If you're at all familiar with the added machining processes required to achieve that built-in collar, on top of the fact that both titanium and magnets aren't cheap in production, you won't think this price is out of line. If I'm looking at these versus something like a chan bar (which I really want), I can understand the $400 price tag of these a lot easier.
Love your work coop..my gym is coming together thanks to you. I am very happy with every piece of equipment you have recommended. With my asskissing said, 400$ normally 500 is way too much for adjustable dumbells. They will need to come down in price to really see market control.
I love it, and I'm getting it. This bad boy will last the rest of your life, so its worth it. People will spend $1000 every year on a new phone without thinking twice about it...I don't get it. These dumbbells are a no brainer.
Of all the equipment that I have tried or tried to get during this time, dumbbells been one of my struggles since I did not want to spend the money or space on a lot of regular dumbbells. If the Ironmaster adjustable dumbbells were not only available through a lottery system I would almost certainly prefer those to either the Rogue or Gungnir adjustable handles. However I did pre-order these dumbbell handles when I saw them in this and the other video. 1) The price? The Rogue stainless steel DB-15 plus collar is $185 so about $30 for a total price difference for two. I do not find this too big of a price difference given some of the features I like. I do agree though that $499 would be excessive. 2) The shorter length than the DB-15? That is a feature in my opinion. I own 2 of the stainless steel DB-15 and they are just too darn long. In two of the key movements I like Dumbbells for, double curls, and double overhead press, the 20.5" total length of the DB-15 means that the dumbbells are always hitting each other. The Gungnir are 18.42" in length which should help a lot in using these bars for me. Go with the DB-10 you say? The loadable length on those 3.65" sleeves is only 2.15", is crazy short. I have no idea why they are so short. Especially given there is another product, the DB25-10 with a decent 2.5" loadable length. Here is the problem, the DB25-10 has a 25mm handle. I have fairly average hand size and I find these uncomfortably small diameter. Especially if I have been beating my hands up on other lifts that session. I just do not understand why Rogue does not combine the DB25-10 sleeve and the DB10 handle to make a usable adjustable dumbbell in the 15-70lb range (assuming .75" 10LB iron plates like those from REP Fitness). 3) You can fit less plates? This is not as big an issue for me. I am happy with lighter weights for chest press, and I have other options, like landmines and barbells for rows if I want to go above 125lbs since I can still fit 122lbs per dumbbell. It will be a while for me before a 244lb bench press for one rep would not be an amazing day, let alone a dumbbell press at a combined 244lb. 4) Now I do have a concern about the loose fit. However the REP Fitness iron plates are much tighter fit so I expect a lot less slop overall than those CAP plates in the review. Anyway I am taking a chance that these will be the loadable dumbbells for me when they ship hopefully in June.
@@Natural.Crusader I posted this 2 years ago, at the time I was making my purchases, probably a year prior to this post, there was nothing simple about getting Ironmaster products, like their adjustable dumbbell. I specifically mention this in my comment. "If the Ironmaster adjustable dumbbells were _not_ only available through a lottery system I would almost certainly prefer those to either the Rogue or Gungnir adjustable handles." I purchased my first DB-10 and DB-25 adjustable dumbbells from Rogue. This was due to them being available, barely. The IronMaster was suffering apparently much worse from supply and production issues related to the pandemic. Since I had not been successful in winning a chance to purchase their product I had to go another direction. I also did not want to pay extremely inflated prices that resellers were asking for other adjustable dumbbells. Once I already had the DB15 and DB25s I also purchased additional compatible plates to go along with them. I then sold the DB-10s, for a bit of a profit, and pre-ordered the Gungnir to get access to the significant discount. 2+ years on and I still am very happy with them and they serve me well. Overall today my dumbbell problem is pretty much solved with the combination of the adjustable ones I own, and a few select urethane coated professional fixed dumbbells. The great thing is, if you take care of them, this equipment basically lasts forever. Now, if I was to start from scratch today I would almost certainly go other directions, but then this is nearly 2024, not mid 2020 to end of 2021.
When u said to quiet myself i thought, ‘what the hell for’, then i found myself so satisfied by that damn sliding and clicking sound. About to go order a pair now and oh yeah, new sub. Keep ot up bro.
If Coop used better plates there would be a lot less slop. Rubber/urethane change plates would be the best. Those Gungnir handles with Eleiko Vulcano change plates would be excellent.
For the knee problem i solved it using power hooks.... and there is the advantage to start in the good position without rolling back with the heavy dumbells
I might be crazy but $400 for a pair of DBs is in line with rogue at $350 with collars... I'll spend the extra 50 bucks for peace of mind I know the shipping is going to be outrageously different.
Agreed. Price point needs to include collars you’d buy for other handles. They’re priced as premium product but not too far out of line with Rogue or Eleiko
@@lukea2806 agree depending on what segment of the market you’re in. Same arguments can be made for other things like cars, homes, etc. if you’re looking for just base model handle that’ll likely work just fine then Titan or any other no name brand would probably work without issue and be super cheap
@@BrandonSchwartz1 but in my opinion (which, to be fair, is an opinion) loadable dumbbell handles are already inferior because they’re clunky and awkward, so I don’t see why you would pay a premium price for them unless you were filthy rich and doing it because you can. Loved your 1st video on the Olympic Bar and when I saw the Dumbbell, I HAD TO ORDER it! And because of this video I did.. My logic: I have all the plates (Over 700lbs of plates), and this would essentially replace a FULL rack of Dummbells which could be in the price range of $5K+ for a good set like IronGrip with Rack. So $438 W/ Tax.. to me, it's worth it.. but I agree if I had to do place on my knee for bench and putting them back on the ground maybe a task.. but I'm thinking I could just have the weight hit my lap then place it on the ground
Just as a comparison, the iron master upgrade package from 75 lb to 120lb is $349. That’s after dropping $500 on the original set. I love my iron masters but as I outgrow them options like the ones Coop showed today start to make a lot more sense to me.
I thought the built-in collar was a little extra on a barbell but, yeah, I could see that being nice on a dumbbell. Dumbbells get vertical way more often and the knurl is less of a big deal too.
I’m glad I stumbled onto your videos. Thank you for your honest opinion and testing on products. The only problem I now have is my shopping list is just getting longer.
The price is good for what you get the roque with the collars is about the same. But I would prefer a good one inch loadable dumbbell which makes much more sense for doing heavy presses and rows. And it does not have enough length on the sleeves.
bellsofsteel has plates in stock right now! Don’t sleep. I ordered a bunch today to go along with my PRX home gym setup. Got extra 10’s and 5’s for the dumbler!

Thanks for the review, Coop! I've purchased a LOT based on your videos, including pre-ordering this item. FYI to all - Gungnir will sell these individually if you contact them. I have Powerblocks and only wanted one of these for >90lb loading for some single dumbbell exercises, and think this is a very worthy purchase.
I have adjustable dumbbells up to 50lbs but for anything heavier an easy alternative is to loop a luggage tie down strap through weight plates and a steel cable handle, for each side, that works fine for things like incline bench, farmer's walks and military presses.
@@harmanrandhawa3191 .... The key to the Gungnir dumbbell handles has to do with the built in collar. The majority of collars will slip off. I just bought the Marcy dumbbell kit off Amazon. It's the cheapest set listed. My entire homestead gym is made up of the cheapest stuff that should get the job done. I'm looking forward to giving them a try today. I definitely agree that being able to use the same weights for my bench, lat pull down, easy bar and barbells is ideal for the home gym.
I was so excited for these since I need to get some home gym equipment and waited for the pre-order page to launch. That was an ordeal in and of itself because the page didn't launch when expected. I loved the idea of them for all of the same reasons Coop does. But after really thinking about it, my apartment living self would just be better off buying a set of bands, so that's exactly what I did. I hate to cancel orders, but Gugnir was really great about it.
The issue with dumbbell bench press and resting the dumbbells on the thigh is to rest the plate on the thigh and not the end of the dumbbell. If your dumbbells have collars with a tension bar then that needs to be on the outside when you pick up the dumbbells so that the weight doesn't come down and rest on the bar/thigh.
Damn I was getting real hyped for these til I saw the price. The biggest downsides in seeing is sleeve length, mild knurling, and the fact we’d all have to look for smaller plates.
Funny, the ordinary spin lock has one advantage over these. Its easier to rest them on the legs for bench. With the spinlock, you can put a few washers or spacers on there so that the collar sits flush on the handle. Then you rest the collar on your legs. The "side of the plates on the knees" thing works as a substitute but it a bit awkward.
price wise its.pretty.close to a pair of db15+oso collars with tax shipping etc which is what I did last year. Of course you need plates but those are relatively cheap, and it replaces an entire rack of regular dbs which are a lot more these days. Particularly with shipping, storage and the add on sets to reach the weights something like this will handle.
If you put a 1/4" foam rubber washer on the inside of the handle in front of the plates, it would compress when you put the collar on and take up all of that slack.
Coop, could you try and test Rogue DB25-10 loadable dumbbells and with the US OSU Aluminium collars? I'd very much like to see that combo and how well the collars does there.
I usually make fun of most adjustable dumbbells, but damn that thing is cool. As for the clunking of the iron, I actually like the sound, which is saying something, as I'm rather compulsive about noise. But that sound is just quintessential weightlifting to me.
Could you please share the end-to-end length of this dumbell bar? The mechanism is fantastic though has a list of negatives. It was very well explained too.
Quantity has a quality all its own. Dumblers cost $400($399) for a pair, Rogues cost $250 a pair. These are both incredibly nice loadable dumbbells that should exceed anyone's needs and not significantly break down over time, I consider both handles equally perfect. So you're paying $150 for the built in clips on the Dumblers. Rogue OSO collars cost $40 a pair, so they make the Rogue set total $330. Assuming neither break are the Dumbler's worth $70 more than the Rogues+OSO collars? If you are ok without Rogue's collars (and/or value money more) it's a much harder question. Metal clips are $5 a piece on Amazon so $400 Dumblers vs $270 Rogues+metal clips. Would you pay $130 more for the Dumblers? Metal clips aren't perfect, although they're good enough for dumbell weights and exercises in my opinion, but you could buy 26 more of them before you equal the Dumblers for price. Dang, doing the math makes me wish I could've gotten the Dumblers instead of Rogue's+collars 3 years ago. Especially since I don't like the Rogue OSO collars and the Dumblers look so convenient. My #1 concern was longevity, but the amount of abuse shown in this review (and my low weights) puts that to rest. If Garage Gym Reviews could hook us up with a discount, and a corresponding affiliate bonus for himself, I would be extremely tempted to make the effort to sell my Rogue's and upgrade. Or more realistically just buy the Dumblers, keep saying I intend to sell the Rogue's, and do all the insane 4 loadable dumbell super sets I can imagine.
At the end of the video, it would have been good to actually measure up the maximum loadable sleeve length against the Rogue (+collar). Hard to see, but the Gungnir might come out as a smaller loadable length?
These look very good, the only reason I haven't bought loadable dumbbells for my home gym yet, is that I'm trying to be as space efficient as possible, so I was looking for an option that would allow me to do skullcrushers with them, this is definitely that! The price is a bit steep (370 EUR with shipping to Germany), but once I've renovated the basement, I'll definitely take another look at these. I'm pouring my own plates, so also that'll allow me to make plates at the exact thickness I need, and avoid the slop, although, with 108mm for concrete, I'll probably (obviously depending on what diameter I choose to go with) top out around 40kg on the handle, which is probably ok, but not great.
Gungnir, if your watching please add a piece of rubber on to the inside end of the collar, the compression of the rubber can make up for the "slop" as garage gym reviews puts it, and it will dampen the noise so i wont wake up my kids. You can also make it thinner since its not holding nearly enough weight, and even possibly thinner groves to have a tighter fitment. have you thought about a one groove design? with half the weight being able to be put on the bar two notches going into two grooves is a bit overkill. i know this can affect manufacturing processes but if you dont do it someone else will
I love these, wish they would've made the lock slightly smaller though, so that the overall length of the dumbbells could just be a couple of centimeters smaller, but overall it's great.
The first time i saw this i was like " WOW , I AM NOT IMPRESSED " and seeing it again i have to say I am still not impressed ! It is a gimmick , but unlike most gimmicks this one comes with a price ! And THE PRICE OF THIS GIMMICK IS TOO DAMN HIGH! And when you add all the other cons onto that price it just makes no sense ! I love adjustable dumbbells , i have adjustable dumbbells and adjustable dumbbells that use Olympic plates are just dumb , the rattle too much , you have so much wasted space at the end , they stab my thighs and quads every time i try to use them to do bench . The ones that use the weird weights with the small hole are superior ! You cannot use the weights on other machines , but because they use a big nut to tighten everything there is no rattle .They are smaller but still stab your leg when you want to kick them up for a bench . You can realistically load them ,which is to say that i can make it up to 90 ish pounds while still being a useful size . Yeah you can load more weight on the Olympic style one ,but can you really use it if you put a 45 pound plate on it or even a 35 ? HECK even the 25 pound plates are too big when they are that close to your wrist. Realistically the biggest plate you can use on an Olympic style dumbbell without limiting your mobility and range of motion is a 10 pounder , so you will need to have 8x 10 pound plates . Do you have 8 x 10 pound plates in your gym right now ? Well better go get some cause those are the ones you are going to be using if you want to load that dumbbell ! And that is for just one
Dang man, I go 200lb and loadable dumbbells for $130. Keep in mind it was pre COVID. I don’t know if I could spend that much on one piece of equipment when I could by a reverse hyper for that amount. But they are really cool.
Hey Coop, you should review the loadable dumbbells from The Strength Co. I think they give Rouge Fitness a run for their money, their collars are pretty good too. However, you are the expert. I'd love to see a video on it.
I was looking at these, and I see they sell their own plates. I hope the gap between the collars and plates are smaller, as the plates use din this video, would abs be a no go in terms of gap!
They have a one inch bar. Would prefer to see a standard weight plate adjustable dumbbell. I was really excited when coop said dumbbells were in the works. Wish they’d have started with the smaller bars vs. Olympic. The plates are easier to use around your head. I’m not even that strong yet so a big fat dumbbell is kinda overkill. Also I would LOVE to see how easy and fast Ironmaster plates could be interchanged on a standard size gungnir bar.
Personally I started with standard weight plates, so when I do upgrade to Olympic, unless I need to trade or sell my standards to buy olympics, I’m keeping the standards for dumbbells and curl bars (up to 200 lbs should be plenty for all my lifts short of large compound lifts) realistically, it feels like unless you already have a good Olympic weight plate set, Olympic loadable dumbbells seem clunky and awkward, plus with standard bars, threaded collars are very common and fantastic. That said, I’m also looking to add some non adjustable dumbbells for quality of life only... I can do 95% of anything I think of with mine and loadable dumbbells are always my suggestion for what to start with... with standard plates, a straight bar, curl bar, 4 dumbbells, adjustable bench, a few bands, a plate loaded lat pull down machine, and a jump rope, you literally have a full gym you can do anything short of heavy compound lifts, which while nice, are NOT required to get in shape or build your body!! Also, loading the dumbbell with more smaller plates, helps you feel better when you put it on your leg...
It’s a lot easier on the wrists when the plates rotate also. On my fixed dbs at home I purposely loosen the bolts at the end to allow for rotation. Which is why Watson dbs are also the best.
Awesome DB handles !! (Costy) Never understood 2 Things: 1) why doesnt 50 mm screwable handles exist ? 2) you should not put the bar on your leg ! Instead put 1/2 side of the plate on your leg! Way more comfortable. And not worse then a normal dB...

I simpy got the ironmasters and didnt need to pay for the db15 and the gungnir which is completely unnecessary
@@Natural.Crusader I posted this 2 years ago, at the time I was making my purchases, probably a year prior to this post, there was nothing simple about getting Ironmaster products, like their adjustable dumbbell. I specifically mention this in my comment.
"If the Ironmaster adjustable dumbbells were _not_ only available through a lottery system I would almost certainly prefer those to either the Rogue or Gungnir adjustable handles."
I purchased my first DB-10 and DB-25 adjustable dumbbells from Rogue.
Shipping is only $39 😊👍
Agreed. Price point needs to include collars you’d buy for other handles. They’re priced as premium product but not too far out of line with Rogue or Eleiko
350 for a pair of loadable dumbbell handles is still absolutely insane
@@lukea2806 agree depending on what segment of the market you’re in. Same arguments can be made for other things like cars, homes, etc. if you’re looking for just base model handle that’ll likely work just fine then Titan or any other no name brand would probably work without issue and be super cheap
@@BrandonSchwartz1 but in my opinion (which, to be fair, is an opinion) loadable dumbbell handles are already inferior because they’re clunky and awkward, so I don’t see why you would pay a premium price for them unless you were filthy rich and doing it because you can. I personally think this product appeals to a tiny fraction of home gym owners. Cool, but not practical to me
The sound of iron clanking is like music to my ears
Mine are on the way...actually not scheduled here until June, unfortunately.
Very satisfying "snick" sound. Great design IMO.
4:58 ''...let me have a try....''

honestly, after watching the torq rope vid, I was expecting these to be more money lmao. pricey but not obscene tbh
I was thinking $200 for the pair.
@@craigman7262 At $200/pair, I'd jump at them, as is, I'm salivating, but hesitant to pull the trigger.
Your video production value outstanding
The price is good for what you get the roque with the collars is about the same. But I would prefer a good one inch loadable dumbbell which makes much more sense for doing heavy presses and rows. And it does not have enough length on the sleeves.
I have seriously been considering these. The only thing is trying to find weights period let alone the right ones!
bellsofsteel has plates in stock right now! Don’t sleep. I ordered a bunch today to go along with my PRX home gym setup. Got extra 10’s and 5’s for the dumbler!
@@iBamboozler I live in an area where people stole my mother's cancer medicine from my mail box. Do you think weights have a chance? My mother passed away from cancer.

That’s wicked! Ordering now!
these are good but found these dumbbells that are way cheaper

@@harmanrandhawa3191 .... The key to the Gungnir dumbbell handles has to do with the built in collar. The majority of collars will slip off. Unless the "Fat Chubby Dumbbell Handles" (that TH-cam link) has non-slip collars, then you can’t really compare the two. These are expensive for what they are, but less expensive than many adjustable dumbbells, plus they will last forever, so I wouldn't call them unaffordable.
@@plmn93 400 dollars for a pair of LOADABLE, not adjustable, dumbbells. You can get the same thing effectively for 100 or less. You’re just paying 4x that for the built-in collar
I need this in my life
soon as you said i usually do this with a tricep kickback I had to give a thumbs-up. another great video coop! ;-D
You had me thinking that the loading part of the could extend longer for more space to load more plates lol dang it that would have been a really cool option
400 bucks is nothing if u already got the plates. i was expecting him to say 800 bucks lol
I would go with these if I have plates th-cam.com/video/ienUoygzhME/w-d-xo.html
Good point about the weight being concentrated on your knee in some positions. It wouldn't have occurred to me.
I would think you could cut a disc out of paneling, cardboard, some type of rubber to put between your first and second plates to reduce the slop.
Check out Bells of Steel db handles! Very nice and good price, couldnt wait for Titan's to come in and pre ordered BOS instead. Couldnt be happier
Buy once cry once
I would have like to see the fit on the gungnir with the rogue dumbell weight plates ,Coop.
Do a review on the BAADASS ADJUSTABLE DUMBBELLS
They should add a threaded collar to the inside of the dumbbell handle that can be used to take up slack in the plates and keep them from rattling.
Price isn't an issue. Well engineered. You can use construction type knee pads for benching or a homemade velcro strap with a thick floor rubber pad.
That intro 😂 What are you doing Step-Garage Gym Reviewer?!
I get it they cost a lot for loadable dumbells but it still is cheaper than getting a dumbell set. I’d definitely consider this option
Agreed
Honestly, if I would not be a student... I'd buy that in a heartbeat

I'vr been waiting for this since the review of the their last product.
I really thought he was going to do a kickback with 92 lbs. That would have blew my mind.
If you put a 1/4" foam rubber washer on the inside of the handle in front of the plates, it would compress when you put the collar on and take up all of that slack.
Agree, it is pricey but unique and useful.
Cool. Maybe the company can provide metal spacers between the clip and plates to stop the wobble.
It is. Dumbler is 4.25” loadable length while Rogue DB-15 is 5.25” loadable if using a 1.5” collar like the Rogue aluminum ones
It will with high use, hopefully you can slide a regular collar over the bar when that built in one disintegrates.
Could be worth it, considering most adjustable dumbbells run around $300-$750 (based on that "Best of 2021" video I saw somewhere recently)
Man these look sick and the plates that gunnies makes for them are slick too. Only thing is i fee like it would hurt having these rest on your legs 💀
I'm pouring my own plates, so also that'll allow me to make plates at the exact thickness I need, and avoid the slop, although, with 108mm for concrete, I'll probably (obviously depending on what diameter I choose to go with) top out around 40kg on the handle, which is probably ok, but not great.
these are good but found these dumbbells that are way cheaper
th-cam.com/video/ienUoygzhME/w-d-xo.html
Why would you set the ends on your knees? I always set the plate edges on my knees; way more comfortable.
I'm heading to Norway soon, but even if these were out it would probably still be cheaper to ship them due to the VAT.
Can’t wait for Titan to copy this so I can buy it
Have the my done it yet
Dang man, I go 200lb and loadable dumbbells for $130. Keep in mind it was pre COVID. I don’t know if I could spend that much on one piece of equipment when I could by a reverse hyper for that amount. But they are really cool.
Just added a (couple of washers) to possibly prevent the wiggle play of the plates.
Too much money...instead I bough a $50 version with some nice collars...works perfect. Highly recommend doing adjustable dumbbells like this!
Hey Coop, you should review the loadable dumbbells from The Strength Co. I think they give Rouge Fitness a run for their money, their collars are pretty good too. However, you are the expert. I'd love to see a video on it.
Intro was very nice!
To take the slop out try using rubber o-rings.
I agree with you Coop but then again.. Most things are outragously expensive in Norway..
I was looking at these, and I see they sell their own plates. I hope the gap between the collars and plates are smaller, as the plates use din this video, would abs be a no go in terms of gap!
How do you get the Incredible Coop to calm down? Just move the clip a few times and it will put him in a trance.
I hate rotating handles on dumbbells, feels much less stable for pressing movements.
Awesome DB handles !! (Costy)
Never understood 2 Things:
1) why doesnt 50 mm screwable handles exist ?
2) you should not put the bar on your leg ! Instead put 1/2 side of the plate on your leg! Way more comfortable. And not worse then a normal dB...
They do exist! Hard to find though. I've only seen them from an image search
@@matthewklan already searched ! But never found 50 mm versions of screwable handles, only the 30mm ones. ...
