Yes, military bands that declare the military track for the state marching band contest automatically advance to state if they earn a Division 1 rating.
@@humanperson-ef5gm Happened once UIL made a separate division for military bands. Since there are not many military marching bands in the state, they decided to do the direct-to-state format. If, in the future, more bands start to convert band to military style, maybe there will be a need for an area-level contest to whittle the numbers of bands to state.

@rocketfan86 That's interesting. I always thought there was a separate division for them, but they just went to the same contests as us.
