I'm a music ed student and every time I've observed a middle school band class there has been a percussionist playing megalovania and/or baby shark. This is a masterpiece.
Exactly but it’s with random instruments and with the piano,my friends are still working on it,trying to play Megalovania but I may have to play something else for a funeral.....
All the percussionists at my hs hate me because I can not control myself around megalovania lol. It’s just so fun. I really want to do pit for winter drum line some day so that I have an excuse.
Lol we had a concert for Christmas and my friend who’s in my class and also a percussionist had the cymbal part and during class I had to give her a que from my place at snare and she still got late but THANK GOD I didn’t give her a que and she got it
I was a trumpet player and messed around on the trap kit after school a lot. The guy who was supposed to play trap encouraged it. Our argument to the director was that I played drums better than any of the percussion kids other than him. The band director said that just because his percussion section sucks doesn't mean we could break the rules.
Being a Sophomore in highschool and currently in Front Ensemble, I can say with certainty that this video is extremely accurate!!! (Although you might be giving us a little to much credit on the middle school mallets. Most of us can’t even play the scales!!!) Love you videos, they always brighten up my day. I hope you keep posting!!!
I’m a high school percussionist and we’re trying to get Megalovania into our Pep Band charts next year as well as Never Gonna Give You Up. Next year’s going to be epic if all goes according to plan...
You forgot the part where the percussionist drops a stick during a stick trick onto a timpani, except it happens during the rehearsal with the entire music department for the end of the year concert, and the percussionist's middle school girlfriend is in the school choir, so she sees the percussionist fail miserably. You know. The thing that happens to everyone.
u forgot the one where he focuses on the flutes and the percussion start laughing and messing around or when they get extra mad at percussion for one small thing
Not a middle school band but a teacher gave our class another lecture on the triangle and the science behind it. I’m not a percussionist but that was really cool to hear.
Andrew McClure I missed a few days of school because I moved and it took some time for me to transfer over. In the time I was gone the kid who played the triangle wasn’t playing it correctly and the teacher gave a lecture on the triangle, (he gives music appreciation lectures before we play), and when I started playing, a month in or so the same kid wasn’t playing correctly. The teacher got pissed and said he would give ANOTHER lesson on the triangle since the kid was just hitting it. The lesson was on the physics behind a triangle, how the trajectory of the triangle worked, how different angles played different sounds, and how in an orchestra this violinist came up to a person playing the triangle and made fun of him for practicing it, but the triangle guy retorted by saying he has one of the most important parts and his instrument didn’t cost as much as the violinist’s violin cost.
I have a friend who's a percussionist and he lost 1 of his drumsticks. None any of his mallets but just 1 drumstick and the teacher was kinda really mad
The forgot the part where that one kid always has private lessons and missed his part. And that other kid who stays in the storage room the entire class playing with the slide whistle. - The only 8th grade female percussionist (why)
As a middle school percussionist- one kid doesn’t want to leave the snare. One kids mom signed him up so he does bass drum and falls asleep. There is a girl who loves the triangle. One kid loves glockenspiel. Three kids love marimba. One kid loves vibes. And two of the boys fling their sticks EVERYWHERE. That’s everyone in my class for you including me
Sounds like you got a lot of dip on your chip man. Just relax, most people dont take music very seriously until high school. Just keep on practicing hard and help out others where you can. Also to answer your question yes this is very true of most MS percussionists😂😂
Just don’t get a big head about it. Always keep working. My buddies and I have helped rebuild our entire drumline after a bunch of people left my first year. Went from almost 3s to multiple best-in-class/division scores. Always strive to be better than the best and work with your section, not against them.
What about when the kid playing the snare drum breaks the head? Here's a story; Ok so I'm in a middle school band and in December we had a concert (to play for 5th graders from different elementaries). On the last song (thankfully) there was a snare player. Everyone plays a loud note at the end. Our snare drummer ended up hitting the head so hard that he created a tear from top-to-bottom- Our Director/teacher was pretty chill about it lol.
@@dontworryaboutit6569 Don't worry, you're a Jojo, you're already great! I was a high school percussionist and now I'm a church drummer, trust me, keep practicing and all will be good! Speedwagon will cheer you on!
In highschool and onward, percussion is like super good and everyone remembers the tune the rest of the band plays, but also the drum line. In middle school? Percussion is just… also there
Oh no, the memories of crash cymbals for “American Civil War Fantasy” are coming back. Besides that, I went to go audit a class and this is the best representation of it.
This is SPOT ON bro. I was a lot more mature than my peers in middle school but this kind of stuff ALWAYS happened. Everyone hated mallets, meme songs were rampant, snare drum was the best, mallets was bad, etc etc.

lola Gutierrez i get bored out of my mind

I know the band hates us they say we play to loud then they tell us to put a practice pad on the bells 😑

YES!!!!!
Bruh, everyday percussion is not by themselves at my school, some wind instrument has to be so bad that we play one note for an entire day.
But can we talk about the non percussion kids touching all of the equipment????
Happens all the time and i want to choke them
My teacher taped a sign on each of the instruments.
"Non-percussionists touch Percussion instruments = lunch detention.
- Mr. Maldonado"
Jesus Christ, I hate that so much

Me as well
Very true
Get off TH-cam you’re too young 🤣
randomguy555 what? why do you say that?
"Was this... not a big enough cue??" continues into College. You never grow out of that one.
It follows percussionists everywhere, the only difference is the amount of frustration in the delivery of the line.
or when the teacher says next song and it’s a zoo when every one is moving around to get to their other instrument
There’s always the one kid who’s off beat by just a bit

Nah, man. I played the HELL out of that triange.
@@seanharvey9199 well i got a told i was a happy mistake, not that bad though :D
Bass drum same rhythm for the whole song REPRESENT

same with me
Accurate, as a former percussionist
