I played this with some friends. We had a good time and the game was better than I thought it would be. I will say that we especially had fun mimicking Strongbad/Trogdor voices. I am glad that I backed this one and yep... deluxe components are really good in this one. Tile pieces are nice and chunky too. Thanks for another great review.
Good review, I pretty much agree with Jamie's take. It's definitely a fun game but not one I would go out of my way to play repeatedly, it's more of something to play occasionally when you're looking for a nice, light quick game that's a little different. And if you actually are a Strong Bad/Trogdor fan then this game is fantastic on that front, down to including multiple versions of the Trogdor miniature that correspond to all the different versions of Trogdor the Homestar Runner crew drew in "art class". (My favorite being Strong Mad's version which is just a wooden box with the word "DAGRON" carved on it.) Finally the game was reasonably priced, the basic version with the wooden tokens was only $40 which is perfectly reasonable for a game I'd pull out a few times a year or so to play while quoting Strong Bad with my elderly buddies who remember it. (And let me tell you, when you fondly remember Trogdor and millennials look at you like you're crazy, it makes you feel old!)
This game is visually stunning, I love the look of the game. Its quite hard too, which I think is good for a co-op. The theme is quite goofy, which fits a light hearted game. I think its overproduced for a light game, but I want to keep playing because it looks so stunning.
Wasn't this the game that had this insane wood-version that was super deluxe with a special wood box and what have you? I have a vague memory of the Kickstarter. Finally I am happy that I passed. This looks stunning and I like the graphic design but ultimately I cannot see myself playing it more than one or two times.... Anyhow. You could probably talk about shoe shiner and I would still enjoy it. May be the Secret Cabal magic😉
Yep, the minis are preprinted. I’m seeing (what I believe to be the wooden Meeple version) on preorder for about $42 on miniature market. That seems pretty reasonable.
@@Thesecretcabal Thanks Jamie, that sounds better. I had looked on Amazon and saw it for $60+. It didn't list it as a deluxe edition, but maybe it was. The $40's definitely sound more reasonable.
Trogdor looks great but not for my students, they don't speak English. Any dragon themed games that are simple, language independent and accommodate lots of players? Thanks in advance!
The creators behind Homestar are making boardgames now? The creators of Applegeeks are creating Vinyl Figures now?(No seriously, they run QMX) The creators of Dominic Deegan are still creating the exact same unimproved art style now? Man, Keenspot comics really launched some people...
Minor correction: The meeples are part of the deluxe set. The plastic miniatures are the standard.
oh my god the sound effects during the explanation are great XD

that's a beefy arm!
This game encapsulates what it feels like to play a goofy cartoon. I love it for that. Other games try to do that, and fail more times than not.

Doug Rosengard I was about to say, “Who you calling elderly?” Lol

Would love to watch you play some games😉🙏
I completely disagree with it being mostly a solo game. The game is designed to be enjoyed by people that know Homestar Runner lore
Did the minis come pre-painted or did you do that, Jamie? I’d love to play this. The price I’ve seen online seems a little high though.

I know I am late to this but I found this gem at my local GoodWill for 3$ haha and it was new everything was sealed.
