Right on Willie everything you said is legit. I own a Kia 2011 Optima and while operating the vehicle it locked up and ended up on a tow truck. Got the vehicle to the dealership where I got the news of a blown engine. Mind you this was before Kia / Hyundai admitted the problem it was known but not yet revealed publicly. The universe had me in favor on that day because just as I was told my engine was shot a stranger at the dealership, a independent parts seller pulled me aside and explained the manufacturing process that was the cause of the engine problem. Moreover this guy asked for a email address and forwarded to my attention some information that I could use in my effort to get Kia to act in good favor which they did. One thing other reading this post might want to keep in mind is that adhering to the vehicle maintenance guide would be helpful to there efforts.
The same thing happened to my 2012 Optima Hybrid last March...I thought that was the end of it. I JUST got the recall letter in the mail last week. Blew my mind! I can't wait to get my car back, I loved my car.

This just happened to my sister's 2013 Optima. She was on the interstate going to work and it just locked up in the middle lane. Luckily traffic wasn't bad and 2 guys stopped and pushed her to the shoulder. Kia replaced the engine and she just got it back.
My 2013 SXL is with Kia for this now they just received the new engine but they are replacing turbo under recall as well. But sadly turbo is stuck at the port in Cali so no idea how long that’ll take with the situation they are having. I lost all power and key is saying is not detected so im hoping something with the engine being seized is causing the key problem.

Only 95k miles, kept up on all my oil changes minus this one which I'm at just about 4k over - from what I've always understood was 5k was the max (between school, work, and a newborn I've been super busy and tax time was when I'm planning a full tune up). Bought from a second hand dealer at 66k miles and only 1 previous owner. Engine seized up when all dash lights lit up (luckily) right after I got off the highway. Tow truck driver came and found that my oil dipstick was absolutely dry. I've had zero warning lights pop up at all in the past 6 months, like I said I usually keep up with everything and I did all of my own brake work (pads, rotors, calipers) so this came out of nowhere to me. Last car I owned was a 2002 Solara/Camry and with the same care lasted for 200k.. The suspense is killing me, can anybody shed some light?
What about 2016 optima? White smoke from tail pipe. Tick. Usually bone dry half through oil change. Have to add two qrts. Has 105k obvious out of warranty. Called Kia they said such my thumb

my 2015 optima hybrid came back today and it seems some screws that connect the main HEV cables with the petrol-engine (on the right bottom front in the engine room)were strongly corrosive or oxidiced! They cleaned the screws and put on some violet paste to protect it. The service said they don't know why the screws looked that bad! Please do all check this area. I can send you a photo of the area the service showed me.

My 2015 Kia Optima engine had to be replaced at 50,000 miles for the same issue. It locked up and fortunately I got to the side of the road before the wheels locked up. Kia fixed me up with a new engine.

Currently going through this now. My 2015 Kia Optima EX engine went crazy on me while driving back downtown Atl from Conyers. Luckily I could drive the car a few miles to the nearest Firestone. Firestone told me I needed a new engine and the engine I had are known for recalls. Had the car sit overnight in the firestone parking lot. The next day which was a Sunday, I had the car towed to Kia. Kia called me Tuesday saying they're going to replace my engine and pay for my rental car but its going to take at least 6 to 8 weeks. I have to go get my rental car in the morning. This past weekend was stressful af. I put a set of brand new tires on my car, oil change and alignment and a day later this shit happens to my poor Kia.

Took my 2014 Optima in this morning. I suddenly lost power but the revs would still climb when I pushed the throttle. The dealer said it could be a connecting rod which is another recall. They won't cover a rental for the 2-3 days it takes to inspect it.

Hey Willie. My 2014 Kia Optima is running fine BUT every time I turn it on, there’s about 4-6 clicks that come from the dash or a/c area, I think. Everything runs fine too, a/c, heat, does everything it’s supposed to. Any idea what the clicking noise could be? Trying to figure out where to start troubleshooting but no idea what to look up or would the problem could be. Thanks man
Sounds like your dampener door. It's a flap that opens up to switch air from defrost to ac. It's controlled by a vacuum from the engine. Noise from the dampener door is normal. I wouldn't worry about it too much. As cars get older the door makes more noise. I believe thats what it is

im having the same problem as well with my Kia Optima 2016 FE, but I’m being told it’s coming from my fuse box since there is also a whining noise. There’s no signs of warning lights. Usually I would just tap the fuse box and my car would just crank. Now it’s not turning over, it’s alerting me about tpms & also a “turn on fuse box” alert popped up on the screen. Also, my key will not let me unlock or lock my car doors. Im out of ideas and really depending on this car right now. Can someone help ?

2012 Optima SX with 113,000 when the first motor went up. Now I have 127,000 and I just got my fourth motor installed. As soon as I pick it up on Monday its getting traded in!!! I dont trust these cars anymore

I have a 2014 optima EX premium, I’m the second owner, and when this happened to me I took it to dealer and they said there’s nothing wrong with it as they started it up and it ran fine, but that was 6 months ago, not today my car is in like a limp mode with no check engine light on and is slowly but surly loosing heaps of power, and can BARELY make it up the slightest incline on the road.
My oil light will flicker and has been doing this for the past week although there is enough oil in the car it has also started making a ticking noise that increases as you pick up speed I'm wondering if that is even related to this I can tell that it looses power when going up and incline. I called the dealership today gave them my van they told me there is one active recall on my car but it's not related to that it's related to a fuel line. they suggest maybe I just get the oil changed and see if that solves the problem but I'm scared to get it changed because then what if there are flakes and by getting it changed not at the dealership the flakes won't be there. I set up an appointment for the recall to be fixed but that's two weeks away and I'm scared to drive my car it's my only car

Happened to me today. No warning light. I was on thr highway and the car started decelerating and jerking. Luckily i was able to make it to a gas station and get it towed to a close kia dealership. Hopefully this is the issue.
This is just something I have in mind, I was thinking on buying a 2015 Kia optima sx from auction 104xxx miles, I went and checked it it run smoothly and everything, Carfax says that is avoid warranty because it got total(by hail damage) if my engine end up getting seized , would the Savage tittle affect me? Would they still cover the engine since it was a recall, and whenever I run the recall website with the vin# it doesn't show anything pending, thanks in advance bud
Avoid it. I bought a car with very low mileage that has a salvage title and when I asked about any warranty the dealer said it was null and void due to the title.
My 2011 blew out due to this and Kia replaced my engine for free. Sucks that I paid $800 between towing fees, replacing the starter only to find out the motor was locked up, more towing fees, etc.
It's a recall on 2018 kia optima also. They told me I had to wait until my engine light start flashing or my car shut down. My engine light just came on. Now I'm waiting for it to start flashing. I don't know how long that's gonna take. But I'm ready for them to fix my car. It's under warranty.

I have a 2013 Optima Hybrid. I took it in a month ago for an oil change and to see if it has transmission problems associated with a recall. (test took 4 hours). They said the transmission is fine. Fast forward to Saturday my car chugged home and wouldn't reverse. Towed to dealer and they say transmission problem, will fix free and gave me a rental. Then they want $1,100 talking about the electric water pump needs replacing. I said I will keep putting coolant in it everyday before I pay them a dime. I will pay someone else to fix it.

I own a 2015 kia optima gdi one and have had a failed engine within a few weeks of me having it. And it did this exactly thank God I didn't have to pay for it
@@guilhermemaurieli yes they replaced it all due to engine failure I paid 54$ for a brand new engine it's a defect in the build they put out originally with the car. There's quite a few recalls also definitely check it out

I have a 2013 kia optima and it stopped on the freeway. Next day they gave me a rental and replaced engine. Car is paid off and i have less than 20k miles on the engine lol. Best warranty out there
Were you having oil consumption issues? I’ve been losing a lot of oil recently. I’m setting up an appointment with the Kia dealership for them to run a diagnostic test to see if they’ll replace my engine 🤞🏾

I have a 2014 Kia optima and i'm pretty sure my engine is seized. I did an oil change and the oil came out very black and only about half as much as i put in. the drain pan was empty before hand too. we scanned it and got a p0014 code , kia also sent us a recall for it but when we took it in they said it was fine. this is going to be a huge problem if they wont put an new engine in... they told us that the engine was fine and we just had to have the car towed back to the house and it wont crank at all. we tried spinning the camshaft too but no movement
Mine went out in Feb 2019 at 75k miles. so far it's been great after they replaced it. I always knew there was something wrong with the engine. During acceleration around 40mph it would do this horrible vibrating it would even shake the passenger seat. Now it runs so smooth. My only concern is how long do these "new" engines last? New engine now has about 25k miles
@@YungLgnd other subscribers said the new engine comes with a lifetime warranty. As far as which models, give the dealer your VIN and they can tell you if your vehicle is affected, and if you need an engine or not
My 2014 optima just cut off on me while I was driving and wouldn’t turn over after at all just one click . So I change my starter and still just a click 🤦🏽♂️
They are not paying for rental cars. My engine locked last year 2021on my 2013 kia optima sx. And they did NOT cover rental. They will pay reimburse up to a certain amount but, you will have to pay out of pocket first. Then submit your receipts to Kia to review for payment .

This happens to me last night...I'm worried that they wont replace it..I bought it used 5 days ago. The title is rebuilt. Has 117k miles. The engine seized up...it only knocked for a couple minutes b4 it happened...I have a orange dip sticking meaning it was tested and it passed the knocking test. But the engine hasnt been replaced before.

I drove it off the lot right after being “repaired” by Garden Grove Dealership. My vehicle stalled after only 10 miles! This the engine will not turn over. @@amitdpatel01 Get on your car to a dealer and get on the phone with KIA corporate, there's a product improvement policy on that engine if one of their techs determines the failure was a result of the defect. When you get it to them, tell them everything and have them run the diagnostic, then they'll have to take your engine apart. As long as there is no sludge and you've taken decent care of it (if not, then they're going to try and blame you, remember that they don't actually want to give you a free engine), what you'll be looking for them to report back on is a scraping issue with the low bearing rod which results in metal debris building up inside of your engine. The friction causes your engine to use more oil and a lot of it very quickly. When that's all out, your engine seizes and that's how it was explained to me. At the end of the day, my car was with the dealer for about 2 weeks while they received the new engine in from California and replaced it, for free. That's not to say it's no big deal getting that done though, I was pestering corporate and the dealer almost daily to get it done (I commute about 45 minutes to work on a nightly basis). They weren't happy about it, so they fucked some shit up but yeah I got my car back with a brand new engine all paid for by KIA.

Kia optima 2015 they are replacing my engine now. Engine lost power I thought it was something dealing with the coil pack or spark plugs which was just done 2 months ago

I was told by the kia dealership here in Virginia they made a bad batch of engines. So when they replace yours it's going to be the 2nd version of that engine by a NEW manufacturer..... And you have a recall dealing with your gas tank something like that. Call your local dealership

This happened in my 2013 a few days ago, basically went to neutral and coasted to a stop. Kia is doing the motor.

my 2015 optima hybrid came back today and it seems some screws that connect the main HEV cables with the petrol-engine (on the right bottom front in the engine room)were strongly corrosive or oxidiced! They cleaned the screws and put on some violet paste to protect it. The service said they don't know why the screws looked that bad! Please do all check this area. I can send you a photo of the area the service showed me.

My 2015 Kia Optima engine had to be replaced at 50,000 miles for the same issue. It locked up and fortunately I got to the side of the road before the wheels locked up. Kia fixed me up with a new engine.

Currently going through this now. My 2015 Kia Optima EX engine went crazy on me while driving back downtown Atl from Conyers. Luckily I could drive the car a few miles to the nearest Firestone. Firestone told me I needed a new engine and the engine I had are known for recalls. Had the car sit overnight in the firestone parking lot. The next day which was a Sunday, I had the car towed to Kia. Kia called me Tuesday saying they're going to replace my engine and pay for my rental car but its going to take at least 6 to 8 weeks. I have to go get my rental car in the morning. This past weekend was stressful af. I put a set of brand new tires on my car, oil change and alignment and a day later this shit happens to my poor Kia.

Took my 2014 Optima in this morning. I suddenly lost power but the revs would still climb when I pushed the throttle. The dealer said it could be a connecting rod which is another recall. They won't cover a rental for the 2-3 days it takes to inspect it.
Mines did the same thing then threw a rod the following week. Their replacing the motor now...

Hey Willie. My 2014 Kia Optima is running fine BUT every time I turn it on, there’s about 4-6 clicks that come from the dash or a/c area, I think. Everything runs fine too, a/c, heat, does everything it’s supposed to. Any idea what the clicking noise could be? Trying to figure out where to start troubleshooting but no idea what to look up or would the problem could be. Thanks man
Sounds like your dampener door. It's a flap that opens up to switch air from defrost to ac. It's controlled by a vacuum from the engine. Noise from the dampener door is normal. I wouldn't worry about it too much. As cars get older the door makes more noise. I believe thats what it is

im having the same problem as well with my Kia Optima 2016 FE, but I’m being told it’s coming from my fuse box since there is also a whining noise. There’s no signs of warning lights. Usually I would just tap the fuse box and my car would just crank. Now it’s not turning over, it’s alerting me about tpms & also a “turn on fuse box” alert popped up on the screen. Also, my key will not let me unlock or lock my car doors. Im out of ideas and really depending on this car right now. Can someone help ?

You should be able to give them the VIN and they can tell you weather or not you are affected.
Ok I bought a 2014 Kia Optima 86k miles but there seems to be no open recall on this vehicle based on the vin # which makes me think it was made after the manufactured date. I have no problems with the car, but I just got it and waiting on the title from the dealership. A little advice on my way forward when time allows, thanks.

I have a 2014 optima EX premium, I’m the second owner, and when this happened to me I took it to dealer and they said there’s nothing wrong with it as they started it up and it ran fine, but that was 6 months ago, not today my car is in like a limp mode with no check engine light on and is slowly but surly loosing heaps of power, and can BARELY make it up the slightest incline on the road.
Sounds like you need a second opinion. Take it to another shop. Document your problems.
My oil light will flicker and has been doing this for the past week although there is enough oil in the car it has also started making a ticking noise that increases as you pick up speed I'm wondering if that is even related to this I can tell that it looses power when going up and incline. I called the dealership today gave them my van they told me there is one active recall on my car but it's not related to that it's related to a fuel line. they suggest maybe I just get the oil changed and see if that solves the problem but I'm scared to get it changed because then what if there are flakes and by getting it changed not at the dealership the flakes won't be there. I set up an appointment for the recall to be fixed but that's two weeks away and I'm scared to drive my car it's my only car

Happened to me today. No warning light. I was on thr highway and the car started decelerating and jerking. Luckily i was able to make it to a gas station and get it towed to a close kia dealership. Hopefully this is the issue.
This is just something I have in mind, I was thinking on buying a 2015 Kia optima sx from auction 104xxx miles, I went and checked it it run smoothly and everything, Carfax says that is avoid warranty because it got total(by hail damage) if my engine end up getting seized , would the Savage tittle affect me? Avoid it. I bought a car with very low mileage that has a salvage title and when I asked about any warranty the dealer said it was null and void due to the title.

My 2011 blew out due to this and Kia replaced my engine for free. Sucks that I paid $800 between towing fees, replacing the starter only to find out the motor was locked up, more towing fees, etc.

It's a recall on 2018 kia optima also. They told me I had to wait until my engine light start flashing or my car shut down. My engine light just came on. Now I'm waiting for it to start flashing. I don't know how long that's gonna take. But I'm ready for them to fix my car. It's under warranty.

Take it to a kia dealer and everything will be handled from there. Ask people in the comment section. They have had good experiences with KIA

I have a 2013 Optima Hybrid. I took it in a month ago for an oil change and to see if it has transmission problems associated with a recall. (test took 4 hours). They said the transmission is fine. Fast forward to Saturday my car chugged home and wouldn't reverse. Towed to dealer and they say transmission problem, will fix free and gave me a rental. Then they want $1,100 talking about the electric water pump needs replacing. I said I will keep putting coolant in it everyday before I pay them a dime. I will pay someone else to fix it.

I own a 2015 kia optima gdi one and have had a failed engine within a few weeks of me having it. And it did this exactly thank God I didn't have to pay for it

@@guilhermemaurieli yes they replaced it all due to engine failure I paid 54$ for a brand new engine it's a defect in the build they put out originally with the car. There's quite a few recalls also definitely check it out

So I have a 2020 optima mine has the engine light come on and off it dies while driving and it dies while idling is there a simple solution to that

I have a 2014 Kia optima and i'm pretty sure my engine is seized. I did an oil change and the oil came out very black and only about half as much as i put in. the drain pan was empty before hand too. we scanned it and got a p0014 code , kia also sent us a recall for it but when we took it in they said it was fine. this is going to be a huge problem if they wont put an new engine in... they told us that the engine was fine and we just had to have the car towed back to the house and it wont crank at all. we tried spinning the camshaft too but no movement

Mine went out in Feb 2019 at 75k miles. so far it's been great after they replaced it. I always knew there was something wrong with the engine. During acceleration around 40mph it would do this horrible vibrating it would even shake the passenger seat. Now it runs so smooth.
My only concern is how long do these "new" engines last? New engine now has about 25k miles

My 2014 optima just cut off on me while I was driving and wouldn’t turn over after at all just one click . So I change my starter and still just a click 🤦🏽♂️

They are not paying for rental cars. My engine locked last year 2021on my 2013 kia optima sx. And they did NOT cover rental. They will pay reimburse up to a certain amount but, you will have to pay out of pocket first.
Then submit your receipts to Kia to review for payment .

This happens to me last night...I'm worried that they wont replace it..I bought it used 5 days ago. The title is rebuilt. Has 117k miles. The engine seized up...it only knocked for a couple minutes b4 it happened...I have a orange dip sticking meaning it was tested and it passed the knocking test. But the engine hasnt been replaced before.

I am currently going through the same thing with my 2014 Optima. My car has stalled 3 times since 6/10/20. The last one on this passed Friday. I drove it off the lot right after being “repaired” by Garden Grove Dealership. My vehicle stalled after only 10 miles! This the engine will not turn over. My car was towed by to the dealership and has been there since. Total nightmare.
2015 Optima ex here - my motor just failed 3 hours ago on my way to work..
Only 95k miles, kept up on all my oil changes minus this one which I'm at just about 4k over - from what I've always understood was 5k was the max (between school, work, and a newborn I've been super busy and tax time was when I'm planning a full tune up). Bought from a second hand dealer at 66k miles and only 1 previous owner.
Engine seized up when all dash lights lit up (luckily) right after I got off the highway. Tow truck driver came and found that my oil dipstick was absolutely dry. I've had zero warning lights pop up at all in the past 6 months, like I said I usually keep up with everything and I did all of my own brake work (pads, rotors, calipers) so this came out of nowhere to me. Last car I owned was a 2002 Solara/Camry and with the same care lasted for 200k..

@@amitdpatel01 Get on your car to a dealer and get on the phone with KIA corporate, there's a product improvement policy on that engine if one of their techs determines the failure was a result of the defect.
When you get it to them, tell them everything and have them run the diagnostic, then they'll have to take your engine apart. As long as there is no sludge and you've taken decent care of it (if not, then they're going to try and blame you, remember that they don't actually want to give you a free engine), what you'll be looking for them to report back on is a scraping issue with the low bearing rod which results in metal debris building up inside of your engine. The friction causes your engine to use more oil and a lot of it very quickly. When that's all out, your engine seizes and that's how it was explained to me.
At the end of the day, my car was with the dealer for about 2 weeks while they received the new engine in from California and replaced it, for free. That's not to say it's no big deal getting that done though, I was pestering corporate and the dealer almost daily to get it done (I commute about 45 minutes to work on a nightly basis). They weren't happy about it, so they fucked some shit up but yeah I got my car back with a brand new engine all paid for by KIA.

I was told by the kia dealership here in Virginia they made a bad batch of engines. So when they replace yours it's going to be the 2nd version of that engine by a NEW manufacturer..... And you have a recall dealing with your gas tank something like that. Call your local dealership
