  • Here's a video covering some of the challenges and tips I'd give someone that is about to tackle removing the radiator of a Case 580 CK/B backhoe. Mine was using coolant heavily and it was going into the torque tube (dipstick in front of the shifter). Mine is a power shuttle machine. Reinstallation is in my next video.

Question for you. I have the same backhoe and it appears to be leaking from the lower hose. I'm assuming there is zero space to do this with the radiator in the backhoe. So I'm doing the same process you outlined in your two 580 radiator breakdown? Thanks

It would certainly be easier to pull the radiator to do it but it would be much much faster to sneak it in while it's still in the machine. I would remove the bottom plate it mounts to so you can cheat it forward a bit and I bet if you slime up the hose with some soapy water you could get it in with a couple big flat head screwdrivers. They do make some cheap but very handy radiator hose tools with different shaped hooks that are very handy for that kind of job. Good luck!

good video, but I don't see a boom lock for that front bucket / You don't want to be under it if it comes down.............

I actually had a logging chain from the bucket to the backhoe. Very good reminder!
