- Come along with us as we are doing what it takes to keep the cows healthy; looking good and feeling good. We had a hoof trimmer come out to trim hooves and check out Willow's feet. Then we had to vaccinate cows at one of our pastures. It is very important to vaccinate and deworm your cattle to keep them producing for you. We try to work each herd of our cows at least twice a year. This day we gave Ultrabac 8, Lepto and Cydectin Pour On Dewormer.

It was actually her first time getting her feet trimmed. But she’s so chill, not much bothers her

Thanks for watching! Florida summers are super hard. I honestly usually body shave mine and then let their hair grow back in. Genetics play a huge factor in it. I try to keep them as cool as possible so they will eat all summer and gain weight. Late summer I will start their hard core hair routine. Rinsing daily, sprays daily and washing with shampoo weekly. A rice root brush will be your best friend. Then about 120 days out I give melatonin implants (if they need it).

I started showing hogs when I was 8. I’ve been showing cattle for 8 years now
Do you raise cattle strictly for show or do you raise them for slaughter as well?
Both. I show both heifers and steers. My steers are for slaughter. The heifers I keep for breeding. My family also has a commercial cattle operation where we sale calves for slaughter.

What breed of cattle do you mostly have?
What are the black heifers.
All kinds 😂 Our commercial herd is a lot of charolais and brangus. My show cattle range from charolais, to Maine X to just lots of crossbred club calves. I also have some Simmental and Angus X.
what? breed is willow and Conway?
Willow is a charolais and Conway is just a crossbred. He has some shorthorn in him. He’s sire is Perfection and his dam is a Monopoly cow.
