    I have had the Super Vintage just over a year now and absolutely love it. I run DI as much as possible, but it also sounds great through my Ampeg PF-500. I had the opportunity a few weeks ago at a jam to stand in the audience and hear my rig being played by another player and the tone was fantastic.

    I got myself an Ampeg SCR-DI preamp after a concert where the sound guy didn't want to use the DI Out from the house amp, and ever since I've been using an actual amp less and less. It's been really nice just carrying my bass and my pedalboard and that's it - easy and fast to set up, less weight to carry and great sound. Would love to try these Origins out though

    You should check out the Trace Elliot Transit B. I have been using one for about a year and have to say its a pretty elegant simple solution for going direct. I started filling in on bass with a band last August and they all use direct instruments and in-ears. I added a chorus and octave pedal in front and have a pretty robust arsenal of tones if needed. Great video, loving the channel.

    Tried the bass rig 64 sounded good, but I felt the more drive you gave the pedal the bass would lose some its characteristic creamy thump, woody sort of sound. (I have this same bASS) . What surprised me was that 95% of the time I loved the sound the pedal had the blend at 12 or less that that. So I returned it. I found that if you are want to maintain the bass's great sound intact and just amplify it and have some eq options for it this is not the pedal at least imo.

      I think it just had to do with your sonic aesthetic. Both are great units with different character. I personally like the cleaner version of the 64 and the dirtier I prefer the super vintage. Both are great choices, but I am currently using the super vintage. Thanks for watching! ⚡️

    I’ve been in the market for the svt one for a long time but I still use a hx stomp for my run out the door gig box since I do still use two effects at the most. Some gigs a drive and a sans amp or other gigs a drive and a chorus &reverb mix. I would like to have one of these as a back up in case the stomp bricks on me live. Had only happened in my studio but you never know the only thing that bums me out is you can’t change the speakers I’m like you with that I prefer 12s I also own 2 Aguilar 12s just run my through a svt vr. And yes I work out daily to keep up with the weight 😂

    Great demo of the range of tones these can produce! I'm enjoying my Super Vintage a lot, but I still find myself gravitating toward the clean sound of my Noble and using the SV as a drive/boost pedal. Curious to know if you've tried either of these with the Noble (before or after in the chain and with the amp out or DI/cab sim). They go great together too, but it seems like overkill to have both on the board sometimes.

      This is something I've been thinking about as well. I'm using my noble with the cali 76 and loving it. Just curious about using the amp rig pedals for the cab sounds. I wonder if investing in a great drive/ distortion would be a better purchase. I have heard a video with a dude using the bass rig into his noble. The noble alone sounded better to my ears. ....but they both sound incredible. Do you have any examples you could share of you playing the bass rig through your Noble? (Sorry for the long winded reply)

    Hey Phil, great video. I really enjoyed your take on preamps. I play p bass Americana with the Ampeg B15n plugin. I have some liber performances and I am looking for a pedal to fly with that can capture that vibe. Do you think the Super Vintage can do it or would I be better off with the Bass Rig 64 black Panel or the new Ampeg pedal? I used a black Panel bassman tube amp for a few years, so that isn't a problem.(Origin, make a B15 version that rocks and I will buy the others in addition to it for backups and other tones, please.)
    I would prefer a pedalboard with tactile knobs vs a HX stomp all in one.
    I also dug the upright video today. Thank you Phil!

    These are great....however I'm not taking my Sansamp off my pedalboard any time soon....the Sansamp also has a battery compartment for the 9v dc power should I have a gig where minimal gear/footprint is required.
    As a cheap emergency setup I have an Orchid DI box and a TC Mojomojo that lives in the car....maybe not quite as good as these boxes that cost over £350 however in my experience people can be wowed by some of the most humble setups : )

  • @anthonylarussa6941
    @anthonylarussa6941 ปีที่แล้ว

    Would it be obtuse to have both of these on a pedal board for 2 totally different amp styles? Thinking the Black Panel for mellower, classic boomy 60s bass tones and SV for more mid scooped, overdriven aggressive tones. What are your thoughts?

    • @gigaha
      @gigaha 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I think it makes sense to have both if you’re taking your tone seriously - especially because these don’t have presets. If they had presets, you could probably dial in a mellow setting and an overdriven setting on either of these pedals, then toggle between. Another idea, though, would be to set one for that mellow, clean sound, and put an overdrive pedal in front of it. Then you could turn the overdrive on-and-off to switch between your sounds.
