I believe. Been working on both solos for years and seem to be stuck atm. And that ending sweep on I'm not a vampire. Sry for long comment. I just feel like I'm in a rut. Self taught is hard.

      Where about in the drug in me is you are you muting? As in the solo?

    • @JackyVincentOfficial
      @JackyVincentOfficial  6 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Aaron Allen the only answer is many hours spent running the arpeggios slowly and cleanly! Your muscle memory will eventually take over. Look for accuracy , not speed. The speed happens by itself

    Hey Jacky, great tutorial. I was just curious btw, how did you practice tapping and alternate picking to be able to do it as fast as you can now?

    • @JackyVincentOfficial
      @JackyVincentOfficial  6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      KnightSword 500 lots of time playing to backing tracks and I used to practice with a metronome a lot. Although I mostly economy pick. Check out dvd Frank Gambale- monster licks and speed picking. Have fun!

    I see he holds his pick in between his thumb and index finder in a different way than a guitarists usually would it that because his is using a round end pick?

    I wouldn't necessarily advise people to learn with a metronome at the beginning.
    Probably just roll your right-hand wrist (or if you pick with your left hand; your left-hand wrist) up and down and get that sweeping flow.
    Then learn a little on how to mute with both the hands,
    Learn one arpeggio pattern ,
    And then use the metronome to test all of these techniques out.
    Rinse and repeat
    I did this, and it works well, but not everyone is the same.
    Thanks for the awesome video (My instructions are related to the Bass guitar btw)!

    I'm gonna refer that to the band teacher at my school. It might help her advanced guitar player(s). One is really good and the others I don't know about because I am in band not music appreciation. I appreciate music and everything Jacky has played. I play fiddle/violin. I've been focusing on violin stuff lately and I absolutely hate it. It's not about music it's about the technical side of playing. I like playing fast stuff and seeing how fast I fly through fiddle songs such as Old Joe Clark, Orange Blossom Special and finally a cajun song called Jolie Blon.
