I purchased the Geoleap set of grips after watching this video when it originally aired and installed them on all my clubs. After 3 months of golf, (playing 4 times/week and hitting range balls) the grips are still in great condition. I would highly recommend these grips
I installed Geoleap grips on my clubs. They look and feel fine to me. I can't really tell them apart from the Golf Pride grips. Even if the manufacturing tolerances aren't as tight as the Golf Pride, the significant price savings more than makes up for it for me. At $3-$4 per grip, I can justify replacing the grips more often instead of dealing with worn out grips because I paid $10+ for them. As a super casual golfer who only plays maybe once a month, the Geoleaps are more than good enough. I wonder if the big name brand grip companies are worried that they're being undercut by these "close enough" knockoffs.
If going down the amazon grip road I came across what seems an up and comer. The WEDGE GUYS grip is sensational. Would be interested in your review at some point. Just regripped all of mine with their 4 quadrant design. 2 things stand out beyond the great feel. 1. You CANNOT install crooked. 2. You can manipulate the quadrants for more coarse or soft feel for different clubs. Look forward to it
In the recent video with Matt Fischer, did you give him Geogrip or Kingrasp grips? Lol j/k I have both you and Mr. Short Game's channels. Good stuff from both of you gents!
Just put a set on this week. Can't beat the price, and the grips feel every bit as good. I am curious how they will hold up, but for that price you can put fresh ones on for the price of 6 grips!
New to golf at 71 (my 6yo grandson is fixated on the game). I'm picking my first set of clubs piecemeal from thrift stores(!) As a result, I'm comparing all KINDS of grips. For my large and mildly arthritic hands, Tacki Mac arthritic serrated oversize are the clear winner. (Fwiw.)
Got the Karma grips from your last video. Still impressed with them. The Wynn type grips... Good for the first week. Once they wear a little, they're gone. Will never use them again.
I just installed a set of SAPLIZE grips off Amazon and couldn't be happier. The kit was 40 bucks, and came with everything you need to do 13 clubs, even a tool to cut off the old grips without damaging the shaft. The price for golfpride is insane! and for what? just the grips alone ordered for a set is over 100 bucks. I play 4-5 rounds a month and range couple times a week, and don't have anything negative to say. Don't be fooled by the golf shop pros pitching their nonsense.... Everything golf is so overpriced. If these Amazon specials wear out in 6-9 months, it's like 30 bucks for another set.
I buy and sell clubs and replace any bad grip with one of those kingrasp, I just grab them when there on sale for like $15 a 13 pack, they're not great but better than getting a used club with a slick old grip, great video just subscribed, I tinker with clubs a bit and have gotten some great info from your videos
Thanks for the review. It would've been interesting to see you weigh the MCC grips so we'd have some insight to the tolerances for the GolfPride grips. Also, you mentioned the feeling of being thinner or thicker. A micrometer from Harbor Freight is pretty inexpensive and would give actual numbers. I just picked up some grips from an alternative source and based upon your review, I'm very curious about the weight/diameter variances. Thanks again!
I run a small repair/club fitting shop out of my garage and sell Geoleaps like hotcakes. $100 full set regrip (minus putter). I wait until they're on sale (usually between $19-30 for 13 grips). They have a bunch of different styles, ive tried them all and haven't been let down yet. I have had some good luck with Champkey also.
Got the Geoleap ACE-R over winter, super grippy and holding up without and issues problems. $49 for 13 grips is a great price if you are looking for value.
I put the Champkey Traction-X on an old set of Mizuno T-Zoid Pro II's that I used in high school. Wanted to try these grips out. $40 for 13 grips and all the tools/tapes/solution. The grip tape was also pretty good, which was a concern I had. They feel pretty good and will do just fine for a rarely used set of clubs. My favorite thing is the grip cutting tool that came with the kit.
I would have liked to see a weight measurement of the real Golf Pride MCCs. Plus a comparison of the "smell" of the real ones vs the others. I would bet the rubber smell is more enhanced on the GP grips and the clay, sand or other additives are pronounced on the knock-offs.

So far zero of the sets I've been fitted for have worked as well as ones I have simply cut the butt and regripped.
I really like the look of multi compound grips, but I can't ever play them because of the cord used in the top section, but I recently discovered Geoleap makes a reduced taper multi compound grip that uses a crossline velvet type texture for the top section I just installed them and they look and feel great!

I have seen the swing weight go from a D2 to C8 by simply having a heavy grip, with 3-4 layers of tape. I do scrub all my clubs and grips after every round to keep then tacky and fresh. a 30 sec job to deep into soapy water and scrub then towel dry,
I've been using GP tour wraps forever & have yet to find any that are tackier but don't let them get wet. They turn into ice & slip a lot which is something I have yet to figure out. I also play without a glove unless it's really humid but practice with one because of the number of balls I'm hitting. Or, maybe my grips weren't clean when they got wet & could have caused slipping but it wasn't because they were worn out.
Here’s my take on kingrasp I’ve re-griped my clubs 3 times now have been very happy with them. They have great traction good feel and LAST. 13.00$ dollars per grip I carry 13 clubs that’s one hundred seventy bucks. That’s ludicrous. Whinn sucks those won’t last me half a season. And I’m sorry even a pro can’t tell the difference in grip weight. And an amateur weekend warrior NO WAY. By the way I’m 61 years old a 6 handicap who’s been playing since I was 11. I do know a little bit about golf.
No report I've been buying my grips from Amazon from Amazon the same as yours but they do say on them they're golf pride if they are or not I don't know but I suppose from Amazon they must be Authentic they feel good anyway and for the price I'm not going to spend 15 quid a grip. I fit them with the ❤titting tape and Fit them with white spirit let go on they go on well and they work well.😊 I also fitted some really nice ones which were called white spider.
It is interesting that MCC compound are popular on tour as well as tour velvet’s I just wonder why some of tour players don’t gear up with pure golf grips and so on I guess it is personal preference why a few grips are heavily popular 🤦♂️
Any suggestion about the grip for the female golfers? what to look for since their hand size is smaller. I intend to change my wife's grip but need some advice. Thanks
You can get a number of popular grips in undersize which is what comes standard on women's sets. You can also take a standard grip and stretch it down the shaft an extra 3/4 inch and that will make it a bit smaller. All that said, don't assume she would want the smaller grip size. I have fit numerous women who prefer the slightly larger feel of standard "men's" grips. All comes down to what the players is comfortable with.
My experience with Geoleap is be very careful not to accidentally get any solvent on the outside of the grip while putting it on the club. The black comes to the surface and totally messes up your color and lettering. It won’t come off. I’ve had the same thing happen with Golfprides and the solvent wiped right off with no discoloration issues.
Have you tried installing with compressed air? Works great to install and remove. Once you've cleaned the old glue off, you'll never have to do that painful project again.
When putting on new grip tape, any tips for getting the non-sticky tape cover off? Been using a straight edge razor to create a little space for me to peel back, but is quite tedious.
Buy a double sided tape dispenser. If you do more than a few clubs, the money is well worth it in comparison to the frustration of manually removing the backing tape.
AJ, when you measure someone up for a set of irons, and they measure up to be a half inch long with graphite shafts do you cut a additional half inch off the tip and then cut to length off the butt? I’m just wondering how that would affect the stiffness, knowing tip trimming changes that flex but longer affects it too. Your thoughts thank you
Unrelated, but is there a way to test if too much heat was applied after pulling a shaft? I just pulled one out of a Titleist 909 fairway wood and it took almost 4 minutes of heat from the heat gun. Tip looks ok, but not sure if there is a way to actually tell. Thanks!
Hard to tell. Close inspection of the tip to make sure the fibers aren't fraying, twisted, or bent, would be where to start. Could always cut off 1/2 to 1 inch from the tip and use it for a shorter wood or put in an extension.
Why does grip weight matter? I just buy grips and put them on. BTW.. would the distance change with a 3 degree upright club vs standard. Would the shot come up short? Thanks
Is there a way to make the Geoleap sprt of weight distribution to have lesser impact? Like putting the heavier ones to some specific clubs like woods or wedges?
@@EFGMC great, I had ordered the midsized ones and thought shoot maybe they’re all too small. Good review. Thanks for taking the time to do that. How do you line up the grip to the club head exactly? I’ll check your videos for any tips.
Midsize can weigh from + 6-7g to as much a 14-15g heavier than a Reg 49-51g grip. Reduces SW by 4/5g per SW pt, and moves club balance point toward the butt. Some measure club MOI using a Golf Mechanix MOI Speed unit ( basically length squared x mass).. and it changes slightly. I base grip size on comfort.. very ‘feely’ golfers can sense the weight distribution change. Most can not.

Great review. I think Geoleap has a mid size as well
The biggest thing that I have noticed about using the knockoff grips besides smaller feel is that they dry rot much quicker.
Have the Geoleap ,ok .I think they feel a little thinner and were tapered.

3 degrees upright will close the face down so you might in theory see more distance out of them. This will show itself more in the short irons.
