I hope you're having a wonderful end of November!
I haven't filmed a vlog in a little while, so I thought it would be nice to do so. I'm planning to keep vlogging during the holiday season, because it's my favorite time of year!
This mini vlog was a joy to put together. I love sharing my (art)work and parts of my day with you...not to mention my bookish rambles!

It might sound corny but my favorite thing about this time of year is how magical it feels. The snow and warm spices in the food and firelight evenings. Everything seems to be on the edge of a fairytale.
My favorite thing about this time of year is the changing of the leaves and the cooler weather.
I am currently rereading the Harry Potter series. I’m almost 40 and it seems like a life time ago that I read them so I wanted to dive back in. And my favorite part of this season is definitely decorating the trees in my home and a bonus if it’s snowing outside when I’m doing it ❤
Currently reading Persuasion by Jane Austen for a class and Anna Karenina!!! Loving both. My favorite winter activity is baking - I make delicious molasses cookies for the holidays
I've only discovered yours and Emma's videos this year, and you've very quickly become my favourite booktubers to just cozily "hang out" with. Exactly my vibe! My current read is The Secret History by Donna Tartt, and I'm really really enjoying it. The best thing I love about the winter season is actually the cold dark weather, I love how cozy it makes everything feel with thick jumpers, candles on, fairy lights, warm meals and soups, the dark cold seasons are my favourite ones
I'm on page 176 of Gregory Maguire's book Wicked (the life and times of the wicked witch of the west). I'm enjoying it so far 😄 my favorite part of this time of the year is when we buy ingredients and prepare the food for the new year's eve 🥰
Currently reading my first Fredrik Backman, Anxious People, and loving it.
Favourite holiday thing: probably just being together with the family.
I’m currently rereading my darling “Jane Eyre”. But my first experience with this book was actually in another language(my mother tongue is Russian). But now I’m reading it in English. It’s quite difficult for me; nevertheless I’m in love with these sophisticated words and obviously wonderful plot!)
I'm currently reading War and Peace by Leo Tolstoy, The Forevers by Chris Whitaker and Throttled by Lauren Asher. I'm enjoying War and Peace, not far enough into The Forevers to make a judgement and hating Throttled.
My favourite part about winter in glassiness of the surface of the river. The way it reflects the trees in the winter is so beautiful

And my favorite time of year is Christmas!
I love all of the sweaters, and I’m always in Christmas programs at church so I absolutely love the fun of putting on plays/programs
I also love spending time with my family. Of course I always do! But I am more aware of my blessings I guess you could say, around Christmas!
Yes, even after re-locating to South Florida I still like Christmastime very much. Regrettably, it's become somewhat impolite to talk about it as a holiday unto itself, so I'll simply agree with you that the Holiday Season is the best.

I get it, with the nervousness around book recommendations. When I want my favourite people to read my favourite books, I'm nervous they won't get along. It's like introducing a couple of your best friends to each other, and hoping they don't dislike each other.
I understand the comment about “precious physical reading time” and I relate to it because as a person who has a lot to get done in a day, I just can’t physically read as much as I want to, but I can multitask and listen to audiobooks while I do my daily tasks. But when I do have time to read physically, I prefer to read a book I know I will love so that I can properly savor it and annotate it.
I'm reading war and peace. I don't celebrate Christmas but I love watching Christmas movies
Yes I agree physical reading time is precious and it’s overwhelming as it how many books I want to read. Have to pick and choose more carefully!

I’m coming out of a reading slump and gearing up to finish East of Eden this week! I think it may end up being my favorite read of the year.
My favorite part of this time is the coziness snow brings and having extra excuses to be with loved ones. 💛

Currently reading Don Quixote, I’m on part two, loving the diverse personalities of all the characters. And usually during this period of the year I’m working on music and writing poetry, which I really enjoy, hope to finish some songs up before Christmas!
I’m currently reading The Count of Monte Cristo so it was nice to see the author portrait clips, my favorite thing of this time of year is all the holiday movies and shows 💜💜💜
I actually just finished that a couple days ago and really enjoyed it! Am also excited for the author portrait. 😁
‘The Count of Monte Cristo’ has been sitting on my shelf for a year. I truly do want to get around to reading it, as I reckon I’ll love it considering what I’ve heard but it’s so easy to avoid with its siZE and all 😩
@@sweetestaphrodite I know what you mean I had avoid it for awhile too but I finally decided to read it and it actually goes by pretty quickly, hopefully this motivates you to start reading it 💜

@@sweetestaphrodite yeah I totally get that. I found that it helped to mark off sections at a time. (I marked every 50 pages and only read that amount a day) it also helps to take it at your own pace and not worry too much about finishing it “fast”. It takes the pressure off. Hope that helps!

Your video has come at the right time because my mom is having some health problems and it has been very difficult for my household. I have been trying to be positive but it has been hard. I have been feeling the depression sink into me to the point where I don't want to read my books or anything I enjoy. Your sunshine personality has been so helpful. And I love Christmas at this time of the year because of how it just brings everyone together with the movies and the music and the actives to do together
baby Willow! It's hard to believe she was once that little! I am currently reading They Were Counted by Miklos Banffy a book about Hungarian society pre-WWI. It's giving me War and Peace vibes actually. I live in the southern hemisphere so it's spring here, my favourite part about this time of year is gardening. I've done all the hard work and everything is planted so now I just get to see everything grow, flower and fruit. I've been gardening for 3 years so some things are starting to fruit properly for the first time - like my raspberries!!! it's so exciting to pick and eat raspberries from my garden!! I also got a company to install and maintain a beehive for me - they are so friendly and happy to have around me when I'm outside.
I've pretty much replaced grape jam with raspberry, and when I cook I like to use them in omelets. enjoy

I'm currently reading The Starless Sea by Erin Morgenstern and really enjoying it! This is my favourite time of year I love the long cosy nights, Christmas lights, and just the general energy from meeting people in happy circumstances.
I am reading Babel by RF Kuang. My favorite things about this time of year are the music and candles in the windows.

Thank you for sharing your day with us. I am currently reading Julius Caesar by Shakespeare. This is not my first play by Shakespeare but I feel like I need to read more of his works so that I can understand them better. The best things I love to do during the winter is cook traditional holiday meals read holiday themed books and watch the Macy’s lighting of the tree on television.
well, I very much hope you enjoy your Shakespeare journey as much as I have mine. Possibly, some of our teachers admonish us to read first and then see the performances - which of course typically is film - however, I think that that's not quite fair. Most of them were written to be performed and they are wonderful to see.

I've been reading A Game of Thrones! I hope I'll finish it this week... And my favourite thing about this time of year is definitely decorating the house for Christmas, my mom and I actually have just finished doing that! I also love picking up gifts for my loved ones ❤️

Currently reading Firekeeper's Daughter. Reading is my favorite pass time.
Graphite drawing is my favourite art media to work with. I like doing science illustration - anything to do with medicine (both animal and human anatomy), and the natural sciences (botany etc), as well as portraits and body movement. My medical conditions have made it much more difficult in recent years which is a shame. I love your artwork Carolyn.
I am currently reading The Count of Monte Cristo. So, I am patiently waiting for the portrait of Dumas to be available on your Etsy shop!!
What I love about this time of year is that people seems to be more kind and friendly towards each other.
We read that as a group this Summer, and pretty much everyone loved it. There are some contrivances, tho tbh even those make sense, sort of. However, the ending was a bit of a surprise, and if you'd like to chime in when you finish, it'd be nice.

I am currently reading "Zero Hour America" by Oz Guinness. My favorite part of Christmas is the spirit of peace that I feel, as well as the Christmas music.
Greatly enjoyed Neverwhere, first Gaiman I read. Your comments about writers' voices is spot on, too. It's not an artificial style, (as Hemingway imposed on his finished work), but how people think that gives them their writing voices.
Currently reading several books but the major one is Our Mutual Friend by Charles Dickens.
My favorite part of the year is Autumn. I'm from the mountains of Western Pennsylvania, where the leaves are spectacular, and now, living in Eastern Nebraska, I miss that a lot. A child of Winter, I like snow, and we're not seeing much here these days.
As to the holidays, the older I get, the more I see them as artificially imposed on us, both via consumerism and, sadly, the sense of obligation to socialize with family. Or friends, if one has those. I'd like it if traditions and conviviality returned. I like Yuletide referents and Xmas trees and Kristkindlmarkts, which we experienced in Germany. Quietly festive, cozily enjoyable.

I just finished The Hollow Man (John Dickson Carr), which was great, and am currently reading (mostly - I jump around books quite a lot) Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and Space Struck (Paige Lewis)...and yesterday, for some reason (👀) finally moved Never Let Me Go from my bookshelf to my bedstand - I read the first pages yesterday!

I'm currently reading "The Black Country" By Alex Grecian. I love this time of year,and I like that it gets dark earlier...I feel that it lets us rest and settle in for the Winter. My favorite part of the Holiday season are the decorations, and people being kinder to each other. Happy Thanksgiving !

Hi Carolyn, I so enjoy your channel. I’m currently reading Pachinko by Mina Jin Lee. I enjoy baking with my sister this time of year. We spend a few days doing in then take trays of baking to some family and friends. That way we make sure to get a visit in for the holiday season.

I'm currently reading Neverwhere by Neil Gaiman too! And I'm loving it, it's very magical and mysterious. I feel I'm reading a punk version of Alice in Wonderland. I love it! And my favorite thing about this time of the year is my birthday (dec.16) every year I feel a lot of excitment because I have so much fun with my family and friends and I looove that everything it's christmas decorated and it makes me feel in a fairytale. Also I love the atmosphere on the streets, I feel happiness in the air. ❤️

I’m currently reading The Saga of the Volsungs. It’s a classic Icelandic saga which has inspired many fantasy writers, Tolkien amongst them . I’m really not a fantasy person, so I’m very surprised that I am actually enjoying the tales.
The best thing about this time of the year, for me, is when the sun sets early funnily enough because I just love the darkness.

I just finished Jane Eyre, which I loved, and am almost 100 pages into The Secret History which I’m not sure about yet, but I want to start The Picture of Dorian Gray before November is over.
I just finished War and Peace and I can't wait to read it again.
I'm currently reading Great Circle by Maggie shipstead and loving it! My favorite part of this year is just being cozy inside with family :)
I loved Never Let Me Go. It was shocking to me and it shattered my heart in pieces. I didn't expect the end at all; I had such hope and I was so certain about the different ending I thought, I was sure, it was coming that I was really cheering on. And then... I was absolutely destroyed! I was shocked and I cried. I couldn't believe it. Also, I didn't realize what was going on and who the characters were until way much later. I think this book is best to go in completely blinded and let it destroy you.
Nick and Charlie are the best characters YES, I feel that way too!
I am currently reading "classic ghost stories" which is a short story collection and I am also reading "Jane Eyre". An dhnn my favorite thing about this time a year would have to be the cold weather, tyhe snow and how cozy and spooky it feels.
I'm reading "The Seven Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle", and I love this time of year because it's Spring in Australia and in my part of the country which is a little colder than the coast, we're enjoying the warmer weather. :-)

What do I love about this time of the year?
. Mostly I love the change in color around me. I’m sitting outside watching leaves of color fall from on high, then tumble across the fields against mine and my husky’s bodies. Next the days will be grayer, browner, and bluer. But today they are like the warm Earth juxtaposed by cool weather.
i'm currently reading after dark by haruki murakami (a great recommendation from emma!) i'm loving it lots, and my favourite part of this time year is watching christmas movies and reading snowy books! this year's itinerary has snow country by yasunari kawabata which i'm beyond excited for!

I'm currently reading The Memory Police by Yoko Ogawa and rally loving it so far! My favourite thing about this time of year is that it is almost Christmas holidays which means I can go home and see my family (and dog) soon. I'm an international student, so I don't get to see them that often, which makes the holidays even more special 💛
Im currently reading A Wild Sheep Chase. My favorite part about this time of year is getting to wear cold weather clothes. (I live in AZ, so only get to wear cute “fall clothes” 2-3 months out of the year)
I´m currently reading the third Dune book and also a german childrens book thats called "white fox", it´s really cute but there are a lot of deaths in it for a childrens book... My favorite part of the Christmas season is helping customers do their gift shopping, I work at a book store and going though the books and recommending personal favorites as gifts for others is just really cool..

I love your vlogs, Carolyn! I've just started reading The Murder of Wickham by Claudia Gray. My favorite thing about this time of year is that a lot of businesses and public spaces put up the sparkly lights and everything looks so shiny and bright, which helps combat it getting dark so early!
My favourite thing about this time of year is the gift giving. I love watching my loved ones’ joy as they open their presents. We always have a quiet Christmas so I really look forward to unwinding.

I'm currently reading PD James's The Murder Room. It's an Adam Dalgliesh murder mystery. I love how PD James delves deep into the human psyche. Being a highly sensitive person, this time of year tends to be overwhelming to me but I do enjoy the festive decorations

Thanks for the new video! BQ: Beyond Good & Evil and a re-read of Crime & Punishment. NBQ: I'm looking forward to being at home for the Christmas holidays and the way my small town brings out a great Christmas atmosphere with all the shopfronts, lamp-posts, etc, decorated and lit up. While the snow is a pain on most days, I do look forward to downhill skiing over the next few months!
