    Excellent work Sylvain. Very good point about the modifications. Even minor things can really improve the experience of the 996. Slightly louder mufflers, plenum + intake resonator removal, 997 shifter kit, sway bars, suspension. These may sound like a lot but they don't change the look of the car yet provide substantial improvement in the driving experience. Carry on & enjoy your Carrera!

    I owned a 996 40th Anniversary back in 2004-05, and I will be looking for a 996 to modify... I'm falling in love with the 996 again!

      Marwan - although it was many years ago, do you recall the number of your old 911 40th? I own Nr. 0711. We have a Registry owners group you would enjoy being part of (free thing for fun). Visit us at www.40jahre911.com and facebook.com/40jahre911.

    Hi Sylvain, last summer I put my B16 PSS10 kit in my 996 C2. I also have Eibach AR-bars and Powerflex bushes (just like Jethro Bovington has in his). I wonder which setting you use in your PSS10? I started from front 5 and rear 6 and step by step went to 8 and 9. I ended up at 6 and 8 but I am not entirely happy with the set up. Compared to the OEM standard the car is less stable going straight. It is good in corners. In straights he car does not like grooves at all. It seems to go too easily onto diagonal corners. I believe I have a little too stiff AR-bars (now at softest) and a little too much negative camber now. My ride height is 126 mm in front and 135 at rear.
    The front damper curve is not quite what I’d like. The 911 does not tolerate hard bump setting as the front starts to bounce due to the big weights over the rear axle. However, with PSS10 with soft setting the cut-off valve does not really come in to play. It only comes at higher settings like >7. The rear seems to prefer quite stiff setting and it doesn’t require so much cut-off IMO.
    Please, share your experiences.

  • @DeanoTXR53
    @DeanoTXR53 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    Great car! How do you find the stiffness on the PSS10? I nearly ordered those for my 996, but went with the Ohlins R&T instead for nearly the same price. Spring rates are much higher than the PSS10 but I hear the DFV shocks make it livable day to day... or so I hope!

      Keep up the good work with the videos. They are very enjoyable. I have a Caterham Superlight No. 106 (1.6 K Series built in 2000); but you have got me looking at adverts for 996s!

    Excellent video,nice roads too. I am English living in the Vaucluse, previous Porsches: Ruf 911 turbo and then 993 carrera 2 supercharged, highly modified. I am now retired so my budget only allows for a 996 which I would like to "outlaw" but will I be disappointed after the aircooled cars !!

    • @robrobinson707

      Liz Fisher Frank I agree with you Liz. I know he drives on the track, and drives well, but there were many times that if he met himself coming the other way, on the wrong side of the road around corners, and blinded with sunstrike, when a crash was definitely possible. I love driving and driving fast (mostly on track), but driving fast on public roads requires exceptional care, as well as skill.
