Quick and efficient, learning by experience ... love it! Not sure which I like best though, the U2 pun cover of "Beautiful Day" or the original "Moo Gun Warming" song. Maybe I'll wait for the full versions to come out before committing.
Nothing like a chip acting like a cat wanting a good pet. You mentioned something to build -- I don't know if I've mentioned it before, you might consider a ux64 build. It's a Commodore 64 that fits in an ATX case and is made by Matthias. The boards even have card slots where you can add things like SSD controllers.
😸 I saw Lee Smith build one of those. Looks like a very cool project. Probably out of my price range for a while. I will most likely build some of the projects I have here ready to go first. And then in the summer I might be tempted to get the woodworking tools out and make something a bit special. If I get enough free time!
With CIA2 removed the VA14/VA15 lines into U14 are floating. There are no pull-up resistors on those, so behavior will be undefined and the capacitance from your finger will affect it. U14 can be bad but it can also be weak output from CIA2
The first gun I had the glass tube was just a bit too big. It was a nightmare to get out. This one is just right. I dont think they are built with much precision. I keep a spare of everything now. Couldnt be without it!
@@MoreFunMakingIt Really, looks like MOS's method of correcting broken lithography into marginal results has created some exciting material borders here.
I believe it would be nice to dedicate one C64 as a testing board and socket all the chips Anyone have a list of sockets to buy so you can make all the chips replaceable? Im hopeful there is even a source that sells a kit with all the sockets.
That's exactly what I will be doing with my own breadbin. Although I'm not keen to put ZIF sockets in there. I might do a count up and put something on my second channel later next week to show which sockets are needed.
Aww damn, I should have gone with Mark Fixes Stuff, yeah, even has a nice familiar feel to it.
You should totally rebrand. Mark Fixes Stuff in the RMC Cave. You'll have to come up with some words for the acronym.
@5:44 - 6:21 I never saw anything like it. It looks like, in sci-fi fashion, the 64 is phasing in and out of our reality.
Its a cool effect isnt it? I have 2 of these 74ls258 MOS chips now that do exactly the same thing. I might sell them as special editions 😆
Nicely done! Good thing you remember the last issues to help fix this one. Looking forward to your making it video, too. Thanks for sharing
Cheers Rudy! I have a terrible memory, so it was a good thing the last time I saw this fault was on the last machine I repaired! 😁

The moo gun song is an excerpt from a 5 hour rock opera I composed. Right up your street!
Nice repair ... Its always funny when you can do that with the chips ..ive seen that before on U14 and your right its like a stress reliever :) ..
I might sell this on ebay as a special edition 😆
@@MoreFunMakingIt Yeah psychedelic baby Yeah !!! lol 😂
"Moo out"! Love it.

That's interesting. I might have to experiment with this.
That fault almost looked like a demo starting up. I was wondering why music didn't start.
Techno techno techno techno!
Interesting having the same fault in such a short period of time again!
And please make longer videos again! Keeps me entertained for longer! 😂
Cheers
I will try! Had to rush this one out as away this weekend. But better and bigger stuff is on the way!
Bloody moo guns! Work a treat but the glass is so hard to get out. First time I managed to get it out it went flying..... NOOOooooooOooooo!

It's a beautiful day... for referencing songs and their artist. ;)
So true (Funny how it seems) 😁
Ha Lee’s Karaoke Corner ‘Where U2 can singalong to the greatest hits’ 🤪
Badly 😆
Funny that you get door/window cold calls to. When I answer I say I have no doors or windows but I have a hatch...
But is your hatch triple glazed?
The U14 at it again
I know right? It took me a minute to realise it was doing exactly the same thing. I thought I was caught in a loop.
Next video "Today I am going to be taking all these chips off this rev C board"
I am a man of my word. And that word is... maybe.
TY for the GREAT Commodore content!
Thank you Charlie! :D
Hi Jack! Another new video! You are on fire Leroy 😂❤❤❤ MOS chips grow moss overtime.
A rolling Breadbin gathers less MOS
@@MoreFunMakingIt Truer words have never been spoken, Lee! HEY!!! I DID IT! I REMEMBERED YOUR NAME! :D
Thanks! Appreciate the video!
Always welcome Miguel!
Great video their "Mark" fixes stuff Dad, you decided to show your son how to make the videos 😂😂
Hey! I might be old but I'm... Actually its probably possible.
Them pesky MOS chips. At least U14 is socketed so you can pop the the dodgy one back in to stroke of you've had a stressful day 😂
It's not a fault, its a feature!
Good fix, again.
Cheers Ghost!
What do you do for C64 power supplies, trust those dodgy old bricks?
I had @CommodoreLad from twitter build me a new PSU a while back. Its fab.
What, your bio-electric field adds enough twirl to have some electrons in the chip go quantum-tunneling?😃
I'm going to go try to train some ants...

Don’t go chasing mos failures. Please stick to the ribbons and the RAM that you’re used to. #AncientReference . Hey if you can do U2 I can do TLC.
TUNE!

I kept watching to get to the interesting part -- the video ended
You blinked. Watch it again and dont blink.
Lee Fixes Stuff new channel? 😄
Get me my lawyer on the phone!
Do you sell the C64s you fix? Would love to buy one
They dont belong to me. But you will be able to buy one if you find Paul's Ebay store. Almost all of them go on there after I fix them.
I will put a link in the description to his store.
So... you were playing ... Stroker 64?
There are any GIF's I wish I could insert here right now...
Please..no more chip stroking 😅
Hahaha! Control yourself! 😆
9:09 Who's a good chip? Yes, you are, aren't you?
